It would look so much better if the girls who had to wear them went for a more ostentatious style of head covering with more volume to it. Like that way it would all balance out so much better. Being a nun is not a religion in itself. Nuns have much stricter dress codes as you BECOME a nun, you are not born one so they are more religious. For Muslims who are born into it in western countries, their rules are far more lax.
Nuns would never wear lolita as it goes against their special nun-rules. No nun lolita is a real nun.

Eh, the thing is they're not really respecting the practice of Hijab or Islamic faith, they're just doing it because it a growing trend (apparently) or in some cases just want the brownie points. If it were out of respect or they wanted to follow hijab without being Muslim, it wouldn't be quite as bad, but these girls are more into how ~cute and trendy~ it is than actually following the Islamic concept of modesty or Haya and respecting and learning about the faith.

Many non-Muslims often don't understand that it's a lot more than just a scarf. I shit you not I have heard a non-Muslim girl say that she wants to wear "a hijab" because she likes the look but she doesn't want to convert because she doesn't want to be part of a religion that tells it believers to "kill all the infidels". I cringed.

The scarf also has a history of oppression through culture and society. You've got girls in countries with mandatory hijab laws who don't want to follow it, or even in countries where there are no hijab laws, girls who don't observe hijab are often looked upon with disgust by many. Some girls who were born into Muslim families take up hijab in their early teens and struggle with it in adulthood. Both Muslims by birth and converts struggle with internal conflicts about wanting to follow hijab or not, believing things like "if I don't, I don't love Allah (SWT)" or "I feel like I'm not myself when I wear it." Worst of all, pious girls in the US and Europe who choose to fully partake in it are wearing a large sign that says "I'm Muslim" that they can't just take off on a whim, which invites all kinds of harassment from Islamophobes and ignorant radfems.

Obviously there's no rule against non-Muslims practicing Hijab, its great when people become interested in the religion or want to practice modesty, but what's not cool is when they don't care about Islam and want to wear the scarf strictly for superficial personal reasons; that goes completely against the concept.

What does respecting the hijab or faith have to do with it? It's just fashion here, they are not practicing muslims. Even if they were it wouldn't matter. I know many girls from my private school and my mostly arab community who would wear the hijab with skin tight pants, not to mention some girls I knew were actually some of the biggest whores around...off topic but just trying to give you perspective. We are all people just like everyone else, some muslims take it very seriously, some are more lax. It's all across the board just like anything else. So personally, I like seeing it normalized in a fashion way, regardless if they know anything about it.
On the other hand, If they're spouting off racist shit and aren't just joking with close friends who understand their sense of humor, that's an actual problem.
