The forecast doesnt look that bad. I mean Saturday is like 50% chance of rain but thats better than 90%. Rain in Tampa is usually just a quick 30 min downpour and then its over (except for yesterday it rained literally all day haha).

I've literally seen people bring in outside food with no problem. Just don't go waving it around in the CC staffs faces.

So did today feel kinda off for anyone? I forgot just how much the panels tend to suck at this con. I went into the cosplay tips and tricks panel and the host had only just discovered french seams. It kinda killed the mood for me.

The art in the AA was overall good. There are a few prints that I know I want to take home. But some of them, holy paint brushes, how did they get in.

I liked that they put registration in one of the bigger rooms, everything is nice and spread out so there is lots of space to do your badge stuff.

My BF was on the verge of fainting from hunger, so we bit the bullet and got the chicken teriyaki with noodles from the first floor food people. It tasted almost like someone had poured vodka in it. So wouldn't recommend unless dying.

BTW, Parking under the overpass was like 5 bucks from when I got there until 3am. So pretty sweet deal.

Sorry this is kinda been all over the place. I want to hear y'alls first day impressions.

The AA isn't juried, it's first come first serve for spots. So whoever has money and gets lucky when the tables go on sale (because it is always a giant clusterfuck with servers crashing) gets in. No talent required. There are a lot of super awesome booths though. Anyone know that one artist that said they were going to have free /cgl/ buttons? I couldn't find her today and I really wanted to snag one to commemorate my first Metrocon.

Only went in cosplay for a little while because I've been having some back pain and there's never any place to sit at Metro unless you go into a panel, but I ended up being there for a Zelda meet that I didn't know was going on. It was hotter than hell outside and a few of the cosplayers were painfully awkward, but it was my first meetup so that was kinda cool.

AA was pretty crappy this year. Nothing really jumped out there or in the dealers room.

What I got out of metrocon is that if you had any costume that maybe was above the knee staff would be present to harass you, the Metrocon group posts got more catty than 4chan typically does, and people were making their costumes even more obscene in protest here and there. Being there with friends and watching people push the boundaries with their cosplays was literally the only good thing about the con. Metro is becoming a baby catering con.
