Ero lolita just isnt a thing. It was never clearly defined 'back in the day'. the closest we got to a supposed silhouette was using cages as skirts. Which never really spoke "ero" to me personally. The idea is novel since a cage skirt is technically just an underthing thus kind of showing off your "underwear" while still being lolita?

Some brands (Mostly meta, really) came out with a few leathery pieces that *could* have worked for whatever people thought ero lolita was. Meta has always tried to push boundaries with their brand, even if it meant being a little tacky.

I remember when this came out. It seemed like no one had any idea what to do with it. How do you coord it? It looks like a good base for something that can be ero lolita but without any idea of what ero lolita actually was, no one was all too thrilled about this piece. It just kind of turned into "oh it's just meta being meta and putting out crazy dresses"

So right now there seems to be mass confusion over what ero lolita is. I can't find the picture but there was some poor girl who got ripped to shreds for basically wearing a sweet coord but wearing a boned bustier instead of a blouse and called it ero.

Can ero be sweet? Does ero lean particular to the goth side? What are the basic elements of ero lolita?

The fact that these questions can't be answered simply means that ero lolita just isn't a thing. Any attempt I have seen in the years and years I've been obsessed with lolita, I've never seen a singular person pull off "ero lolita". No one really knows what it is and no one can really come to a consensus.

Anything I've seen personally always just looks like.. some kind of short frilly dress you'd pick up at hot topic. Might work for a general 'mall goth' look, but definitely not lolita.

Yeah that's the thing. How do you sex up a fashion that seems to completely reject the idea of being sexy? ERO implies erotic in some sort of way, but you just can't do lolita with being "erotic".

I guess you can always fall back on victorian undergarments. This could look ok if a brand could work around the silhouette. No blouse, a structured waist, lots and lots of frills, lace and chiffon. Maybe a shorter skirt instead of knee-length bloomers?

I just don't see ero lolita ever being an actual style unless a brand puts something out and says "here's how you do it and here's what you buy for it."

This isn't ero. Ero is corsets, shorter skirts, garters, cage skirts, etc. - basically things that are "underwear" elements exposed that we normally don't see in plain lolita. Usually it needs more than one of those or it just looks like slutty or lazy lolita, like this pic.

I have no idea why it's such a hard concept for people to grasp. If anyone wants to try ero, try to go for more than one "ero" element. This girl is just a lazy gothic lolita.

It may not be a substyle in the sense that 'classic', 'sweet' or whatever is, but it has been 'a thing' - whether it's to one's taste or not or relevant to many people these days is another matter. It was always just a very minor style in the scheme of lolita fashion, and often considered a small branch of gothic lolita (although not always).

I would say it's true that the term 'ero' has fallen out of favour though, especially in the Japanese lolita fashion scene.
