Real talk though, this has been the best con I've been in since AX 2011 and 2012. I didn't even go to a single booth or panel and yet i was having the time of my life.

There were a lot of downs, but I'm just glad i had the best friends to hang out with

Not sure if it was just me, but cosplay seemed super sparse. Like there wasn't a lot of any one series or anything. And I don't mean people randomly wearing seifuku or attack on titan hoodies, I mean full costume, makeup and wig cosplay.

All the cosplay gatherings I went to had hoards of photogs outnumbering the cosplayers by a lot.

Still a chill con through, area and food is always good. Went to both Ai Nonoka panels, those were cool. Might try for Sakuracon next year instead though and skip Fanime next time.

Honestly I'm kinda glad about this compared to last year, where it was nothing but fucking homestuck and my little pony.

I was pretty sad that there were very few of those bear girls from that one bear-girl-princess anime thing. My girlfriend watched it but I didn't, but we still could hardly find any.

Did any of you guys hit up the maid cafe? we were the second group in line on the first day, and it was honestly a lot cooler than I thought it would be.

Pokemon Friend Safari 2 was also a blast.

Honestly the coolest parts inside the con itself was the artist alley and meeting all the cool artists I follow. I met the chick that made pic related and had her sign it, honestly this whole time I assumed it was made by a lonely neckbeard in his basement, and not a very QT3.14 azn girl.

Also met Alex Ahad, the guy who did all the art and design for Skullgirls, so that was rad as fuck.

often times if you see someone in a cool outfit, that might be your only chance to get a picture with them.

In my experience all the cosplayers were more than happy to get a picture taken.

yeah like the other dude said, literally the only time I can recall a cosplayer saying no was when she was late to meet up with friends, and another because she was walking all day and didn't want to stand up. both of which I totally understand.

If a cosplayer just plainly said no, then I wouldn't ask more into it, but I love to actually talk to the people beforehand anyway.

I could say I'm definitely having withdrawls I miss the vibes I got from all the people,I felt like I was able to socialize with everyone but didnt.
The only thing to dissapointed me was the gaming hall nit alot of games that I play and the ones I liked I had to pay.screw that. Besides that I got to enjoy everything else fanime had to offer,overall I had an an awesome experience. My favorite cosplay was a fun sized juri awesome cosplay. Funny enough I bought a juri figure!
The rave was badass alot of cool people I saw and I just had a blast. Even hentai night as always was great. (Pic related)

This I was very much ok with, but more cosplay stuff from recent seasonal anime would have been nice. But cons are pretty casual, if it doesn't have a dub or isn't being pimped out for localization by a big company the majority of folks won't recognize it.

Yeah the gamers hall was kind of a let down. There was a league tournament but they only accepted the first 8 teams, and yet kept letting people sign up for it for hours. My team signed up super early, and we waited for about 3 hours before they finally said they were only taking the first 8 full teams.

The touhou fightan-game tournament was awesome to watch though.

Fanime was eh. Only went to a few panels, two were interesting and one was great, dealers was unimpressive and i only bought a shirt because i realized i didnt pack one i wanted to bring. AA had too many print tables for my liking, i mean i understand that its good art but why charge 20+ for a copy of something you worked on and then got scanned and printed 50+ of ? The best part of con for me was seeing dickbutt and the lack of clusterfuck at reg on thursday.

It seemed like there were less people this time. It was hard to tell if it was just more dispersed crowds from construction or having everything spread out. There were for sure too many people in previous years but it seemed like this year there was a large attendance drop off.

Overall, pretty good con, although I did mostly the same stuff as last year. Dealers is getting boring at this point, but I still managed to spend around $100. Feel good not spending any on anime shit.

Got some positive reception with my speaker Saturday, we got a chant for the pokemon theme. Got the protesters all riled up when the cops told them to stop using the megaphone, he even tried starting some shit with me but he backed down real quick. all in all my favorite one since the first time I went. lots of sweet swag. had a blast on the melee setups too.

Made the rest of the Con a bit harsh.
Went to the dual sword dojo panel.
Went to Hentai screening Friday.
Midnight Sleeze Train was very... Intense.
And didnt make it to Back-On concert
But made it to final of the Smash 4 4v4 tourney

I am curious about this. I had two guys ask to take photos with me and I was not even cosplaying. One guy took a selfie of us (so if he thought my outfit was cool it wasn't even in the photo). The other guy had his friend take the photo of us.

Got sweet Akira and Do You Remember Love t-shirts (cut the sleeves and the necks and turned them into bitchin tank tops), some anime on Blu-ray (GITS Arise, Wings of Honneamise, The Tale of the Princess Kaguya, and Jin Roh), Megazone 23 Part III OST, and a new fluffy fox tail for my purses and bags.

