I'm at a loss, gulls.

I currently use the Caviar Exfoliating Scalp Facial once a week as an anon recommended and I like it. The little bristles on the bottle really help distributing the product. For shampoo I recently switched to Aveda Rosemary Mint and no matter how hard and meticulous (IMO) I scrub I get little white flakes near my scalp. That doesn't happen with the Caviar. I also get some buildup/oil the next day after using any kind of shampoo.

I wash my hair every 2 days and only use a detangler (DIY made of coconut shampoo and water) while my hair is wet and some The Body Shop oil once my hair is dry. Nothing else touches my scalp.

Without seeing how I wash my hair, what could be going on? Is the shampoo just shit?

Those are "layered" bangs. Have your stylist (or you if you trust yourself) use a straight razor when cutting your bangs. They also grow out pretty nicely when you cut them this way.

Holy shit no anon, it's not a straight razor. It's pic related, they are similar to eyebrow shaping razors(actually pretty much the same thing it's what I use) and they're definitely not the same thing as a straight razor.

Thinking about straightening one of my curly lolita wigs
The problem I have with this wig is that it's way too voluminous on top and makes my head look bulb shaped. It's almost hourglass shaped for a wig, if that makes any sense.
I'm worried straightening it will just make it worse - it's really hard to style for my long face shape. But I want a long brown wig and already have this wig I don't know what to do with so maybe it's a good idea? Like straightening it might take away the weird middle indent it has before forming curls.
Pic wig is kind of similar. I know there is a wig help thread, but it's all cosplay and this is a more lolita/jfashion related question. I know how to straighten it I just don't know if I should.

Try gentle shampoo and then dry shampoo every other day? I've heard it's possible to gradually reduce the need to wash even oilier hair but it takes time. When you do wash, try just keeping the shampoo on the scalp and a bit down, don't pile your hair up on your head to wash and then just let the bubbles run through the rest of the length. Most of the oiliness is near the scalp.

I have a bad scalp picking habit due to stress and I don't know how to stop.
It has thinned out my hair even more than it naturally is and it's especially noticeable in a patch on the top of my head.
I don't know what it is but I just have this need to take the scabs off which obviously means occasionally ripping out strands of hair at the root.
Is there anything anyone would recommend to help get some thickness back into my hair, or am I just fucked? I hate that I do this but I'm having trouble stopping. I don't know why.

I do this too, but it's due to boredom. I got chemical burns from bleach(stylist's fault) and after that I would just pick at them and they scabbed over. This was about a year ago...they're still here. I have a thick head of fine hair so you don't notice the spots, but the same thing happens. I just have a compulsion to pick scabs normally too so this is worse, I'll search through my hair to find fresh scabs and it's really creepy to me...

Doing it in a regular bob is good and if you wear sweet, use a bigger curling iron and give the front of your hair big soft curls, if you do classic or gothic take your hair and make a braid and loop it in with the accessory or across the top of your bangs.

My face shape is ugly, not to mention I have shit genetics and have a tiny bit of extra skin under my chin due to gaining so much weight this past year (stress eating is a bitch). Pulling all my hair up not only looks bad but it makes the problem worse because I still attempt to pick my scalp through the tied up hair, which ends up pulling it more. It really has become a shit habit.
On top of that my hair is so thin and fairly short so a bun has no volume and looks horrid regardless of where i make it sit on my head.

Unfortunately mental disorders can cloud your judgement on seeking help or make you think you don't deserve it, but you absolutely do! Just try to set up some counseling to talk to someone, it will make you feel a lot better! If you're a student your school probably has some free/cheap options available.

And maybe buy some cute berets and stuff like that to wear for now? Also I'm sure your face is cute, but you could leave some side pieces down when you put it up? And you can buy things meant to add volume/extra hair to buns!

I have at least 3 or 4 different ones and none of them help since my hair is so thin. Unfortunately the noticeable patch is right on the top of my head so I think the only style that'd work would be the one on the bottom left in the second scan you posted. I can't do braids well cause they always end up being small and just taking up extra hair that I could be using to better try to hide the fact that my hair is disgustingly thin. i just don't have a lot of hair to work with in general even though it's collarbone length.
The only updo that I feel looks decent on me is a teased ponytail since I don't have enough hair to do any of those cute "tie some up, leave some down" looks.

