Let's reminisce over when Juliette et Justine still released dresses with delicate details, choice fabrics, and didn't just throw out paintings with lazy bodices or photoshop vomit.

>> No.8399635

>>8399601
I still remember the days how excited the classic lolita community became over their first painting dresses in 2010-2011, everyone and their mom creamed theirselves over Amour d'amants or Rosery solennel, because this direction was so fresh and unusual and JetJ was the first brand who introduced painting dresses, so even though the designs were more simple, they yet had some kind of luxury and exclusive feeling to it.

I still like most of the painting dresses they came up with in 2011-2012, but after a while it just became boring and repititive. The older painting dresses were also much, much cheaper than everything they release nowadays, so they were worth the price imo. I still find it sad though, that they dropped their old route off completely, though. A few painting dresses a year would be fine, but I wish they kept their focus on the more detailed and luxury non printed dresses.

>> No.8399639

>>8399633
I think the first one they released that blew up to any degree was the Amour d'Amants robe, but I could be wrong, I stopped paying attention for a while in 2011.

The only painting dress that ever appealed to me is pic related.

I remember that, it was 2 or 3 years ago iirc. Most of the choices were more recent designs (aka painting dresses) or really ugly ass dresses that were never ever popular to begin with. Lot's of people were disappointed with the choices. Le Cadre du chat and Star Money won that survey, and that was already predictable with the choices there were.

I voted for the dragon dress, even though it wasn't one of the official choices, but yeah, it obviously didn't help.

I know a lot of lolita takes inspiration from old, western fashion, but sometimes it almost sounds clownish. Does no one in all of Japan know a bit of French to correct them? The worst I see is the prints are a little more blurry on some of my newer pieces and they seem to use slightly heavier fabric or add little hidden details in some of my slightly older pieces. I don't have any really old pieces though.

Everyone cites the Unicorn dress fiasco, and yes that was bad, but to JetJ's credit, they refunded return shipping and fixed the sizing for everyone who wanted it AND they shipped the dresses out back for free with an apology. Other than not messing up the size to begin with, they did everything in their power to make things right.

>they refunded return shipping and fixed the sizing for everyone who wanted it AND they shipped the dresses out back for free with an apology. Other than not messing up the size to begin with, they did everything in their power to make things right.

Good for you. I ordered my unicorn dress through a shopping service, and I never received the chance to get my dress fixed. I understand if dresses purchased through a shopping can not be returned, but at least, I expected an apology on that colossal fuck up they caused.
I wasted half a grand on that dress, all for nothing. Never ever fucking again.

And it's not the only piece they fucked up for me, maybe I'm really unlucky with JetJ, but wouldn't take the risk with them ever again.

While I agree there is nothing sexual about the dress, its not an American thing.

Lol yeah right. Don't act like you wouldn't still be upset because they actually did apologize once they realized how badly they fucked up.

I have maybe 6+ pieces of JetJ dating from Feerie onwards (including Unicorn). They don't really have "construction issues" per se, at least not in the way that Bodyline will have backwards print or sew a skirt panel upside down, or the way Soufflesong/Neverland is badly constructed, or the way 3F apparently employs drunk sewists. Every JetJ dress I have is made from decent fabric, the hems and seams are sewn straight, the print is properly centred, and every dress is finished nicely.

JetJ's "construction issues" seem to happen more in the design stage, I don't know if they're just bad design decisions or if they're actively trying to cut corners. For instance, if you buy an art print that's based off old artworks, those tend to come out looking blurry, maybe as a result of working with low res publicly available images. On another skirt (the castle skirt, I think), the skirt is not hemmed; the fabric apparently does not fray easily, so this seems to be a design decision on JetJ's part. It's just that when you paid that much for a skirt, it'd be nice for it to be hemmed, you know? For the Unicorn dress, while it's true that it's too small, for the entire production run to be entirely too small, means JetJ's sizing is actually pretty uniform for the entire production. Where they messed up was making the pattern too small in the first place. Every piece they mess up on has problems that are specific to that release, it's not a problem that happens to any random dress.

So basically, not really "construction issues" in the sense that they're shoddy, in fact, their quality is still top notch. But every year they seem to have a couple of specific pieces that has some kind of unexpected issue.

Deets? Never heard any complaints about their construction.

The post is members-only, but the long and short of it is that rainedragon bought a 3f skirt and found it to be shoddily sewn with every single straight line being anything but straight.

So perfect. They used to make so many classic-gothic things.

I bought one of JetJ's art collage prints and couldn't believe my eyes on the resolution on some of the elements. It's like 80% were perfectly crisp and the rest was obviously scaled up from way too small images. It was so obvious, why did no one care to find a higher resolution image?
