Oh my gosh, I literally just finished packing for a trip to Disneyland tomorrow! I was like, "man, nobody would wear brand to Disneyland! Let's just pack the cheap comfy bodyline stuff!"
Now I feel like I have to replan my whole trip.

Do any of you have any ideas about what to be careful of in DL? I'm thinking anything with a runny print is out of the question with the amusement park water flying all over.

>> No.8540778

> I'm thinking anything with a runny print is out of the question with the amusement park water flying all over.
Yeah I'd avoid reds and things like that for that reason. Too risky, unless you're planning on not going on Splash Mountain or any ride that involves getting splashed. I think mist would be fine though.

In general though, something cotton or flowy (chiffon maybe, but chiffon traps heat worse than other fabrics) would be good. It's hot as fuck there right now so opt for short sleeves on your blouse, and ankle socks as opposed to OTKs or tights. Forget about a wig too since those are way too hot right now too. Wear comfy shoes that you can walk in all day.

I'd also go for a dress with a special print, especially if you want to have a more Disney-themed outfit. Can't go too costume-y otherwise they'll make you change. It's why things like Fantastic Dolly can be worn and not so much Dot Pretty Girl.

>> No.8540939

Why is wearing costume like stuff to disney frowned upon, and would they really make you change? I had no idea this was a thing.

>> No.8540951

>>8540939
Because they don't want guests to confuse actual costumed cast members (workers) with other guests just dressed up. If a costumed guest acts stupid in costume or does something to ruin a child's day and the parents don't know it's a guest then they could blame disney and start to ruin their name. Yes they have made some people change. The only time you can really get away with costumes is during their Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

>> No.8540959

>>8540939
Because there's preformers and face characters and just a bunch of people working there already dressed up, who are on Disney's payroll and have been trained to act a certain way around guests. Now imagine some rando coming to the park in something costumey or just full on Disney cosplay - it's going to confuse the guests. Is this person in a floofy dress and other costumey things working for the park? Guests might get confused and interact with them thinking they are a Disney employee, and there's a good chance of the rando who decided to dress up behaving defensive or rude. And that can possibly cause unhappy guests. It's safer to not "break the magic" by having a definite visual line in terms of who is a guest and who is a park employee.

Paris is not really laxer with it, you need to cover up your outfit and put on your accessories and petti inside the park. They're not suppose to kick you out if they let you in in the first place though. I don't get the appeal of going to Disney in lolita. Seems like a bother for the rides.

>I don't get the appeal of going to Disney in lolita
It's purely for aesthetics I feel. It's not anywhere near as comfy as just shorts and a t-shirt, especially if you're going to either of the USA parks (regardless of time of year; they're always going to be warm tbh). Last time I went to WDW I only wore lolita to Downtown Disney, and that's way better than the parks. Not as much walking, plus I went at night so it was cooler. Might be more comfortable in Tokyo Disney during the cooler months? But still, seems like a hassle with the walking and going through turn stiles and fitting into coaster seats.

>> No.8541954

>>8541812
It's not a good idea if you want to be comfortable or go on many rides but there's a lot of places that make great backgrounds for pictures. And it's fun to get a picture with characters like Alice when wearing lolita.

> They're not suppose to kick you out if they let you in in the first place though.
They can if you change inside the park or add things that make your outfit look more like a costume, like a brightly colored wig.

I also read somewhere that they might ask you to change if you're being swarmed by visitors who want to take a picture with you. Because people lining up can give others the impression that you're a cast member.

Can't speak for any other Disney parks, but a lot of the girls who go to Tokyo Disney in lolita are there mainly for shopping, photos with the characters and shows/parades.

Maybe it's because I'm more into classic, but I feel that if you take the trouble going to EuroDisney you might as well enjoy the rides cause the tickets are damn expensive and take nice pictures in the most beautiful city in the world which happen to be just near. Why going to a fake castle and kitsch Euro inspired downtown Disney when you can have so many beautiful places in Paris ?

I'm going to Disney next summer and I'm planning on wearing it only to Downtown Disney.

>> No.8542133

I went to Disneyland last month and wore a more casual, otome-esque coord than I usually do (white keds, natural hair) because I was afraid of getting stopped. I actually brought a change of clothes just in case! The grandpa at the gate just chuckled and thought it was festive. The pictures were really fun and walking was fine, it wasn't terribly hot, though I was grateful for a Dole whip.

I definitely went on the rides, though. There's kind of an amazing picture of me in the front row car of Space Mountain squinting at it like the whole thing confused me. I wouldn't do it again with a fluffier dress, but A-line, it was no more annoying than any other clothes.

I've never been to Disney and my grandma even lives in Florida. My mom and dad hate amusement parks because they both have little patience for waiting in line. Has nothing to do with your preference in sub-style tbh. I've seen classic and gothic lolitas taking Disney snaps. You just tend to see more sweet lolitas because it suits the cute princess aesthetic more.

>Why going to a fake castle and kitsch Euro inspired downtown Disney when you can have so many beautiful places in Paris ?
again, because it's Disney. It's just got a certain charm to it that's appealing. You're not going to see a castle that's quite like Cinderella's just out and about in Europe, for example. It's hard for me to explain this sort of feeling, so I hope other fans know what I'm talking about haha. There's also the attention factor. When I wore Fantastic Dolly to Downtown Disney, I garnered a good amount of attention from children and adults, most of which were positive. It made me really happy that I bothered to wear lolita when a little girl asked me to twirl around with her.
I'm sure the girls that go to Disney parks in lolita are also the same sort of folks that travel to snap pics at other pretty locations, too.

>> No.8542927

>>8542893
Adding to this. Also, from what I've seen, the buildings at Disney are supposed to be a bit cartoony, a bit fake, a bit exaggerated. They're there to look pretty. To take photos in front of. Real castles are beautiful, but the fake castle has this cartoony look to it that matches the cute fluffy look of especially sweet lolita. It's slightly bigger than real life.