Few questions -

1) Looking for recs on shampoos/conditioners for colour treated hair that won't sap it/will help it last longer.

2) I'm using palty Sakura donut colour currently and it's a little more orange and less pink than I'd like. Anyone know any more pinky hair dyes?

3) If I were to put a small bit of pink dye into my conditioner would that help, would it be a fucking mess?

Thank you.

>hats, scarves or wigs
I look like shit in headwear because of my ugly face shape and hair that can't frame my face well on its own, nevermind putting it underneath a hat creating a weird shape (if that makes sense).
I wear wigs occasionally but I can't wear them all the time, certain things just don't allow it.

If you have actual suggestions, I'm willing to take them.

I think have the same hair style as you! I have mid back length hair and side locks to go with my bangs. Here are some styles I do:

>Headbands!
I love how they look separating my straight bangs and locks from my curliness. Sometimes I like to fluff up my hair all big like a lion, sometimes I like to use a lot of conditioner and styling cream to make my curls more defined. When being fluffy, I feel like my bangs + headband kind of anchor it down and make the frizziness look intentional and fun.

>High pony tails and tall big buns
One benefit of curls is our volume. I love to pull my hair up and then tease it a little bit (or a lot a bit). Sometimes I stick a bow, headband, or something at the base.

>Braids
I love french braids since it pulls in all the little bits and pieces of my hair. And I don't know about you, but when I braid my hair, it kind of just stays. My hair is not slick. Plus it's great for sleeping and makes your curls lots of fun when you take them down.
>Simple double french braid (my go-to)
>Starting a french braid at my right temple and going down to the left of my nape and down my shoulder
>Spiral Braid Bun
Same as above, but instead of pulling all of the hair into the braid, make a path and follow a spiral shape curling up around into your whorl. My hair still has length once I reach the middle, so I braid it to the end, and curl it around into a bun.
Pic related to give you a sense of what I mean, but I do it on myself with and my hair frizz+thickness it's fun and messy. I also leave my bangs out. I've seen some spirals start at the whorl and go out, but I find that really hard to do on myself.
Takes some time, tires out your arms a bit, and requires a lot of bobby pins, but pretty fun if you feel like it. I use it underneath wigs a lot too.
>Starting a french braid at the front with three tiny pieces of my bangs, and then pulling in strips of hair. Pull all the hair in a 1" strip connecting behind your ears to your center part.
This tucks your bangs into the french braid if you want it pulled back for a day.
>Regular braids from your temple pulled back and tied/pinned behind your head.
>Braid crowns/bands
I never do these, but they seem easy and cute.

The best thing to do is watch lots of videos, look at lots of pictures, until what is happening with the hair clicks. Next you just need to practice a lot. Until you figure out how to manipulate your fingers and hair into doing the concept that you now understand.
I find double french braids a lot easier than just one big braid. There's more of a "flat" surface to work on and the hair is traveling a shorter distance. If you haven't regular braided your hair before, do that a lot until you get the hang of what's going on with your fingers. Try doing it backwards for a few passes, ie holding your hands behind your head, separating your hair into three sections, and doing a simple braid as far as you can. You might not be able to get far, but you're practicing the whole holding three (or more) things in two hands deal.

I can't fully describe what's happening with my fingers, but in a french braid you'll need to hold the three strands between separate fingers of one hand, use your other hand to pull more hair from your head, then combine it to one of the three strands in your other hand, then use both hands to pass one strand over between the other two and pull everything tight.

It's a weird little dance happening with my fingers, and if I think about it too hard when I'm braiding I sometimes trip up.

I honestly think a fringe like this (cut fractionally shorter so less in the eyes) >>8213616 would suit you more, or if your hair is thick enough, you could just embrace the 'half face half bangs' look. You also wouldn’t need to have the bangs cut from as far back as a lot of people would need to, in order to achieve the same look. I'd avoid going for super straight and blunt though, a bit of softness would look great.

You're cute as shit btw, all my jelly etc. I also agree with the anon that recommended filling in your eyebrows more, I think it would frame your face beautifully, even if they only sometimes peaked out from beneath bangs.

Definitely talk to your hairdresser about it too, a decent one should understand face shapes and hair thickness/texture when it comes to choosing the right bangs.

