Are there any substyles you wish were done better more often, done my more seasoned lolitas, or was just different overall? POst 'em here.
I wish people would make bittersweet more guro-kawaii or kowai-kawaii.

I also wish bittersweet were done well/done more often. I'd also love to see me decora/fairy kei with gothic elements, like creepy cute or whatever we're calling it these days.

I feel like a part of it is that girls that attempt these styles are trying to cram in SO MANY different things into their coords that it becomes unbalanced. Like if you're going with bones stick with bones. Bats stick with the bats. Etc.

I love it too! I feel like such a gross ita for loving it, but I can't help myself. Creepy cute/ pastel goth has all the cute bat prints and my favorite pastel colors. Lolita needs more bats.

proper pastel goth lolita. not creepycute or bittersweet! gothic in cut, style, etc., but with pastels. people take it too far into sweet every time.

I hate myself because I remember quite a few years ago I wanted to start getting into fashion and I wanted to dress cute but I tend to like really gross/creepy things macabre books and horror movies. So creepy cute was really appealing to me but I had no idea it was going to be appealing to so many other girls too... and that it would become synonymous with stupid tumblrina's who think "Oh you can wear whatever you want, ignore people saying you look shitty because you should do what makes you happy!" because that's just actual bullshit.

So now I'm gonna try to keep them separate cause I don't want that SJW label anywhere on me.

I want to attempt Punk Lolita some time soon, mostly because it's so hit and miss, and I'd like to see if I could manage to hit.
What are the most commonly made mistakes, anons? I plan to keep it reasonably simple, but what have any of you seen in a punk coord and cringed at?

I don't think it was ever considered a real substyle but I'd love it if mori/lolita hybrids were more of a thing. It's really hard to pull off because lolita is mostly about the silhouette and relatively clean lines whereas mori is largely about layering and more layering, often without any waist definition.
Maybe well-done mori/lolita would be closer to natural-kei and Pink House style, now that I think of it.

Let's bring back natural-kei pls anons

People who try punk lolita tend to think thank that red tartan skirt + leather jacket = punk.

If I were to try, I think I would do it somewhat like this: Hair buns with latex bows, leather jacket, simple short sleeved cutsew, green tartan skirt with chains, ripped two layer tights and rocking horse shoes.

Honestly I just dont really care what people think of me, but if I'm going to join a fashion, I would like to be accepted instead of torn apart. That's why I have my reservations.

when you said 'mori/lolita hybrids' I automatically thought of Pink House (which admittedly is more commonly associated with natural kei). I think it might be worth looking at their collections for inspiration, especially as they are often credited in part, with developing what lolita fashion style became.

I'm sure this is a dumb question but..
I recently got this sailor moon hot topic dress (see? that just sounds ita)
And it really reminds me of a salopette. Is there anyway to wear this in a cute way? My first thought was pastel-goth, but maybe with a blouse instead? I'm not really sure.
pic related was the type of style it reminded me of.

I feel like a ton of people think punk means "ignore the basic guidelines of the fashion". You can play with patterns and textures while still sticking to the silhouette and general rules of lolita. Nothing wrong with tartan and leather, imo, but you have to carry the theme throughout. I like a lot of h.Naoto's distressed and tattered skirts, and maybe something in-between a blouse and a cutsew. Nicer than a plain t-shirt basically, but not as fancy as a blouse. I've got some punk coord ideas kicking around as well, but I'm really worried about the execution. It's a fine line, I guess. I got the pictured Peace Now skirt that I want to incorporate into a punk-ish coord.

it might be good to look up how the look of "punk" began in the first place, and see if you can apply those ideas to lolita. to me, the DIY aspect and rebellion are key.

entering personal fantasy mode... deconstructing burando would be very punk rock. remaking it into something elegant/cute would be very lolita.

>AP/Moitie hybrid made of second-hand JSKs
>offbrand jacket cut short to not obstruct skirt poof
>distressed wig, cut and styled outside of lolita norm
>torn OTKs over fishnets
>patches of various prints sewn onto bunnybear bag

anyone who tried it would be labelled edgy/tryhard, but no one liked punks when they first began either.

I actually have been shifting my wardrobe to more of this style. Pink House is a big inspiration for me and I want to buy from them someday. However, taobao does have some dresses and accessories that are very similar in style to Pink House. For example, I recently purchased a natural kei style dress from ciciworks and yolanda. We are out there anon> Just very few of us I guess
