use some non stretchy fabric as a backing so it won't warp so bad, and then if you're using arm socks take some of that material and sew it under the hole. Just please don't sew purple on top of the leggings it looks so awkward, I hate when Roses do that for the stomach too.

Ehh, personally, I'd say leave it be, anon.

It's not very fun cosplaying a character you don't care about, much less hate. I remember when my girlfriend cosplayed Kotetsu and asked me to be her Barnaby. I agreed, but I didn't feel very great since I don't like the character at all. Felt like a waste of time and money.

Are there any other characters that are associated with this one that he likes more? Sorry, I don't watch SU so I don't know.

All the other characters are TOO girly for him to pull off, or are fat and/or children and wouldn't go along with my Lapis.

For Peridot, do you think trying to rig up some hand thing is worth it? I can't think of a way that's going to look good and allow you to use your hands in any capacity.
Ideas?
Or would just be better to go with gloves/armsocks, since it's been shown her hand can just be normal? I know it's a neat part of her character and I'd hate to sacrifice it, but I'd really like to be able to use my hands at cons.

There's three ways I've seen it being done. I'm going for the 'Not going to be able to use hands at all' route, Pic related. I've seen two other ways done in the tumblelogs. One where there's holes in the end of the hand for fingers to poke through, and one where it's just a sleeve and the hand is just there as a hand.

If you want to make a version where you can rig it and still use your hands, the best option is probably the one where there's holes in the end of the arm that you can stick your fingers through.

While I can appreciate the effort put into this, fabric looks so off for peridot's limbs. To me, it seems like she's a homage to megaman, and her fingers are clearly robotic, so fabric looks... not good for that.
Also I really hope people who are actually buff end up cosplaying Jasper. She's too huge for small or even average looking people to pull off, I think, but I like her so much that skinnier/shorter ones probably wouldn't bother me. I'd just be happy to see them.

A lot of the fry family would probably be neat and even some characters of the day like Onion or Frybo could probably make interesting costumes.

The entire thing about this show and cosplaying is that designs like Amethyst and Steven are incredibly simple and easy to cosplay. Any large guy could dress up as Greg if he wanted.

I had to get the full torso for mine, but considering mine didn't work very well it's probably better if you do what the Opal and Sugilite in the last thread did and make separate arms out of armsocks and string them to your arms for mobility. I think they were held on by elastic bands wrapped around their torsos?

The mannequin arms will look good if you have a good enough harness for them, but if you don't they'll be heavy and end up sagging down your cosplay. I speak from experience.

As the other Opal said my pal made her arms from poster board with foam and wires foam for the fingers. Her arms attached I with a piece of elastic around the shoulder blades in a cross cross position. Then she made gloves for both sets of arms. You could attach string your real arms to your fake ones for movement. My Sugilite arms were made of copper wire and foam and elastic. Since I didn't need a elbow joint I was able to make them beefier.

I think a silvery purple wig is the best for Amethyst. Kirigiri wigs seem like the best option but definitely need 2 of them put together, especially because Kirigiri wigs have short bangs.

Here it is with the colour chooser thing, but yeah Looking at Kirigiri wigs would be best, since Amethysts hair colour is just as weird as hers.

But whatever you choose purchase two of them, usually Kirigiri wigs aren't very voluminous.

The Garnet I talked to at NYCC told me she made hers from a foam and worbla base over Hulk gloves, and the outside detailing was done with craft foam pieces (The star looked like Eva foam). The gems she did looked self-resin casted. But there's probably way easier ways to do it. Using Hulk gloves as a base is probably a good start.

I like how the legs are turning out with their texture and proportions, Hanari. Are you planning on repainting the fingers? - they look more yellow-greenish in ref photos, like her wig colour.

My main spot of bother is that the lighter blue on your torso doesn't seem to match the model (and kind of sticks out against the rest of the outfit's palette) - Peridot's torso and thighs look closer to a dark forest green, not quite as blue as you seem to have it.

Have there been any good Garnet wigs? Most of the ones I've seen are just off the rack afro wigs. I really want to see someone do a giant smooth cube of hair.

Buy practice fabric first, not expensive stuff until you know for sure what you're doing. What I can say though is this.

1. A few people from the Metrocon scene wanted to to friend her, and then after a while, she blocked them, calling them creepy when there wasn't even a shred of evidence to signify that they were even creepy to begin with.

2. Pulls the same stunts as some of the other cosfamous Florida people, such as getting betas to follow her around, feigning "panic attacks" to gain sympathy, and pulling attention to her because "she needs help".

3. When a friend of mine wanted to talk things over with her at Holiday Matsuri, she laughed at them and walked off. Seriously, if someone wants to put the past behind them and start over, you don't fucking laugh in their face and just walk away. Hear them out first.

Wish I could see this Rose's gem, I like that it looks like she actually bothered to make the dress herself. Even if I wish it were pinker near the bottom, it looks pretty good. Also seems like she went for volume above all else in the wig, which I think is an appropriate enough choice of priorities.

BN's white creme colour is my favourite white to use. If white makeup is leaving you dead-looking, were you contouring your face and lining your eyes? White makeup is difficult to wear!

Thanks! Here are some shots I took of the wig while working on it. I don't have a picture of the finished one though and I don't have the wig in my possession at the moment so I can't take one but you aren't really missing much. I used fabric glue to attach all the wefts. I'll be remaking it when I am able to get a new wig and I guess I will make a more in depth tutorial when I do that. Also, the texture of the wig there is weird not because of the fabric glue (I think) but because I had to dye a white wig with acrylic paint and fabric softener after nothing else was making it dark enough and it made the texture pretty gross and clumpy. It should normally look much nicer than that.

Still mad that the wig I originally ordered for this ended up being the completely the wrong color :T
