You can usually buy a sealant spray wherever you get your body paint/makeup, like theatre supply stores. Alternatively, people have used hairspray, so that is a cheaper option, although I am not sure how effective that is. There is also a sealing powder that is available at those stores, and the cheaper option is baby powder. I hear both (that is, a spray and a powder) are needed for maximum sealing.

If you're going whole body, ben nye and snazzaroo aren't gonna cut it for your limbs and torso It'll work for the face, but for the rest of you, you're gonna need to use PAX (50:50/60:40 mix of Pros-Aide and Liquitex acrylic paint). Just make sure after you apply it you powder yourself and go over it with a hair dryer to seal it and make sure you're not still sticky. Also, shave any place you're applying it. When you want to remove it, a combination of soaking, soap, and adhesive remover does the trick. Though for some people it comes off even easier.

Don't. It is cheap and looks cheap and the only reason you should use this over something theatrical is if yo've very sensitive skin.

You'll fuck up your skin. Don't fucking seal with hairspray.

Either you'll use water base, or you'll use cream base. Water base is easier to get off and rubs off less, but tends to not look as great, especially not after a few hours at a con. Cream base applies thicker and doesn't "dry". It stays where it should and generally looks better. You need to seal it but applying a generous amount of loose powder, though. You should powder water based too, but if you don't powder cream based everyone will hate you forever.

You need around 2ml for one set of face, neck and the back of your hands, so a standard size 8ml should cover your needs. Try and use not-make up on arms and legs. If you can, use tights. Armsocks are also nice. I personally use PAX.

A second skin. Smooth as a baby butt. Don't wear it on your face or it'll crack and keep your face un-emotional. If I cosplay trolls more than one day of the con I can usually leave it on overnight. It can be a hassle to apply.
My method for removing it:
-lather in a thick lotion and seep in
-get a single-use razor
-"shave" the areas painted to poke holes in them
-use warm water, shower oil and the razor to get it all off.

As for listpeople we like/don't like...
At this point there really isn't anyone on the list I just want to skip, perhaps excepted from CBC because they have infinite scroll and I already know what to expect. I honestly like all the people on the list right now and feel they definitely deserve the recognition given by the fandom, and the only person I'm feeling "eh" about at times is Pyropi because I've a hard time reading textual tone and she's kinda big on the sarcasm.

I'm personally a big fan of Yaexrae who've always come off to me as a genuinely fun and nice person. I also really like Crowmunist and Pearlgirl, both of whom I find very sweet. But I've a lot of respect for everyone on the list. Then there might be specific cosplays I feel meh-y about (I wasn't a big fan of the Beforus ancestors group, for example. It was well executed but when compared to what canonical ancestor designs and cosplays tend to look like they just felt kind of lackluster and like the troll kids playing dress up),

1. I want straight (but styled) hair. Does the pastebin rec for Luthien still apply if I straighten it? Would Jareth Long be better or too thin at the ends? Or will it be more wig than it is worth dealing with (a shorter style better)?

2. how full a skirt is ideal? I'm thinking either half or 3/4 circle skirt with a petti underneath.

Try twill or cotton sateen, and look up "princess seam dress" or "princess seam bodice" to get an idea of the sort of pattern you should be looking to use for your bodice.
