It has absolutely nothing to do with brolitas though. And lolita isn't the fashion it goes for. This, however, was the closest, and easiest, route for it to follow in the live action. The actual manga and anime have more westerner clothing styles for their dresses. The occasional lolita outfit, but not exactly the style the real series goes by.

Again, the live action has nothing to do with brolitas.

This made me feel so embarrassed. I was just becoming interested in Lolita and buying art/street snap books on it. Then this happened and my I felt really confused. I was in junior high and I felt like she smutted up something that was really innocent. I even tried reading Lolita when I was 12 or 13 so I could understand everything and not even a chapter in a was able to reconigize the difference, and put the bool down. My mum kept laughing at it, however no matter my protests to explain she thought it was more cosplay than fashion. is the obvious choice.

I'll try and find some though. It's harder to identify other fashions outside lolita.

Media in Japan is easier to find. I'm trying to find references from stuff that made it overseas.

Not the anon who brought it up but i posted it in Rufflechat a while ago. They were super rude! Like when Kimura Yu told her model that it'd be cute if she could skip down the runway, the model scoffed and was like "omg it's sooo childish". The girl that Misako styled was in full BTSSB and was given a bonnet as a gift and she was also like "ok whatever I'm never gonna wear it. it's so stupid ugh." I forgot who styled the gyaru girl but she was also really rude. The girl who was helping her pick out clothes told her she looked kawaii a lot and she was like "if I hear kawaii again i'm gonna explode". The nanchatte girl was chill.

This. It's hard to watch too because her wardrobe... made sense to me. Even if she was kind of ita, a lot of the clothes they made fun of or threw away were just dead giveaways for someone into jfash, and would have fit in just fine with a lot of our wardrobes. It just goes to show how normies really are just so out of touch with subcultures, and are so quick to judge and make fun of us. I know that's obvious, but it just sucks to have to watch it happen to someone else and not be able to stand up for them.

If you want to be a fashion model you're going to have to wear all sorts of crazy shit and nobody gives a fuck about your opinion. The World Ends With You for the DS was based on Shibuya in Toyko. One of the stores you can visit is a Gothic Lolita store. If you grind hard enough, you can get everyone on your team to wear Lolita Dresses. Unfortunately the sprites in the game don't change to the clothes you wear but the tie-in manga did show what it would look like.

If I recall correctly it's about a lolita who can't find a real job so she decides to open a school for lolitas. Sometimes the rules of the school are funny but idk, most lolitas are grown adults or at least over 18 so I appreciated the drawings but felt a bit ashamed of the story as it reminded me of my weeb days.

Basically I wouldn't use this book to introduce lolita to someone or they'd think I'm a deluded girl who doesn't want to grow up and just play pretend princess.

If you like the aesthetics thought there's also END by Barbara Canepa, which isn't lolita but got a better story.

Pretty much. They try to open a school, neighbours rally and burn it down because they like boring things, they find Cinderella's magical merry-go-round, sell it to a rich guy, repair the school, everything is well again, the end.
Whoever wrote the story obviously wasn't a great writer as it was all over the place. I get they went for the fairy tale aspect but it's too childish.
