Hey, I thought I'd ask in this thread since it's somewhat relevant.

I have access to a web designer who is willing to work for free to create a Lolita Lookbook.
It'll focus on functionality, tagging systems for brands, popularity ratings, proper search functions etc.
I was wondering how much of a want/need is it to have something that is easily accessible for inspiration? I know that searching through tumblr, facebook and Daily_Lolita is just a pain in the butt when I'm looking for something specific.

I don't want to start work on something like this if there's not a need for it; but I know I personally hate the navigation on all the options we have available now.

Nah she definitely does, her Facebook profile is open, I remember reading through some of the comments on a photo she posted, I think of an older coord. One of her friends (who I think was black) mentioned something about her skin/foundation color, and then she replied saying that lolita doesn't look good on her "dark olive skin" or something and that she literally buys the darkest shade of japanese? foundation at daiso which obviously as you can see is too light for her. As dopey as she is I feel kind of bad for her. I don't like that at all. Maybe it's just me, but I think there are quite some clashing white and creams in there. The collar and the scepter give it a royal feel, but then the cheap crown, the under the knee socks and the shoes ruin it all. I just think that an OTT classic coords needs to be made of high quality materials, otherwise it just looks tacky. That's just my opinion and I can understand that people like this kind of stuff, but for me this coord just looks off (and also way too top heavy).

I don't think I'm the one who's butthurt here, anon. I don't have a problem with the trendy items, and I didn't say the collar needed to be larger. The outfit just isn't cohesive and her makeup looks horrendous. The crown is nice but it doesn't really go with anything (it looks sax?), the bracelets look cheap and don't match the outfit, the socks are too sweet for the rest of the outfit and having the cool offwhite shoes with the yellowy socks looks really bad. The scepter would be fine but it doesn't match anything either. If she had more gold in her jewelery instead of those pearls the crown and scepter would look a lot better, and if she changed her socks to something that actually matched the outfit, the shoes and crown would probably look fine. Nothing could save that godawful makeup except washing it off and starting over.

I like the idea, hate the execution. The sock height, the slightly not matching whites, the crown not really meshing with the sceptre. I think it is the choice of crown and socks that irks me the most. Swap the socks for lace tights (she could do white, or a jewel tone matching the dress maybe?) and a crown that matches the gold sceptre better and I'd love it.

This is a huge pet peeve of mine with the "Convention OTT" standard. You get asspats for wearing something that at first glance seems elaborate, but that's actually poorly put together.
Her makeup is awful, there's nothing to balance the colour of the dress, the prop is shoehorned in and not matched with anything. It just falls flat overall.

The coord is alright above the hem if in need of some color in the accessorizing, even if pairing a rich colored dress with white/ivory is one of my pet peeves... But shit sock+shoe selection is my biggest pet peeve, so I have to agree with you. Take away the costume pieces and it's not that great.

To answer your question: she's pretty, has a nice wig, and has props. And a decent natural light photograph. That's about it.

I'd change the shoes to darker ones and swap the UTKs (I love them but not for this coord) for crocheted tights.

Outside of that it's kind of nice to see a different approach to classic coords. It has a few OTT elements but it isn't the more common 'pile on underskirts/flowers/etc' that is popular right now.

The white wig was a cheap one that she bought for shironui/color testing. I think it's the first time she has ever worn a wig. I've talked to them about wigs before and they buy cheap shit to test out colors first.
Atlas has really lovely natural hair, but used to have no idea how to do make-up. The comm had to help teach her. Mimi wears adorable afro puffs.

Actually, pulling off two toned coords are rather difficult, cause you need to be so very careful with the colour balance. She succeeded in doing this, the balance between the monotones are perfect, i.e. if she had a blonde wig instead to this coord, it wouldn't have been as good. Even a black long wig would have changed the outcome to the worse drastically! Adding black x black in her hair as well is so clever - most newbs would opt for something white, thinking it would balance out better - but the understated florals are now such an epic touch. The cross necklace also achieves the attention it deserves. This is stunning, elegant and really hard to pull off. That's why it gets all the attention.
Agree with the bag though, ugh it looks cheap!

I owned this exact dress, same colorway, etc. I'm also busty. It's extremely stretchy in the back so I can see why she would say it's comfortable. However, this motherfucker rides up like no tomorrow. If I tried to pull it down so the bottom sat below my bust it was into porn star cleavage land. When I walked, it would ride up so my petti would be showing. The dream sky OP did this too, but not quite as bad. When DS would stay put it would actually look flattering on me. This though, it ended up looking like ruched man pecs. I sold it after wearing it about two times. Both times I wore it with a bolero/cardigan.

Just a heads up for next time. I really love this coord. The idea of putting a little layer under the lace to make the details pop is awesome!

I just hate those wings on the shoes, it just doesn't work in my opinion. Also I'm not sure about the purse either. The color is fine, but the design also doesn't make any sense to me.

In most cases I'd say don't be so OCD about matchy matchy themes but in this case I agree, simply because everything else is so incredibly sweet and cutesy and those roses are a very classic/gothic elegant accessory.
