The homeworld gem plot and the songs are the main reason I keep watching. Steven himself is really annoying in the beginning. He gets a little better over time but he's still annoying sometime. LIke >>8532439 said the lion and sword fighting are pretty good to.

A really great thing about SU is that you get a lot of character development, drama, cute music, and lore besides the comedy. You get to see steven mature and learn how to use his abilities, understand who the Crystal Gems are, and their relationship dynamics with each other as well as Rose Quartz. I always say to clench tight for the first 10 episodes and see how you like it, but I got all my normie friends into it by slightly spoiling to good parts (rose's scabbard, jailbreak, island adventure)

Not for everyone, but if you get into it, it's great.

I'd believe it's possible that the show just doesn't appeal to you. I tried to get two of my housemates to watch it: one is completely caught up; the other is stuck somewhere around ep.20 because she can't surmount her dislike of Steven. The show has more of a whimsical feel to it (on account of being a children's show), so if you tend to over-analyse or be very critical of things, it might not be for you. That's fine.

I have a love hate with it. The show is really too slow paced for my taste. It seems like a lot of shows on CN right now are following this weirdly slow pacing of tv shows..

Anyway, sometimes I find it on when channel surfing boredly and get kind of into it. Saw some episode with Pearl running from Steven and it got me. Managed to catch the episode with RQ going to the dads concert, it was cute.

So the story is sort of interesting, but I don't know if I can force myself to marathon it to try to "catch up" I think it's just better for me to watch one or two random episodes

It's all right to not like it,

But to put in my two cents: the plot develops fairly well as the show goes on. Steven gets much less annoying, and the songs become absolutely fantastic.
Besides that, the show is good at capturing the "Feels" after a while, and instead of being random, the characters get more humanistic traits that are easier to connect to.

i'm the exact same way, anon. however, i was a homestuck cosplayer back in the day in 2011/12 and tried a good deal of paints and actually had good luck with snazaroo. you just have to apply more layers for a consistent and even color and it's not cream or oil based- if i remember correctly, it's actually water based and washes off really easily? it's been a while but coming from someone with really sensitive skin, it's much less harsh, and if you haven't tried it yet i'd definitely give it a shot.