I have thin hair from years of using birth control (the pill)
I went off of it a few months ago for insurance stuff and I noticed a lot of new hair growth, since I've been on it since age 13 for severe cramps and heavy bleeding this is so great to me.

However, on top of not having any real sex with my boyfriend for months, I've been getting really painful ovarian cysts. I looked into getting an IUD because it only releases hormones locally in the uterus instead of throughout your body like an implant, patch or pill would.
However my dr said it was a lot more likely an IUD would dislodge because I've never had kids or been pregnant.

Long story short my only reasonable option is to go back on the pill. I'm really terrified my hair is going to start getting really thin again. Is there really any way to cushion the blow? Vitamins? Anything?
I would really appreciate any help
My normal routine as of now is washing my hair once every 2 or 3 days (my scalp gets really oily so this is probably the max I could do)
Also does anyone know how to reduce the amount of oil that the scalp produces?

Sorry I'm asking like 50 questions, but thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to respond

My hair's pretty fragile along with being thin and pathetic, so for buns I:
>Put hair up in ponytail/ pigtails
>For maximum volume buns, I lightly crimp then very lightly backcomb the ponytail
>For everyday volume, just lightly backcomb
>Roll up into donut bun thing
>fluff, pin, hairspray

Removal is wash>condition>detangler>gently comb out.

I've got bald patches on the sides of my head that show when I pull my hair back (from seborrheic dermatitis/picking habits. you're missing the point, baking soda damages your hair because it's absorbant, that's why you can use it on stains
baking soda absorbs oils from your scalp and hair. If you continuously use baking soda your hair will get extremely dry and brittle and break off because your hair isn't getting nourishment

I'm the original caviar hair shit anon. I usually wash my hair every three days or so now because I don't really use much product. I use organix coconut milk shampoo because it's SLS free so it won't dry my scalp, if you get a tangle teezer or offbrand brush in that style you can massage the shampoo onto your scalp to pick up any flakes. I uses ion color care conditioner because I've had my hair dyed purple lately. I save the caviar stuff for when I feel I'm getting a lot of flakes that the regular care can't take care of, about once a month. My main problem is that my scalp is so dry, my hair isn't even greasy before I wash it. I've tried oiling my scalp before and it just sits on my head and doesn't sink in, this is the only routine that works for me.

I forgot to add, if you use conditioner, I've noticed it helps me a lot to put it all the way up to the scalp rather than just on the ends. If you're oilier than me I'm not sure how that would work.

As for the conditioner I've been trying a DIY Wen method where you mix 1 part shampoo to 2 parts conditioner and later it on the scalp and I think that's been helping too. I wonder why we're always told to avoid conditioner getting on the scalp.

I have thick, kinda frizzy mixed hair (the type where it's mixed straight, wavy and curled strands), and I've been thinking of getting a bob.

I feel like that 1920s/30s bob with the full back and messy curls would look really good on me, but I'm not sure what type of cut to get. I tried it a few years ago but the stylist just game me a mom bob and it looked like crap, so I'm trying to research how the bob was cut back then, does anyone have any ideas? I feel like it was a straight cut across, with little to no layering, right?

Pic related is what I want, but maybe a little longer?

A lot of the cause of normal dandruff is a fungus, so most dandruff treatments focus on that. (Head and shoulders, tea tree, etc.) Conditioner adds further moisture to the scalp and can give a better environment for that fungus to grow on people with normal to greasy scalps. It can also sometimes weigh hair down and cause your hair to be greasier faster. My flakes are caused by a dry scalp and possibly mild psoriasis so things that treat normal dandruff treatments exacerbate it by drying the scalp out. I can't seem to get enough moisture, so I just gently scrub the flakes away and try to let conditioner sink in a bit before I rinse it. I also work really hard to not scratch at flakey patches because that can cause hair loss and irritate the scalp more, I'm a compulsive picker so I'll try and scratch until it bleeds if I don't watch myself.

Also before you recoil in horror because of fungus on your scalp, anons who have non-dry dandruff, it's normal. Dandruff happens when it grows too much, like a yeast infection of the head. It doesn't make people dirty.

It's basically a part line forming from your bangs. The same thing happens to girls who wear their hair on one side/one way every day.