Honestly, this was really lacking this con compared to last year, and there wasn't anything that really wowed me (aside from that big yellow Zaku). I remember seeing waaaaaay more really rad cosplays last year. As >>8353465 already mentioned, there wasn't any real dominant anime being represented. Some things I noticed were a good amount of Spike, Jet, and Ed from Cowboy Bebop, but no Fei (seriously?), and also a good amount of Cardcaptor Sakura. I guess both of these are because of the re-releases of these onto Blu-ray earlier this year. I saw some Durarara, but I would have thought that there would have been a lot more considering that we are in the middle of season 2 right now.

Only caught the tail end of the 18 and up panel about VNs and eroge. First and only panel I've been to at Fanime (it sucks that they are located so far away from the convention center). Also had fun at the hentai music videos (#2 was funniest, but seriously lacking in actual hentai).

Not at all. Took some molly and some THC pills on Saturday night, bar hopped, then headed back to the con, my friends all went to the dance, and I ran away and played shmups until 3:00 am, where I made some new friends who are really into shmups. We had a blast.

There was a really cute Motoko Kusanagi (Major) I saw on Sunday night heading back inside the Fairmont. Cute short asian, dang I wished I talked to her.

I wish I actually bought a pass this year. I actually hung out with a few friends at Fanime during the night time and it was really fun. We drank, tried going up to parties in the hotels, but in the end we couldn't do much because some of us forgot to borrow passes. I need to hit up anime again to find some pretty ladies.

I need to get fit next year so I can gain the confidence to hit up some Fanime chicks. Girls who love anime and geek culture and a good percentage of them are short asians? Yeah, it's a long journey but i need to remember this goal.

nope. dealer's hall was pretty shit, IMO. spent way too much in AA from a few of my favorite artists that i only see at fanime though. AA was WAY too print-heavy IMO and i missed seeing the craft tables.

was it me, or were there not that many really awesome costumes this year? the gundams were great, and i saw a really gorgeous lady oscar, but overall i was really underwhelmed by most of the costumes.

karaoke contest (made the top 10!), toku meetups, people recognizing my goddamn scarlet claw costume.

I was leaving a panel with a friend when I saw a guy throwing shit off the tables on the second floor of the fairmont, some girl drama I believe since he was screaming some shit about a guy touching his girl and he seemed drunk. also, did anyone have a wierd experience with their car battery dying at the fairmont underground parking lot? both mine and my buddys car had to be jumped after the 2 night stay, and we are 100% sure it wasnt leaving the headlights on.
my 04 acura tl shuts off after the keys are ouyt of range.
its a very rare instance that a battery dies, but for both of our cars to die at the same time has got to be super rare.
after we got jumped we drove home and they turned back on this morning just fine/ i have a feeling it has something to do with the facility butcould use some imput

This was my first Fanime, and I didn't like it as much as other smaller cons.
Having kids in middle school at the con after 1:00 AM was really weird, and the panels being so far away from the con is really inconvenient.

This was my second Fanime and I had a pretty good time. Bought a shirt from the dealer's hall and some pins from the AA...not much of a swag or merch person. Went to the Let's Play an Eroge panel and read outloud, it was great. HMV's were amazing as always (USA! USA!) Admired lots of qts in cosplay (to the gorgeous Space Dandy I kept seeing all day Friday: I want you.) I actually made friends this year! Met two guys at the rave Saturday night, went and got food with them and got high in their car. Was too shy to try and go to any room parties though. My group doesn't want to go to Fanime again for at least a couple years but fuck it, I might come back next year. It was a good time.

Fanime was fun! Cosplayed days 2 and 3 and probably only got a total of 5 pics taken of me combined, but I knew I wasn't going to get much taken of me since I wasn't cosplaying anything particularly interesting anyways. I want to say that karaoke was good, but it annoyed me that they'd have songs with the vocals in them as backing track. Don't tell me that you can't find an instrumental track of an old mainstream Vocaloid and expect me to be particularly happy about it.

I got to the line an hour before start time because I wanted good seats, and we ended up at the front of the line.. Honestly, you don't really need to be able to see anything because the "wrestlers" move around a lot, and sitting up front sometimes sucked because all the chanting in the room behind us drowned out the speakers. Also the hecklers in the front won't shut the fuck up, so seats anywhere in the room would be fine. You just need to not sit on the far edges of the rooms and you'd be fine

Went there for the cgl meet up with 2 fellow seagulls because we both wanted to check it out, spent my entire time with them throughout the weekend, partying, walking around, drinking boba.

