Yes it can be overcome. Look at a ton of good coords, look at coord help threads. Try to put a bunch of coord collages together and ask for feedback. You can avoid your first ita coord if you do this and spend more time picking out items that go together.

currently am going through this period myself...i think it's mostly because when i got into lolita, i didn't always have money to go and buy everything i wanted for a coordinate. like, i didn't have the money to delve right in and buy my first BL coordinate all in one go. i still was very much into lolita, so i did a shitload of lurking and reading as i saved stuff up. since it took me so long to save up and also buy pieces i liked (since as i read/lurked moar my tastes changed), basically gaining knowledge/understanding then buying pieces, i think i was able to make wiser choices for my coordinates and wardrobe pieces. i think slowly piecing together my first coordinate is what made it look decent. (simple, some nitpicks, but decent).

just don't forget that experience is what makes good coords, or at least that's how it should be (if you count lolitas who have apparently been in the fashion for 7-10 years and still look like massive trainwrecks). reiterating that you can overcome scary ita disasters for sure, but don't expect your first coordinate to look like you just stepped out of a brand page in GLB, either. i think with a good fashion sense outside of lolita + enough lurking you should def be able to look decent your first time around imo

I get them incorrect for picking the correct images sometimes, but I make sure I pick the right picture because it'll tell me it's incorrect but then that gets taken into consideration if it's correct or not because duh, I am a human, so I'm gonna know the fucking difference between drinks and food. The reason it lets you do it over and over again is so it can learn what images correspond with what text.

My lolita coordinates improved so drastically when I came to /cgl/. Instead of seeing lolitas getting assphats all the time and thinking they had good taste, I learned to critique coords on a deeper level by seeing others nitpick everything.

I don't really fear getting posted here anymore, or to nitpick threads. The fringe hasn't been trimmed. It needs a good cm or so shaved off to sit properly instead of being swept aside.

The blouse is also a bit weird. Oldschool blouses always have ridiculous lacy collars that disguise JSK necklines.They blend with the dress better because of their size and decoration. That one is just too clean, and looks odd above the JSK neckline because it's rather dainty.

I wouldn't say it's ita by any means, but a different blouse would have probably worked better.

I have such mixed feelings about this post.

On the one hand, it looks like the person bitching about the blouse is newb -- the sleeveless dress paired with the high gloves and the hair looks like gyaru, and I'd personally think this was a failed attempt at some kind of lolita-gyaru crossover, or maybe just gyaru with a lolita dress. So someone crying "wear a blouse!" sounds like a newb for not picking up on that.

On the other hand, pic does looks pretty subpar because the wig is badly styled, the gloves and accessories look cheap, everything below the knees look lolita rather than gyaru and is messy to boot, making for a very confused look.

The mangaka went the way of anime weeby lolita when she drew the manga. I'm not sure if they tried to carry it over to the show, or if they employed a wardrobe person who genuinely has no clue what lolita is and simply slapped together some things to make outfits.
