So anons, I really love the whole aluminum foil method, it makes my hair so springy and curly and when I finger comb it, it gets super fluffy and I can turn it into the most awesome hairstyles for lolita. Honestly, the only way short hair looks good in lolita is if you can give it enough volume. Shortest I'd ever go would probably be mid-cheek and either fluff it out, or curl it. Otherwise I'd say you'd have to go with a fairly big hat or a bonnet to balance it out instead.

Instead of picking up each piece of hair "lower" (like you do for a normal french or dutch braid, assuming you know how to do that) it has to be "next to/beside/along from" the piece you just used. It's the same principle but going around rather than down.

Its a lace braid, which is like a french but with only taking from one side. So you start with a small section at your temple, and add from only the top.of your head, and only on the strand that is closest to the top. The other part to keep it going around your head and not anywhere else is just placement of your hands, keep the braid tight against where you want it to be. So since it si around your crown, you have to move your hands to get behind your head. It helps with a mirror to make sure that it is working well.

If you dont know how to do lace or french/dutch braids though, practice with those first before worrying about placements of the braid.

Definitely don't go for super blunt, full straight across bangs. Textured straight across bangs would be my pick, and definitely not too short - you want them to sit just below your eyebrows. Longer layers at the side would also be good, the length should finish between the cheekbones/lips usually. The other option I like is longer, side-swept bangs

I have curly hair like very tight curls from the very root, meaning bangs mean mistake and wearing headbands for eternity.

It depends on the style you are going with. The hardest to do is sweet because it isnt done much besides afros and the loose curl at the end kind of look. I can see gothic being the easiest because you can let the craziness of big curly hair do its thing and it looks fine. I would also look into how braids look, and what types suit you.

Also you can have bangs with curly hair, it just isnt how straight hair bangs look. Its a bit harder to know how your curls will be that short so I get its a risk. I usually just part my hair to the side and have shorter hair near my face for a similar kind of effect.

Yeah, it's me! It's really easy, all you do is wrap your hair around something, pull it off and flatten it into a coil and wrap a piece of foil around it, then hold your flat iron over it for 10-20 seconds. Do that all around your head then wait for them to cool down. It takes about ten minutes for them to cool down entirely, but if you want your curls to be more loose, you can take them out while they're still a little warm.
Basically, the smaller the section of hair and the tighter you make the little coil, the tighter the curls will be, but the longer it will take. In the picture, I probably did about one inch sections wrapped around my finger and ended up with about twenty foils? It took me about a half hour. But another time, I did larger sections and I curled them loosely around my finger, and ended up with wider, but equally springy curls. The next time, I did the same but pulled them out while they were still a little warm and ended up with loose, springy curls. You just have to experiment.
I'm sorry I don't have a link for a tutorial, I only had someone explain it to me. Also, for reference, my hair is a little past shoulder length and I more or less have Hermione hair.

You could try clip-in bangs. I've seen girls with very curly hair do it and it doesn't look weird so long as they match your hair color and you hide the separation with your headdress. I think braided hairstyles that still show off your texture would be really pretty. There was a girl in one of my classes who had bright red hair just like your pic, and she would do all these big, voluminous braids and it looked amazing.

Yes it's meant for doing children's hair but there are lots of step by step tutorials for natural hair updos that could be used for Lolita. I don't have a lot of things for non straight hair. Personally have a weird hair texture which my dad refers to as "a straight fro" so straightening my hair is pretty easy.
