Could be because she was insecure. A lot of girls get boob jobs not just for attention, but because they are insecure. She has made statements about that before as well and wanted to more exude an overanimated body. So it wasn't so much about just for attention, but Ill be damned it no cosplayer cosplays for just a little bit of attention.

Yaya was born 1980 so must be 2002

Yes. Not hard to believe considering anyone can edit wikipedia. Though not too sure at this point why she would lie about her age and by 2 yrs. People know she is in her 30s. And considering how she boosts about how long she has been in cosplay most people would guess her being that age anyways.

>tfw you're old enough to remember when those were brand new costumes of hers.

Yaya regresses her age by a year or two every once in a while. Once she hit 30 she stayed '30' for about two years then begrudgingly accepted 31 and now she's kinda generic early-mid 30s.

>> No.8221423

People wanna hate on her for the tits and other things she has done but out of many of the most popular cosplayers, I'd say she is a shoe in for having the most awards and best in shows for her costumes.

>> No.8222151

She's been into cosplay probably since before most people here were born and still couldn't manage to learn how to put on some decent make up...
What she wears looks so unfortunate and makes her look like she's stuck in the 90ies or something with that crappy eye shadow and shit

>> No.8222261

Her cosplays are really good, but I just don't like her face

I like when she does the crazier outfits... she did one from Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.

This isn't that one but it is on the same page. She pulls these off well...

Here is that one.

I actually really respect Yaya for her costumes, they are usually very impressive. I don't know what has she done in the US community to hate her, and you dont hear much of her drama in EU. I guess I will wait until I find a reason to hate her.

She was born in 1978. She was 21 in 1999. She's been lying about her age for years.

As much as I hate her I give credit where it's due, Yaya makes her shit.

After twenty years I'd assume she'd be good at it.

Say what you want about Yaya, she has talent and marketing skills. Her big costumes that aren't meant for outside of games are amazing.

>> No.8224219

So she has admitted to having breast implants? It's pretty obvious she does but if she doesn't go on lying about how they're real then it's not a big deal.

The make-up style here is giving me dem 90s feels.

Here costuming has really improved though. I was surprised when she said that she was invited to judge competitions in that article...was everyone shitty back then, or does now just look better because of Photoshop or what?

I met her in 2002 at babby's first con in the Lulu and another elaborate costume. I can't remember the series. I remember being really impressed with her work. It really stood out and looked amazing.

Most everyone was shit back then because there was a lack of resources and a developed knowledge base that we have now. We had about 8 colors of wigs in maybe four styles. Closet cosplays, halloween wigs and spraying your natural hair was commonplace. You couldn't just buy your costumes on ebay. You either made that shit or pieced things together from the thrift store. Anyone that could make an elaborate and well constructed costume was god-tier because there were so few of us around.

I could go on and on... but yeah different environment back then.

>> No.8224468

I've said this before, but I wish that when Yaya was a guest at cons, they would put some of her old costumes on display in DA/AA like they have travelling exhibits of movie/show costumes. I don't get any value from seeing Yaya at a distance at a con, but I'd love to see her stuff up close.

Could insecurity explain the "Lets cake it on with a masons trowel!" makeup as well? Hmm?

>> No.8224566

>>8224468
Impossible, as many of her older costumes couldn't survive multiple wears and still look as good upon close-up inspections.

>> No.8224586

>>8224538
Diff anon, but yeah. Also cosplay/theatrical make-up can get heavy really quick, and when you already do your normal everyday make-up thick its going to get even worse.

She must have a good skincare routine to cope with the amount of crap she covers her face in.

everyone should have a good skincare routine. You should always wash and moisturize your face regardless of if you wear makeup or not.
