Let's have a general, non-anime cosplay thread. Movies, TV-shows, video games and the like are welcome. Good and bad cosplays, questions, or advice are also welcome.

Posting from Acen. I'm the nigress.

I need some gun help though because the barrel of pic related snapped off in an accident. I went to find a replacement on Ebay (where I got it from) but they price at $100+ and I got mine for less than $30. Any recommendations for something similar at a price for a poor person like me? Or is there a remedy aside from nail glue because it's no longer holding together. A friend recommended a hot glue gun, but I dont want to melt the thing too much and have it crumple.

>>8392873
Epoxy resin, with some small holes drilled through, crossing from the broken end to the unbroken end and wires pushed through, then stuck with the resin? never done anything like that with a toy gun barrel, but it works for bricks. Stuff along that line anyway.

>yfw you are the superior Quiet, from outfit accuracy/completion to prop to body/pose

I think hot glue won't melt a molded plastic gun. If you're nervous about using that, E6000 or most superglues will work, but you should keep some black acrylic or spray paint on hand because if you put on a little too much glue and it oozes out, it'll dry crusty and white (but impossible to pick off) - unnoticeable if painted over, though.

>>8392903
Thanks, but I actually messed the pose up. She holds her gun lower but I tend to freeze up to the point where I look uncomfortably stiff. I need to be more aware of my body because it makes a difference when someone asks me to pose in a certain way vs just doing my own thing.

And thanks for the advice as well. Hopefully I can get it fixed soon since I want to re-cosplay her for Midwest, but don't want to be without the gun.

Suggestion if you want to go for accuracy on the gun. Also, you won't get called out by Metal Gear fags. Gun that Quiet uses is called an M40A3 judging by screenshots and the teaser. Might wanna check it out on ebay.

It's on par with seeing Pearl and Steven cosplays and going "hey, I love Steven Universe!"
Nobody thinks you're only naming Steven, it's understood that you're referring to the show. It can be a little confusing, but it's a little like synecdoche logic.

Bumping with another self post. Also shoe advice. I was on a budget and found these on sale but they absolutely kill my feet. Can anyone recommend a pair that are over the knee and not $200? These were originally priced at $110 but I sacrificed high platforms for a good discount. But at the same time I required an escort for everywhere I went because seriously these things are painful to wear even after a few minutes.

>> No.8401201

>>8401194
What brand are they? I think Pleaser has a pair like that. Alternatively you could get some pumps with a concealed platform (Pleaser also makes tons of these) and put thigh high socks over them.

>> No.8401219

>>8401201
For the socks, that's kinda how these are made only the material is thicker. Black velvet. I don't know the brand but their description is here if you scroll down: http://skyscraperheels.com/boots/index.htm

As for Pleaser, I'd like to be able to try them on first. But the only places I know that sell them are online and that's if it's in my size anyway.

Do boot covers. Might not look like "real" shoes but its much cheaper and for cosplay, most people can forgive "meh" shoes because shoes are generally really expensive.
Also its better since you can use a pair of shoes that are more comfortable for the base.

>> No.8402045

>>8401998
The I've been to multiple Spencer's and they usually never have shoes. Plenty of cheap handcuffs though.

>>8402030
Thanks for the suggestion. Any examples of something close to Lana's? Those I see on Google generally stick to heels+thigh highs or the wrong type of boot which really bothers me.

I like pic related's though.

Pleaser are very comfy and durable. I have huge feet (12) and pretty much exclusively rely on Pleaser and its offshoot brands because they seem to be the only company that can get larger sizes right.

If you can wait until fall, pretty much every Halloween store I've been in sells them though they're usually rebranded.

Do you have any adult stores near you? They often carry some.

Though it appears Sheik sells them and there's plenty where I live. Just need to hope the store I visit has it in stock. But really, thanks for the advice I appreciate the help. Will most definitely get a pair once I can afford to.

You look nice, definitely have the resemblance down and looks screen-accurate enough from what I can see of the outfit. It might just be the filter on the photo, but I'd recommend getting some high gloss spray finish and going over your metallic pieces, because right now they look a little flat. Renly should shine like the homosexual beacon he is.

Hunter Thompson as seen in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
I was tripping on LSD that day too. I thought "Why pretend to be someone who's tripping sack when you could actually do it and really be in character?" People liked it a lot more than I thought, it was a damn good time. I was somewhat new to cosplaying, so I wasn't sure what to expect. (I never really cosplayed before, I just saw others do it).

I'd buy a cheapie white polo and dye it. You'll need to get some RIT dye and test it on some muslin to get the right color.

I looked on RIT dye's website for their seasonal pantone colors, which give you how much to use, and this looked perfect for your cosplay.

Good luck! Hope this helps.

>> No.8407344

Fabric dye will stain your clothes properly as opposed to a regular say, food dye or vice versa.

And yes, dyes of the same nature can be mixed. I personally recommend just grabbing the two liquid editions of the two RIT dyes they suggest for that color and follow their instructions and measurements on the site. I've also had experience with having to tweak the measurements a tad. That's why I say get some cheapie muslin and cut into squares to test each time you need to do a tweak.
