There's appeal in wearing a mask and getting to create your own avatar that's separate from how people would normally assess you when they judge you based on your face. People are bolder and more dramatic when their faces are covered, be it with a box or with a Spiderman zentia.

And object heads are attractive kind of in a blank-slate neutral way - they lack of human features or a human-shaped head, but the object has been anthromorphised and given a human body.

most people who cosplay anything that covers their head takes regular breaks if they're not stupid.
also people aren't retarded enough to crash into people just because their peripheral vision is slightly impaired. they can still see in front of them. they're not running into anything because they're not flailing. they're walking like normal people. by that logic anyone who wears any sort of head covering looks stupid because they're obviously running into every little thing and person.

This is all pretty valid and makes for an uninteresting thread that is bumping other threads off of the front page.

I'm not even arguing you can't post it at all, I'm saying most of what you've posted looks like absolute shit. Learn to curate your collection and make a thread of monitor heads that actually look good and interesting next time. BTW:

they do have spacial awareness just as much as anyone else with any sort of head covering, so do they complain about those too?
i already said, it's hard to find monitor head cosplays so i posted what i had in the hopes that others would have better done cosplay pictures.
saying something is bland to you isn't criticism. it's just whining.

oh wah, it's bumping the same tired cringe threads, lolita threads, shit like that that are continually posted and always have the exact same pictures each time. i've never sen a monitor head thread on here which already makes it more unique than the other threads posted here.
and how to i curate a collection unless i ask others to share what they have? did you think about anythign you typed?

except that first one is talkign about threads about lolitas that just wear them to regular places, which has nothing to do with cosplay.
and yeah. lolita can be classified as just slapping shit together. sometimes it's done well. sometimes it's not, as evident by the thousands of ita threads posted every day.
but lolita is taking a fluffy dress, adding a wig and a billion accessories. that's slapping shit together. it's not a set character, it's just someone taking a bunch of cute stuff and putting it together. and sometimes it looks really cute and well done, sometimes it looks like shit. which is exactly how i feel about monitor heads. some are done well, some aren't. i don't have many pictures so i made a thread seeing if anyone had more and since no one was contributing, i posted what i had.

i've been searchign craigslist but my town generally doesn't have much in the way of good craigslist shit.
i would say go to thrift stores, make a craigslist post in the wanted section, check the free section daily, and give your local dump a shot.
the one in my town has a huge area where they sell the useful stuff people brought to throw out, and they often have broken tvs there because some people like to use the spare parts.
i need to make a trip to that dump actually, see what i can find.
i'd call your local dump ahead though, make sure they do that.
or if you think your carpentry is good enough you could try making your own. you could also try giving it a much more cartoon tv look which could be fun if done right.

Go to antique stores. Not boutique/antique stores. Legit ones. Ones that smell old when you walk in. Find a run down little mom and pop shop and you're great. If there's a small town near you that you can visit on a day-trip, do that, but research if there's any in the town before you leave. I recently went on a trip myself and found a retro looking TV for $40 that still worked.

Sorry, I meant research if the town has any antique stores in it before you go out to look for some, if it's a day-trip. If you can find any that are listed on google maps, try to find some images of them to make sure they're not "fake" antique stores (the boutique/antique types) I suggest calling them to make sure they're still open, too.

idk it's like people who lose their shit over someone using a book or pages from a book to make sculptures or carvings because wah stop destroying muh precious books.

but generally the people i've seen online doing this, who talk about how they made them, advocate trying to find already broken monitors and shit rather than breaking something that works.
but in the end it's their property.

I guess my argument is people are still making books. CRTs are not being made anymore (or in relatively small quantities) I don't care if people burn/tear books. They can always print more out. You can always read it on the ereader, it doesn't change the experience. However, there are games that specifically don't work on a flat screen tv. It causes lag and all other sorts of problems. However, you are correct, people do usually use broken monitors do this.

>> No.8231307

>>8231298
okay so then it's something you made yourself and put your own time into vs. something you still bought from someone else, talking about the commissioned ones.
making it yourself is barely different mainly because if you make it well, you can't really tell it's handmade over something you bought and then the point still stands, something very obviously handmade with a lot of time and effort put into it vs. something that is or looks storebought.
besides, kigus are still rather lazy cosplays, which isn't a bad thing but you can't defend kigus and also shit on monitor head cosplays. one is a monitor on your head, the other is some baggy pajamas.

i don't give a shit if something looks/is handmade or not. who cares, unless the wear is claiming they made it when they didn't. otherwise it doesn't and shouldn't matter if it looks good.
you're trying to place kigus somehow above monitor head cosplays in terms of quality and what's better.
>don't try to drag down people who make or commission kigus
they were refering to people saying this is stupid and whatnot while at the same time people on this board praise cosplayers who literally just bought their entire cosplay. they never mentioned kigus, you did. you brought up kigus when they said handmade things are worth less than store bought things of equal quality. all they're doing is buying their costume. all i'm doing it putting a lot of time into making my costume. how did kigus fit in at all? you brought them up. all those people are doing is making/buying baggy pajamas to wear to cons. all i'm doing is throwing a monitor on my head with a cute matching outfit. how are kigus better than monitor heads?

Regardless, painting a monitor and putting it on your head is a lot different to drafting patterns and sewing and props. Its silly to even try to put it all in the same category. Yeah, most cons are idiots running around in their walmart kigus which is dumb.

My point is, come back when people are actually designing and creating their monitors.

so the people who spent time learning how to gut a monitor, then put it back together, rig the inside so it's wearable, then do a good, sometimes complicated paint job on it is a lot different from people who cut and sew fabric.
it's two different things that both end in cool costumes.
why the complaints? why the bitching and whining about who puts more effort into their costume or who's effort counts more?
end of the day we're adults who are discussing wearing costumes in public regularly.
