Old one is on autosage

This girl looks so cute, just wish she had a lavender bag

>> No.8412579

>>8412561
Why a lavender bag? I think the pink bag really pulls the pink details out of the dress. If anything, she needs to change something else to pink to bring the bag in, like the shoes (though, I like the shoes lavender, too).

>> No.8412583

Yeah, that's my problem with it. It's the only thing that's heavily pink, the rest is just the details in the dress. She needs more pink or a lavender bag.

I have considered ripping the headband off and putting the piece on a hairclip so that I can easily clip it to ponytails at an angle. I'm just too wuss to do it brand alterations of what seems like a popular piece.

I keep staring at it and somehow my brain can't understand what's happening...I thought she was just flat chested. Do her boobs really hang low enough that she can do that? Or is she pulling up the bodice really high? I don't get it.

>> No.8416166

>>8416158
Boobs are surprisingly very stretchy, and some breasts are already "shallow" meaning that they hang low on the chest.

Imagine you're trying on a dress and putting it on over your head. You can manage to pull your head through and shimmy your shoulders in, but your boobs can't quite make it past the unstretchable hem line that connects the waist to the bust. As a result the boobs are pushed there and there's not enough room in the bust to scoop them up.

Most people would take the dress off and concede that it doesn't fit. Some girls think that nobody can tell that there is lumpiness there, and that the dress can be pulled off as a babydoll type when it cannot.

If it's a shirred piece it's usually just a matter of removing the elastics or enlarging the measurement by finding matching fabric to add to the shirred panels.

If you're bad at sewing there are services who can do it for you.
I had a very good experience with Truly Darling Boutique on facebook. They altered my CDC jsk for me and now it fits like a glove. They took out the back shirring panel and added an elongated, shirred navy panel. Just be cautious because I hadn't sent them my waist ties, and they sent me an email asking if I wanted the solid color fabric since apparently they could have used the fabric from the waist ties to enlarge the panel. I wouldn't have wanted to do that, but keep in mind that is an option if you're not a fan of a solid color.

I love old school but some of the pieces don't fit comfortably without me adding 1-2 inches so I've altered a few pieces.

I bought baby's little red riding hood skirt in black because it was a dream piece of mine and since the waist band was solid black I was able to easily gather the skirt onto a new one. This would be an easy first alteration to try yourself.

Another easy alteration to do is enlarging a basic jsk without too much lace. I'm pretty sure miss lumpy has a tutorial on it.

If it's your first alteration I would recommend practicing on cheaper bodyline pieces.

>> No.8416437

Can't say I've ever felt that way, anon.
Either way you need to find out if they're accepting alteration requests at this time. If that gets settled then they invoice you through Paypal, you pay it (mine cost $21), you ship the dress (with tracking of course), and shoot them a message saying when the expected delivery is.

You could really play it risky and talk to any local seamstresses who have experience with enlarging dress measurements. The problem with that is they might not have experience with lolita dresses in particular so they could mess up the general shape unintentionally.

We've seen a lot of outfits nitpicked solely for the colour of their shoes or mixing whites. Even wearing a full set does not guarantee against ita-ness if you matched it with an office blouse or a totally unsuitable bag. Wearing a set isn't "easy to look good", in fact it's easy to look bland with a set as you blend into all the other girls who do a standard white blouse + matching shoes with their set.

I don't know if you realised this, but the Rose Toilette bonnet doesn't come with flowers. She added them, and personally I think it made all the difference to avoiding the floppy baby bonnet look. She's also mixing so many shades of pink in her outfit, some of which only appear once, but it's not noticeable as it's done pretty well. She also didn't go overboard by adding too many things to the dress, here you can see how pretty the dress is without veils and overdresses and other things getting in the way. Overall I'd say this shows good judgement and creativity on her part, set or no set. I don't think you should let an outfit being a set auto disqualify an outfit from just "looking good", that's a really narrow way to view things.

Otherwise, who gives a flying fuck. If it looks good, wear it. I think too many people in the west (especially on cgl) feel the need to stand out and not look like clones and be original-desu. Whatever. If I really like a series, I'll get the full set and wear it. I'll change it up from time to time, but I don't particularly care about being original. Removing the eye thing, hiding the bonnet ties, and blue shoes (not necessary) would make this great for me. As of now I think it looks fine though, if a little stiff.

>"Since this dress is fresh off the sewing machine (like I finished this about 30 minutes ago), I'd thought I'd pose the question:

"Would this be considered Lolita?"

I stopped wearing Lolita for quite a while. I'm not quite sure if this would be considered a good "summer" Lolita coord or just "Lolita inspired". I'd like the input of others!!

Coord(?) rundown:
Dress: handmade
Shoes: payless
Hat: thrifted

( yes, my hair is a very dark "jewel-toned" teal, I'm using my real hair bc it's like 85°F outside and it's hot )"
