8440215 No.8440215 [Reply] [Original]

Let's start a thread for talking about stores like Kawaii Goods, Holley Tea Time, Kawaii Machine, etc.

Have you purchased from any of these stores or others like them? How was quality/business/etc.? What's your favorite and what do you think is best?

>> No.8440221

>>8440215
oh god that thing is hideous

>> No.8440233

I bought a hat from Kawaii Goods a while ago, and while it was relatively cheap and really cute, the quality wasn't the best? Like, I could have glued everything on it the same way it had been done.

The shipping time and communication was pretty good tho. I've thought about ordering a dress or two from Kawaii Goods but I worry about quality and washing it/having my cats claw at the fabric/etc. Like the material of the dresses these stores sell seems cheap.

>> No.8440304

do NOT buy from holleyteatime under any circumstances. she might as well change her name to holleyscamtime. there's tons of negative reviews for her out there and she's a proven art thief (traced off AP). Her skater skirts, bodycon dresses, and tights all have a problem where running them through the wash once will cause them to fade to almost pure white.

Don't buy from the accessory shop NerdyLittleSecrets. She has awful communication and her shit smells like cigarettes. I ordered from her twice, and the first order shipped in a few days, but the second one took over 2 months. She was supposedly behind, but people were posting about how they got their packages in a few days, and it was all items that she started making after I put in my order. A lot of what she sells doesn't look like the images, either.

Most "kawaii" sellers I've seen have awful stuff, honestly. I don't mind Kawaii Machine, but some of her more recent stuff has been ugly. Not to mention the quality of fabric is repulsive.

I second not buying from NerdyLittleSecrets. I bought two necklaces from her last year (the cat paw and the bat on a star). The paw ended up detaching from its little hook, and the bat was crooked. Totally not worth my money.

Same poster but forgot to add that I paid extra for plastic chains and still got terrible ugly metal ones.

I bought from her back in March. She said the item shipped May 19th, but according to the postage she shipped it the 26th. Just over a month ago, and she "cleaned up her act"? No. I doubt it.

I like how HTT's resin necklaces with a plastic chain instead of a shitty ball chain cost 8$ more.

>> No.8440539

>>8440417
I personally dislike HTT because in my experience her items aren't worth the money. I once bought a necklace and tights from her to gift a friend for her birthday. Necklace was resin and completely disgusting in the back. I understand that the customers focus on the front, but the back was chipped and gross (there was hair in there? Dust? Stuff that definitely didn't belong there). For near twenty dollars, I expected it to come looking clean at the very least.
The tights were soft and stretchy, so I thought they would be fine. Nope. Didn't turn to white right away, but instant fading with a wash. For tights costing more than brand, I'd expect them to be able to handle more than two washings.

For reference, her birthday was in February. Shipping was on time to my memory, and the package did look cute. From a first glance, I can see why she seems good. She cleans up well appearance wise with packaging, but the actual items aren't so good.

Anyone know if Sugar Junkie Shop is worth it? The hems on most of her dresses seem really bad, but I love the mermaid scale print.

>> No.8440699

>>8440304
I've bought minor things from her and they were all just kind of okay, honestly what I expected from someone kawaii and indie. I'll never get why lolitas just attack a seller for the most minor of things. I thought the girl who wanted that dress was expecting brand quality from some random indie kawaii seller and knew she got what she deserved. It's not Angelic Pretty? No it fucking ain't.

Was shitty of Holly to Photoshop it, but brands do that too? Even the part of others trying it on before her. I've bought a brand blouse that was clearly tried on by someone before. It was sold to me as "new" of course.

idk, I don't like much of what she sells and dislike her personality, but I think this lingering bad rep is undeserved.

>> No.8440751

I bought from HTT a few years ago when I was first getting into "kawaii" fashions. I got one of those resin necklaces. It is super lumpy and the surface is very uneven, but I figured that's just how hand making things out of resin is so I didn't complain. Is her quality any different now?

>> No.8440767

>>8440215
I think of kawaii sellers as Aliexpress. Sometimes you can get some really decent things, and sometimes they are garbage. But at least with aliexpress the price usually justifies the quality. I don't mind throwing away 3 dollars on a ring, but if im spending 10+ I expect it to not fall apart

Noooo what really? NerdyLittleSecrets has some stuff I liked. A shame that their customer service is crap.

Why do all of these stores seem to have horrible service/bad items?
Either the product looks decent (NerdyLittleSecrets, Starlight deco dream) but they have horrible service. Or the products look meh tier with decent service (Kawaiigoods, Melty Melodies)

Really the only one that I think has a decent reputation is CKK?

>> No.8441665

She has a ton of cute stuff, and I get that since everything is "handmade" it won't always look the same, but the back of everything is awful, like she's using crappy resin or isn't letting it cure properly. Plus the cigarette smell is really bad.

>> No.8441683

>>8441665

Wow thats really unfortunate.