If I have to be honest, the both of them were pretty much the reason why I enjoyed the con, and I'm pretty thankful for being in /cgl/ since it was the reason why I met the both of them in the first place.

You guys think you're giving too much credit to the CWF staff and wrestlers for Fanime? I don't watch too much wrestling and really came for the performances. I ask as that the crowd was more interested in cheering and going nuts and chanted because they want to chant. There were some wrestlers who got crazy amounts of boos and who barely said two lines in the microphone but because of the mob mentality it appeared he was getting a good response.

As someone who was at the show last year I felt 2015 was WAY better just because I actually got performances from wrestlers as opposed to just a bunch of loud crowd noises and claps. The staff and wrestlers did not matter, those people were going to cheer even if the stage was empty

1. Con Was amazing, I met so many great people. Only wished we had 2 more nights, if there was anymore, I would have died from alcohol poisoning.

2. I got a Takanya plush(expensive but it's the only one that caught my eye.) And. Satsuki Keychain

3. Favorite cosplay has to be that Hope cosplayer, didn't see him around too much.

4. The back on concert was hype, but I was on the upper level and everyone was sitting down, but I was drunk and loud.....but it's a concert cmon people.

Midwest-fag's first Fanime: I had a pretty great time. I didn't really do any con events at all, but the cosplayers and people I met and chatted with around the convention were awesome. Dealer's room left a lot to be desired in my opinion, but I was just getting off of ACEN the previous weekend so there might be some bias there.

Loved all the outdoor areas where cosplayers just milled around and did pictures and stuff. Saw a tiny child Guts cosplay and I lost my damn mind, fuckin' too adorable. Would probably go again, San Jose seems like a fun city in the wandering around I did looking for food and such.

As a staff member of Fanime, I am interested in knowing how people who attended Fanime feel how they did their job this year?

I want to ask because I too am a staff member, but I wasn't a rover or a hardcore staff member, just for a department.

Take note that although you may have met a few mean/harsh staff members, these staff members did all of this without being paid (they did it for free), and did it only to help the convention. Overall, they're nice.

What many people probably didn't know was that alot of the staff left the Fanime staff to join other cons, for reasons unknown.

from my own observations, masquerade seemed to be just as disorganized and a shitshow as the past couple of years. very little pre-con communication, few updates, etc.

karaoke staff were on point.....contest on friday went off without a hitch and the people who run karaoke do a good job.

higher up staff continue to be a pain in the ass....late announcements on EVERYTHING this year was frustrating. jesus, back-on had to announce themselves because fanime higher ups couldn't be assed to do it in a timely manner.

On of the funniest moments from the con for me was when me and my friends met up with more of their friends. One of them was a normie and he said something along the lines of, "it's really tricky being here because there are so many cute girls, but a lot of them are actually men." I actually enjoyed the Saint Claire despite the construction. The only part I didn't like was having a room next to Squidward Tentacles and his clarinet, which he practiced with six hours a day in two hour intervals throughout the day.

Con was great, most fun I've had at Fanime in years mostly due to skipping a year and having more friends to enjoy it with. As for swag, I got a flask with the fire nation logo on it, it was also there last one so that felt nice. There was a really well done esdeath cosplayer I couldn't take a picture off because my phone was death so if you got pics please share and my favorite event has to be the back on concert. and only hangover I got was the kind you get when you eat too many weed chocolates, you know that weird ( but not bad) feeling you sometimes get the next day that doesn't go away until you take a shit : )

I haven't seen my kid brother (14) in years. I am a 28 year old woman. My mom said I should bring him to Fanime with me, let him see what it is I do. I refuse at first. She gets on my case. Day one goes better than expected, and he is so thrilled and enthusiastic, it is rather refreshing.

Night one comes and we are about to retire for the night, but then he sees the line for the rave outside our hotel. He wonders what its all for and why everyone looks so loopy. I tell him about the dance and how people might "Get a little drunk to loosen up." We head back to our room and I crash... eventually.

Wake up in the middle of the night and can't find my kid bro anywhere. Start to panic. Go down back to the con in my jamies and look high and low for him.Finally remember the rave and have to wait in line to search for him there.

Finally get in and look all over, dark and loud and flashes of light. No sign of him. Fuck fuck fuck! Damn I want to dance! Damn him! Look all over again, leave the rave, look all around for hours. Sit at a table near the video rooms, trying to think of what the fuck to do.

I spot the little shit coming out of the Mariott! Part of his costume is ripped, and his hair is all fucked up. I rush over to him and call his name, pissed and relieved at the same time.
