Watching people try and categorize everything in this thread and constantly disagree is hilarious. Most of this stuff can be left in it's main category, IMO, such as >>8398277

pic related is an example of a coord using an AatP print that is unambiguously gothic, from headdress to makeup to shoes. others have many sweet elements that keep them from being truly goth, pushing them toward the sweeter side.

I think the problem is some people get so defensive about what defines a certain substyle, gothic in particular is guilty of this as every gothic thread we've had girls get so riled up about someone having too many bows on their dress or not having the right bag to be considered gothic, which in most cases is petty nitpicking.I've also seen it happen with sweet, where in some extreme cases if its not unicorn pastel vomit its either called oldschool, classic, or ita. I agree that people should probably cool the fuck off with trying to wedge themselves into an even smaller niche within a niche but I also agree that substyles provide a nice set of guidelines to reduce the number of clusterfuck itas prancing about giving normies the wrong idea.