To help stop it, start wearing your bangs differently if you can, comb them back and pin them that way. Try not to wear your bangs the same way every day. Eventually hair might grow back but if not, you're pretty much just preventing a worsening case

Such as a hair doughnut or one of those things you would shove under a hime bump. Yes, but it will stay a dark red tone in indoor lighting (not very obvious). It'll look like dark reddish brown in normal lighting, and you only really see a lighter reddish tone in the sun.

From personal experience this takes more than one application of dye for the red to really pop, and even then it's still a darker hue compared to if you bleach. On the plus side though, as you go back to do your roots every so often, you can use the same color dye you used before and lather more than just the roots, that way after every application your hair will become a tad bit lighter and the color more obvious.

Honestly though I think you should just use normal dye and not bleach your hair because roots are really troublesome and kills your hair (I had bleached ash blonde hair for two years and the toning and bleaching upkeep for roots every month = really troublesome and expensive).

I don't want to post my face for obvious reasons, but if if it can be answered without it, would I be suitable for side bangs? I kind of wanted them like pic related.

My bangs currently go down to my lips. I have a smallish forehead about 3 fingers long, a large, wide nose and a round face. I've read that girls with big honkers aren't going to look so great with bangs.

If that doesn't help, can somebody offer some suggestions? I don't know what to do with them as they are and hate how they look. I've tried braiding, pinning up and just simply tucking behind my ear. Anon I cut my hair short about three years ago (although I was very happy with it). It takes some getting used to. My tips would be to play around with styles, as I'm sure styling it a different way would make it work; make sure your eyebrows are done (i.e. neat, filled in, good shape), for some reason I find it harder to hide my face's "flaws" with short hair, which may be the issue you're having; and, most importantly, remember that if you really hate it, you can grow it back out with great ease.

I decided to grow it back out about a year ago. My hair grows quite fast, but here's my progress in just over a year (pic related), so you can see that growing it back out is still an option that won't be awful.

I'm not hair expert, but I do think you have plenty of split ends. You have fine hair, though, so they're probably easy to hide. If it needs to be a little healthier for donation, trimming off an inch or two would probably do wonders.

I'm always looking for hair recommendations because I tend to have the same look year after year. My face is fairly round and I have ridiculous dimples, so my cheeks make me look like a baby when I laugh and my eyes get very small. That's why I prefer wearing my glasses. I always go through phases where I want drastic change, but I end up being too chicken to do it. I've been contemplating going short since I know I'll be moving to a hot location in a few months, but I don't know what is too short or even too long for my face. Do you guys have any suggestions? They're totally crooked, the left side was just chopped completely straight across and has really jagged awful looking ends and it all looks nothing like what I asked for.

I did ask to keep them a little longer though, do you think they're long enough to be able to be salvaged without having to grow them out a bit?

Excuse the slightly greasy hair, the water was out in my building today.

i've 3 products for youu:

Kerium, which helps to heal your scalp (use it if your hair falls a lot and if you have dry, itchy, dandruff-y and wounds on your scalp)

if you have greasy hair with dandruff, use Vichy's Dercos anti-dandruff shampoo for oily hair/dandruff

if you have dry hair with dry dandruff, use Dercos for dry hair/dandruff

i'm atopic and my scalp has gone into a multitude of changes since i was a teenager. i found out that Vichy's products work wonders and last a lot, since you need so little to wash your hair. eventually, i was washing my hair only once a week.

Can someone recommend me some hairtsyles appropriate for weddings (as a guest not the bride)?

I have ass long wavy hair and my hair straightener just died 2 days ago, so wearing it open will just look messy. I am not a fan of braids, because of stray hair poking out, it ends up looking like a mess only after a few hours. So I am looking for some easy hairstyles to make myself, most I found onle are not formal enough or do not work with long hair.

You can curl it, play with pinning bangs back, little braids, and going for a pin straight, sleek look. Outside of that, I'm not sure.

Ill see if I can get some examples.

Use a brush with hairspray on it to prevent stragglers at the top of your head. Section off the Top half of your head and tie this into a loose ponytail. Take the hair in this ponytail and pull it through from top to bottom just above the ponytail holder to make a pretty knot.
Curly hair isnt messy.

I do a coconut oil, whole egg and honey masque for my hair once a month. It is honestly amazing.

