...I always feel trolled whenever people post their measurements in a plus size thread asking if they're plus sized.
Do none of you ever go shopping?
If you have to shop in sections specifically for plus size, shop at plus size stores, and find yourself going for the larges in normal sections then you are the definition of plus size.

If you mostly shop for mediums, and don't need to get special sizing that's bigger than average then you are likely average.

Just, how could you not know? It's boggling.

I think that's a weak excuse, but I guess.
Even with vanity sized stores there would still be a difference between the sizes average people get and what larger people get. Idk, maybe I'm just hyper observant.

I am on the larger end of lolita and considered a plus size lolita but I don't shop at the plus size section of clothing stores especially for pants and junk cause at Old Navy, they have sizes that fit certain body types (It's a miracle actually)

My measurements are:
>Bust 106 cm
>waist 86 ~ 93 cm depending on how my body feels really but I am usually at 90 cm
Hips:106 cm
Height: 5'2 ft or 157 cm
Weight: 169 (I was at 180 and I am in the process of losing weight)

So in lolita, I am at plus size but in regular fashion, I am on the higher end of standard clothing but not plus size. So you don't need to be shopping in regular stores in the plus size section to be a plus size in j-fashion.

I can't really speak for outside North America but myself as a plus size can range from some company's 10 and barely squeeze into another's 12. Iirc in NA 12 and over is considered plus size range. That is why I say it could be confusing for some but you are right people need to be more observant and do a little research into fashion sizing and vanity sizing issues.

I don't think that will stop the asking though lol

That is the one thing I wish the international fashion scene should agree on though set a standard and make everyone stick it when it comes to medium and higher volume sales and distribution of clothes.

>> No.8478411

>>8478396
Don't believe me then. I literally wear size 11 pants and medium or large shirts depending if my bust fits or not. Like I said, a lot of Old Navys near my place have pants that fit into certain body shapes and I go for the once that are for large hips and thighs which fits perfectly so I don't have to wonder around places and see if I have to go plus size sections and either ways, a lot of plus size clothing stores around me sell clothes that are too big on my waist but not on my hips or thighs so it really just depends where you shop you know. Usually I just go to Old Navy for pants cause I don't need to stress myself out and for shirts, I just go to Ross cause why pay a lot of a shirt.

Most of my weight is at my breast and thighs, so I usually have to buy M/L shirts to fit my bust that end up hanging very loosely from my arms. I usually wear skirts high on my waist, so I can usually fit into smaller ones like that (but, will more often than not be way too short).

Non the same anon but at 5' even, you're suppose to weight 100lbs and for every inch after 5', you're suppose to add another 5lbs.

So at 5'2, you should weigh 110lb to be considered healthy for your height. 84lb anon is very underweight but they are not as far from a healthy weight as you think they are.

Why kind of bullshit weight measurement technique is that. Most people, even if it's not necessarily accurate, go by bmi. Is that what you're trying to do? Because if that's the case 110 lbs at 5'2 would most definitely be considered under weight.

"plus size" status is far more reliant upon body-fat percentage than actual mass (as fat is less dense than muscle tissue). But realistically (i.e. if you don't lift) then you are going to be a little overweight and should try to loose it (e.g. increase protein intake, do exercise)

>You're plus sized lolita so you're plus sized everywhere

Ya ok when I got my first retail job at Forever 21 I never even dreamed of walking into the plus size section because I usually fit their mediums (sometimes small or large was better depending on the piece in question).

Now I work at a store without a plus size section (we sell the same volume of clothing as F21) and although I have gained weight, I still fit into their mediums or larges without any issues. Proof is in the fact that I must wear company clothes to work.

But when it comes to lolita, holy shit, fatty-chan alert. I better stick to plus size friendly or else.

I used to work at a high end lingerie shop and was the lead fitter. There is no way you're a 34. If your bust (Under the boobles) is 40in, your band size would be 44. I'm currently on the BTSSB USA website trying to decide between either Milk-chan's Fantasy Wonderland JSK I or the Sugar Baby Icing Cookie JSK Empire Waist version. The latter will actually fit me, while the former will only fit me by taking it to a seamstress and altering it using its waist ties.

I'm torn between the two though as I absolutely adore both prints, so really it all comes down to which would be more flattering for my figure.

What do you gulls think?

As for informing the masses, I feel your pain so much. Everyone is just so uninformed and I want to tell every girl I meet to make sure they're really wearing their bra size but that's not really something you can just say randomly.

Two reasons: In jfashion, the standard for what is plus size is a lot different. Most of us can't go into a store to find out, so we go to each others. Also, for some reason the plus size community (at least, not on /cgl/) is weirdly picky about people who aren't really plus size labeling themselves as plus size. I remember a little while ago, the plus size sales page had a fit about clothes being sold that weren't plus size enough or something.

>plus size sales page

That facebook page is shit for numerous reasons. It tries too hard to be a fattie club instead of a damn sales page.

For one, their measurement minimums are absolute bullshit.
They don't want anyone selling anything below a 98cm bust (their waist minimum is 77cm).
So they're basically giving the "fuck you" to any fatties who have a thick waist and tiny boobies.
Which is retarded because plus size busts begin certainly lower than 98cm.
Secondly, the mods throw tantrums if you don't personally post your own amateur measurements of any garments you sell. So it doesn't fucking matter if you have the official measurements with absolutely no give for "stretching," you'll still get chewed out to waste your time "measuring" by a mod anyway. Because you know, apparently being fat also means you're also stupid so as to not be able to reasonably judge if you'll be able to fit something with official measurements with an inch or two of leeway.

In the plus size comms (outside of cgl), if you don't visibly look like a ham, you are shunned.

J-fashion in particular is made with a specific frame and cup size. I think a lot of people forget that Japan is pretty homogenous. Whereas in the west, especially in the United States it's a literal melting pot of various ethnicities. With that comes variations in height, bone structure, frame size and differences. Two people can be the exact same height, same BMI and have vastly different measurements. Or likewise, one person with their own set of measurements may look entirely different than someone else who has similar measurements.

A lot of people forget that it's not even just bust and waist, but your frame size, and ribcage width can play a huge effect too in whether or not something is going to fit decently or not. You can lose all the weight you want. But if you're genetically predisposed to having big tits and a wide back or broad shoulders it's never going to look as it should on you. Most J-fashion is made for a petite frame and small cup size. Even if Lolita is normally intended for chubbier girls, their chubby is about on par with the West's medium or average. Anything above that is a game of trial and error, whether you have a 36 inch bust or a 46 inch bust.

Odd number sizes are smaller and an 8 in an upscale shop is vanity sized so more like a 12 used to be. I'm old-school and simple so for me, plus sizes in normal modern mid-priced US clothes starts in double digits so 10 or 11 would be plus to me. But in vintage or Asian clothes, the sizing is much different, much smaller. For Asian clothes and online vintage, I go by measurements for sure and have only been disappointed a couple of times on things with a close fit. It's a chance you take if you buy much so I just kind of expect a bad fit now and then.

You should fit fine into most 1/4 and definitely all half-shirred items from most brands, including most indie and taobao. The only issue may be your height.

The only thing that may give you issues is most unshirred and brands like Mary Magdaline, but they even have a release that would fit me if I'd get back to the weight I was at last year. I was 2" bigger than you then and the only thing that gave me issues was partial shirring.

(Let me guess, this so-called "high end lingerie store" was Victoria's Secret.)
