I never gave much though to that, but I can totally see where you are coming from!

A lot of here looks involve: lots of layered chiffon and her typical minori make-up.
maybe that is the why I love these kimono looks of hers so much more.

Has anyone tried to tie in cosplay and shironuri? I've seen lolita and shironuri but I'm wondering if it's possible to do something like a shironuri gijinka design.

I'll do my best. I've been wanting to do a priestess style gijinka based on the nine-tailed fox style demon and do shironuri makeup based off the traditional fox mask. Probably setting my sights a bit too high for a first time but yeah.

I've been doing some test shironuri looks for Kcalb and Etihw from The Gray Garden (pic related). I haven't found anything successful as of yet, but I think that the style would work really well with a lot of Mogeko's characters, given that so many of them are drawn with white skin to begin with. Personally, I think it's just a matter of trying things out until I find looks that'll work.

Well uh, it is shironuri, that's what the style means, and is defined by white faced makeup. If what you're asking is, what the fashion they are wearing is called outside of shironuri w/o the makeup then most of it is a mix of mori, natural kei or cult party kei stuff.

I adore the look of shironuri and it is more chubster friendly than lolita but how do you go out in this daily?

I think getting accepted might be more difficult than lolita too. Especially if you life at the country side.

I don't think people wear shironuri besides arranged walks/meet-ups or photoshoots.
Streetshots are very few, and I cannot believe Minori wear this daily. She might go to tokyo and meet up with the tokyo fashion photographer, making it look like an accident they met each other. Also wearing this make-up a lot, cannot be good for your skin.

They do look like they'd transfer pretty well. I also think No Face from Spirited Away would be a fantastic design as well.

This is sort of what I'm going for. Not as much red/black but I want to mimic the paint on the mask I'm getting to make it a close copy. The outfit will be either a shrine maiden skirt design or if I do a male version, the generic pants version and I'm hopefully getting some tails off Taobao as well.

I'm just worried about layering red paint over white. I know Minori uses eyeshadow but that won't be as dramatic as I'd like.

I think Minori is one of the few who do? Everyone else I've seen from the Japanese scene (aside from one here or there) don't wear them. I have seen one or two in this thread paint the backs of their hands though. I think it's because the emphasis is on your face being white.

A lot of shironuri who wear traditional clothing&old school uniforms are influenced by angura-kei (and sometimes eroguro-kei), like Inugami circus-dan, for example.

I think you can get a bright, intense red with eyeshadow if you just layer it on enough, and pat it over the white creme base with densely-woven shadow brushes. It seems like your other option would be to do the layer of white in a thinner makeup (aquacolour, liquid foundation, powder...) set it with barrier spray, and then use a thicker type of makeup on top (creme, pigment, or more of the same type of makeup, just caked on more). The big downside though, is that your white might not be as nice and bright/opaque if you go that route. The use of eyeshadow is nice/often used with shiro b/c you can always build up that intensity if you've got highly pigmented shadows.
