Uchuu kei, as far as I have been aware, is somewhat related to Fairy Kei (like Mahou kei and such). I don't know if it was coined by tumblr, but I hope it isn't. Personally, I can't relate to Fairy Kei since I don't care for the 80s themes, but I really love the idea of Uchuu because it's more like Fairy and Pop Kei meets retrofuturism at times (I'd kill to see some pastel Jetsons-style dresses).

Sage for no contribution. I really wish this style was done well, but I couldn't find good results.

Self post here, would this be considered Uchuu? I wore it for my birthday that I themed 'celestial-kitsch', but I didn't know there was an actual name for the style. Or is this not spacey enough?

White eyeliner just makes you look bad.
Maybe try basic makeup and add silver or White only in the start of the eye to add bright tones.

If you want to look alien, maybe wear props like antennae, or an alien-head purse. Makeup alone would not give a clue of what it is, specially not if it makes your eyes seem tired.

宇宙人ファッション? It doesn't bring up very much, and what does come up is pretty costume-y/not people's regular fashion. Uchuujin on its own doesn't relate to any style of dress so it's kind of hard to search.

Pic related is something that I found using that term, it's not a Japanese brand and I thought most of the collection was ugly but it was one of the only results that wasn't just an alien costume.

Yes. I think it's just an issue of there being no definite term for an entire style based around space in Japan; they use the words to describe what they themselves are wearing and not really to identify a fashion that they're fitting their outfits into. That blog post looks like similarly themed Tumblr images collected together, so I think somebody on there probably consulted a Japanese dictionary and came up with a name for the looks they'd been seeing online.

宇宙柄 (uchuugara/"outer space print") nets a lot of results, but then you literally are just getting things with an outer space print, not necessarily, like, alien-inspired or whatever. スペイシー (spacy) and the aforementioned 宇宙人 worked okay to that end but not perfectly. Combine with terms like コーデ (coord), ファッション (fashion), 服 or 洋服 ([you]fuku/"clothes"), etc.

When it comes to japanese brands I think Galaxxxy would be the one with the most focus of space themed stuff, Spank! got some too once a blue moon and Takuya angel may fit it too but is an OTT Cyber brand.

She's a VA from the 90s - literally her only noteworthy role was Ulala from Space Channel 5. She did her best to milk her fame though, self-publishing a cringy comic/"manga" starring herself, doing some shitty pop songs. I'm thinking neon colors, lots of angles, tight-fitting clothing, metallics, outrageous colors... lots of statement pieces. Probably the opposite of modest, sine it's futuristic. Thinking crop tops and miniskirts with huge platforms.

I speak Japanese so I know that. I'm not trying to be pedantic, it's just that people in this thread already tried to use that picture of the model named Uchuu as proof that this brand calls itself by "uchuu style" when it doesn't, the word doesn't come up in any of the articles about the brand on Fashionsnap except for the one involving that girl's name and the designers cite their inspiration as anime, Internet and otaku culture. There was some confusion about that so I didn't want people to be mixed up in case there are threads about this in the future.

I think "uchuu-kei" is in a purely hypothetical stage right now as a fashion (at least the way it's being discussed in this thread, there's not really a clear idea of how it should look) so that makes it difficult to identify also.

It seems like there are a couple ways to interpret the style, but overall what I'm seeing is:
>the general aesthetic of cyberpunk like cyberdog but in pastel or candy colors with more "kawaii" motifs rather than industrial elements
>more casual streetfashiony takes using spacey holographic materials and futuristic motifs.
The second seems to be the more everyday wearable form while the former is like its OTT counterpart. I think as long as it has a more kawaii-focused aesthetic it can remain independent from cyberpunk, tumble fashion, or cyberpop

1. The very loud retrofuturistic cyber punkish look.
2. And the more muted, livable, straight up futuristic, including holographic, strange shapes and a lot of use of whites.

Since I figure it's at least related it doesn't hurt to post the fashion idea I've been toying with for the past few years. I won't have the resources or time to make my actual brand for a while but I defined it as Cyber Shine: An appreciation for or application of technology and its aesthetics as fashion. No punk elements like spikes etc. way less black, more white and silver base colors with bright accent colors. Lights (EL or LED) incorporated as either removable panels so you can wash the item or including a removable washable lining for fabrics such as PVC/holographic.
Prints would involve things like circuit board, space, waveform, geometric shapes, glitch and low poly 3D style.
I would like to have versatile pieces able to be added to an OTT more suitable for rave outfit but still being able to wear in a toned down more casual outfit, as well as some distinctly OTT statement pieces.
I have no idea when it'll happen but I'll post some inspo pics. I have stuff saved that's just the look/feel only in architecture or something and not really people wearing clothes so I'll avoid those and just post outfits.

I tried myself to smack some silver eye shadow, glitter all over the place, white eyeliner, black eyeliner on top and outer edge, white lips, a bit of electric blue shadow in the eye socket...

And I failed terribly. I looked even more plumpy than usual, eyes looked smaller... and tired. Anyway, I can't do other makeup than the conventional. I feel lost in this one.

Anon you must be one of these etsy sellers or something. Yes the KMKM stuff is technically homemade but there's enough quality standard and presentation for it to be considered a brand. It's very possible to make homemade look professional, but the etsy people seem to lack that.

I dont really like how the wigs look, maybe you should go for something more simple? A straight short silver wig with bangs would look cute in my opinion, maybe add some more alien themed accessories as well and different shoes (that have more of that ~futuristic~ feel)

Uchuu really reminded me of this dress I found in topshop a few years ago. The material was holographic (I think that's the right word?) and it went from copper/bronze to navy blue, it was a textured 'scuba' fabric, and had a real Jetson's vibe about it because of the neck and how the material needed no help in sticking out? It felt like a was wearing the future when I tried it on.