I've been working with resin for awhile and would like to open a shop. I've been through lots of trial and errors but I'm finally getting more comfortable with it. Do you have any photos of her horrible backings? I'd love to see them. Sometimes the backs of my pieces have what I would consider minor flaws, but I'm wondering if its a big deal to a customer.

>If anyone had a problem with my pieces breaking or anything, I'd feel so bad I'd probably refund/exchange for them

>> No.8441732

>>8441683
I don't have any photos, but the backs were reall messy like she didn't take them out of the mold neatly, and there were a lot of air bubbles.

I've worked with resin very briefly for costume stuff, and never had these kinds of issues with mine, and it was the easy cast. =\

>> No.8441747

>>8441732

Oh okay yeah sounds gross, especially the air bubbles?? Like have they never tried using a lighter.

The minor flaws I have is sometimes having to sand/exacto knife some excess off the back edges after doming. It usually happens when I dont add enough resin I suppose but I've been getting better

I've tried EasyCast but I've moved onto Envirotex lite.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to buy kawaii pajamas? I know Swimmers has them every now and then, but they're not very consistent with their clothing releases. The most I ever see from taobao is like soft pastel striped things and I'm not too fond of Kigurumi. I just want something maybe with a cute print on it or theme to it.

>> No.8442142

KawaiiCore and Cute Can Kill are both great.

The dresses from KawaiiGoods are soft and feel nice, but after you wash it the print fades and better not catch it on anything. Something like cat's claws would snag the shit out of it.

Shameless self promotion seeing as I have done no marketing what so ever..

Facebook and Etsy - WhoSparkles

Actually I probably should be ashamed seeing as there is barely anything on there at the moment.. But, if anyone is interested I have nail polishes for sale and body mists and perfumes coming soon. All topped off with cute and ~*kawaii*~ labels. Something different than the casted resin jewelry that looks exactly the same from one store to the next?

I'm not sure if anyone ever bought from HH-Candy.. but literally what I am aspiring to be seeing as there is now no where to get cute as hell perfumes and candles from..

Hey, that's neat! I'm gonna open an etsy myself soon (though mostly boring aul beadwork jewellery, I'm afraid... At least it isn't resin), so if I may ask: does shipping internationally get pricey for you? How'd you start selling (with regard to shipping)? Also, be careful with perfumes, as some countries don't allow buying those from abroad/outside of the EU

All my perfumes are natural oil based so hopefully that doesnt cause any issues! But thanks for alerting me to that.. I should probably read into it!

I ship from New Zealand so international shipping is ridiculously high. Especially when posting nail polish due to the weight. I found in order to get people to buy the items you kind of have to take a hit on the postage cost and only charge them half or 2/3 of it so it comes across as cheaper.. Cos I know I never buy things where I have to pay more for the postage of the damn item than what I pay for the item itself. Obviously this isn't going to work well unless youre making a decent profit though.

Though definitely try opening an Etsy shop.. their fees are pretty reasonable, and jewelry is a LOT lighter than nail polish, so your international postage probably wont be too high anyways.

These places all seem to be using the same place to print their clothes. Anyone know what it is?

DMM? And yeah. Lot of western stores make items suspiciously similar to brands like Nile Perch, and Spank!
Also KG has a shirt that's basically a replica of a KATIE shirt that I've been trying to track down for a while with no lock, considering just getting their knock off version

I'd seriously buy some of these, but I don't want DANI LAMB DESIGNS so big on my shirt. It's cringey and not a cute name like "Cloud Pink" or something. Even "DLD" doesn't sound cute.

Anywho, that place has an apparel section that you can custom print all kinds of stuff for cheap. Umbrellas, crop tops, dresses, hooded pajamas. Bonus is that there's a 35% off coupon now so it's even cheaper.

Who was it that stole the pegasus design from CCK? I remember her being really distraught over that. It was like someone literally coming over to her at a con asking her things about how she made them then doing a cheap knock-off later on. Was this her or some other kawaii seller?

I don't want to support anyone that specifically steals CCK's Pegasus design since it's definitely one of her best sellers. I have one and her quality is much higher than other kawaii resin trash out there.

Chain type doesn't really matter (to me) as long as they're not too cheap feeling. I think a color other than silver looks more interesting, even gold. And as a side note I think longer chains or a choice of length is great, because they tend to be too short.

I don't know about everyone else but I'm absolutely tired of seeing the most basic stars/candies/seashells/bows/whatever you can get everywhere, if you are able to make your own molds that would be an instant step up from the usual IMO. Just anything to differentiate yourself, otherwise why would a customer go with you when they could go with 100 other already-established stores selling the same thing. I know it's not easy though. Good luck.

I dare to say, as someone who owns both spank! and CCK, that CCK's quality is better and the items are cuter and more detailed. The owner has come a long way from what she was making in about 2010-2011 and I'm proud of her.
A lot of people try to mimic CCK's success by creating very similar items although they are leagues apart in aesthetic and quality. It's pretty known that fairy kei crafter's draw inspiration from a lot of the same sources, it just comes down to talent and dedication to the craft and putting out quality items and service.