All this talk about baking soda wash being bad for your hair made me kinda worried. I've only been doing it for about 3 months but after a little reading I think I might stop. Too bad, it did get rid of my dandruff problem.
Has anyone tried the Rye flour wash yet?
I think I might try that soon.

Sorry for the self-post but any recommendations on what to do with my hair? I'm getting it trimmed tomorrow and was just thinking about switching my face framing layers to the other side.

Also,
>tfw self diagnosed dandruff
The signs are there (itchy scalp, flakes, etc) but no one has ever told me I have dandruff so I'm going to ask my hairstylist tomorrow. I really want to order Vichy's Dercos anti-dandruff shampoo for oily hair like >>8262952 recommended but not until I'm sure it'll help. Unless you guys can just tell by the picture that I have dandruff and an oily scalp.

I had issues with gong to a therapist when I was younger and needed it. Now I'm grateful I did and kind of want to go back to just keep my stress levels down. If your doctor judges you and makes you uncomfortable? Find a new doctor.

Also, try seeing a dermatologist. I used to pick my scalp when I was a kid, probably from a mix of boredom and anxiety, and it created a bald spot. Brought it up with my dermatologist at the next appointment after my mother pointed it out to me, and my hair grew back as thick as ever after a month.

Layered cuts with texturizing creams and hair wax. Rub the strands in little twists when you style to make it look piece-ier. My stylist does this with my hair and I always walk out looking like I'm ready to audition for a zuka boy band.

I mean, it's still chemical dye, but use 40 volume developer and salon dye and let it develop in your hair at least 40 minutes, depending on how long your hair is. I had waist length hair when I first tried that kind of color for a split dye job in a salon, and it took 70 minutes to color properly, if I recall. I have a boy cut now and do it at home. I use Goldwell or Matrix SoColor red violets. Rinse with cool water and condition the crap out of it. Try to not wash your hair for at least two and a half days after dying.

Another tip: you're going to still want to get a bottle of temp dye to maintain the vibrancy of the violet tones. Your hair will get brassy as time goes, partially because of sun exposure. Alternatively, you could use a tinted shampoo or conditioner, but doing a full re-dye will get it really vibrant. I just dyed mine again to that color at the start of the month, and it's pretty auburn now.

Start wearing a hat or headscarf, something that will prevent you from touching the roots of your hair. Talk to your therapist, and develop a new stress habit. Things like rubbing a domino, ripping apart silly putty, or finding a hobby that you can channel your nervous energy into will help. I had a friend at college that ripped out her hair when stressed and then would cry about her bald spots. Stop doing that to yourself, there's other ways to release your anxiety.

Thank you! Currently I alternate between Caviar Exfoliating Scalp Facial and OGX shampoo with keratin twice a week until I can figure out a good shampoo. Healthy Sexy Hair conditioner, Galvin & Galvin Cool Cucumber detangler, and Coolway Glow Oil Treatment after my hair dries.

I've only recently started blow drying my hair (as seen in my pic) and I haven't really used a heat tool in about two years.

After I stopped using heat tools my hair looked much healthier but of course got more "poofy." I got the detangler from Target on clearance but I'm sure it's available elsewhere too. It also smells like cucumbers! The oil works best when your hair is completely dry and you only need a tiny bit. I also take biotin daily for dat hair growth.

You'll need a perm if your hair isn't wavy to achieve this look. I've had a similar haircut for a long time, so I know from personal experience.

If you have naturally curly hair you'll get a slightly different look but if cut with the right layers, should be able to style it in a similar fashion.

Once you have your hair permed all you need is a little bit of wax and you style it into your hair like so in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4U1RbK9b6Y

It's a slightly different cut than in the tutorial, you just need to make sure you style the side parts inwards towards your face instead of outwards for a girlier look. Hope this helps!

>>8268208 My hair is ever so slightly wavy when it was long, and it's just thick as fuck and fluffy (asian hair) , but probably not curly enough to get that look. I'm a pretty poor student and I don't think I can afford a perm, but I'll try out the stuff in your video, thanks for the help!

I've just started no-poo too (three months in) my hair seems to thank me for it cause it's nowhere near as dry or dandruffy as it used to be. Did you stretch your washes before hand? if your hair still expects to be washed daily then you'll probably end up with a shit ton of oil for a while 'til it adjusts.
