someone in an older thread was asking about plus sized keyhole sweaters. I bought this one:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Japanese-Fashion-Women-Sexy-Anime-Keyhole-Sweater-Turtleneck-5-Color/32272649790.html

pic related is me wearing it (apologies for the dirty-ass mirror and room)

It's really great. I was a bit skeptical that it would fit even though the description says it stretches up to 120cm. I have a 114cm bust and 40G cup bra and it fits super comfortably. I can move around in it and stretch it out a few more inches quite easily.

The biggest issue I had with it was finding a bra that wouldn't be visible though the keyhole but I was eventually able to find one. I'd suggest a low cut balconette. Another small issue is the center gore of your bra can be visible from above looking down so if you're really short like me (5'2") you should be careful.

The length is actually quite nice, I suggest wearing it with something high waisted since the bottom hem goes just about to my navel. It can be pulled down a bit but would need adjusting to avoid the bra peeking through.

Overall, it serves is purpose and fits super wall and I recommend it to anyone looking to get a keyhole sweater.

Honestly, I'm not sure. Probably just a few cotton jumperskirts that I can pair with cardigans and wear to the casual meetups throughout the summer, but that can double as normalfag clothing when I need it to. It will give me a chance to use all the cotton prints I've just been thinking about selling because they're too tacky for lolita.

Maybe dolly kei or some of the angura or visual styles will not be as skinny concous (though the latter two are more closely associated with music). I'm 5 feet tall and I recently ballooned up to 155 pounds thanks to birth control, am I considered plus size now?
I wear a size 6/medium sometimes a large if I want something oversized, I fit into unshirred btssb/ap but I busted the seams on my old etc unshirred pieces. I feel like I'm plus sized for jfash, I felt fat at 130 pounds but this is a whole new level.

You don't need to diet regularly. That sounds like jojoing between bad eating habits.

>Also any advice on losing birth control weight?
Switch birth controls now or forever hold your peace.
Some birth control makes people eat more, stress more = more weight gain. Your best bet is finding a birth control that doesn't do this to you (I suggest looking at bcs that explicitly state no weight gain side effects, like a copper IUD, for example).

For one thing, don't diet, just moderate your eating. Your metabolism will yo-yo if you do that. Keep exercising like you do. Keep an eye on your weight for another month and see if it helps. If not, consider a different form of BC like other anons have said.

On asking if you're plus size, that a really hard question to answer. Since I only know your height and weight but have no idea where you distribute your weight (which does matter in this discussion, someone who stores fat in their tummy will look different than someone who stores it in their hips no matter the weight).

Lolita is really good for this. You want to emphasize a tiny waist to wider hip ratio, which is easy because of the petticoats.

It's a shame brands don't tend to make plus size skirt measurements like they do with their jsks, because I find skirts very flattering on plus size figures. It's better than bulky and ill-fitted OPS and jsks paired with frumpy frilly blouses. Less is definitely more.

>> No.8200383

I don't see how her statement about her tummy suggests she has a tiny hip to waist ratio. Someone who is an apple shape probably doesn't have much waist to show off.

>>8200383
Yeah, no waist to speak of.

One trick I've used before is to wear a skirt that's tight on the hips/backside, then flairs out right where my thighs start, with a wide top of some sort. The skirt that is tight around the low waist gives the illusion that I'm much thinner than I actually am. The wide shirt would then hide my belly.

Used to, because I only had one skirt in this style and I've yet to find another one.

I wasn't trying to make a statement implying she possesses a hip to waist ratio of any sort, only that lolita is good for emphasizing a tiny waist via wide looking hips in contrast to the waist and bodice (re: petticoats), hence it being flattering. Regarding shipping, I'm just extremely cheap when it comes to ordering things (like only using Amazon prime free shipping or free shipping on eBay) so I just need to adjust my mentality.

Also, what are peoples' feelings itt about wearing shorts? I've always felt uncomfortable wearing them because they ride up near my crotch and I have cellulite on my upper thighs. I prefer wearing skirts with tights if I can. This black fabric pair I bought has a ruffle at the bottom and I feel like it would distract people away from the cellulite.

I have some shorts that go to just above my knee I wear if its very hot, I know thats not very fashionable but its better to sweat in tights or pants when its hot

For all you ladies worrying about shorts and thigh chafing...
Wearing tights with shorts is immensely helpful. Wearing longerish shorts helps, too, to keep the crotch area from riding up.
And magical solution to chub rub:
1 lb box of cornstarch
4-8oz of kaolin clay powder
powdered lavender for scent (optional)
1 stick of cocoa butter
Mix up the powders and keep them in a container along with a powder brush nearby.
Put a very thin layer of cocoa butter on your skin where you want to powder, then powder over it generously. The corn starch keeps things silky and the clay powder absorbs moisture. This generally lasts me all day in medium weather, I may reapply once or twice in sweaty weather. My skin stays nice and smooth and clean and I don't use the lavender, but for me everything stays completely scent-free.

I've been dieting for a while now and have dropped a bit of weight but my body doesn't particularity look different yet. I used to be what I believed is plus sized but now, according to my bmi, I am a healthy weight and I don't know whether I would still count.

>>8213437
It's all about the measurements and your body proportions, Anon. Take full bust, natural waist and fullest hip measurement and start comparing. You should be 2-3cm smaller than the listed max measurement of something to fit decently into it. It also has to fit past bust or hips if it doesn't zip, example DDC by AP just pulls on. Full shirring is one option but many do not find it flattering. Read reviews and suggestions on the few lolita plus blogs, a few have lists of things that fit, one on Tumblr does but I can't remember the name, sorry.

Measurements? I think I'm plus sized even in North American sizes, but because I'm super pear shaped and my ass and thighs are huge. Lolita makes me feel amazing because it generally fits well since my torso area is way smaller and the bottom half doesn't really matter except for tights I guess.

If your looking for some suggestions I can give you some based on some of the dresses I've owned/own, but keep in mind it will be all sweet stuff.

So I wish we could have a thread on here to talk about weight loss and encourage each other to get healthy and fit for our cosplays and pretty clothes. I just want to share my little triumphs with my fellow chubby seagulls because you people are my biggest encouragement. Eh, I know I'll just get told to take it to /fit/ so it's not worth the trouble. I suppose you're right that it isn't so healthy. I guess I just look at all these clothes that I've spent a lot of time and money making and purchasing and I feel so ashamed for not putting those resources towards my health instead. I know I should just love and appreciate myself as I am because I'm not going to suddenly love myself overnight when I "get skinny" and I shouldn't put my happiness on hold like that, but it's a really tough emotion to wrangle into submission.

>> No.8223116

>>8223100
Treat yourself kindly even if you are working to change yourself and learn self love, because you'll end up at your goal and find something else to dislike. And spending money on things that make you happy is good for your mental health! Obviously you need balance, but don't punish yourself because you're not perfect. It takes time to unlearn those negative thoughts, but it's worth it. Also you'll find yourself having more paitence with the slow process that getting fit entails, and able to notice and take joy in small accomplishments!
When you constantly hate your body small changes are unnoticed or not enough. Improve yourself inside while you're working on the inside and be healthier all around.

Birth control and medication weight is harder to drop then weight from simply eating more.

I would recommend a food journal only because some forms of birth control do stimulate appetite. The shot form of BC is notorious for this; it creates cravings.

I'm 5'2" and ballooned from 110 to 155 pounds. I chose to stop the medication that caused it; it was affecting my metabolism.

After stopping the medication, the doctor said I had to go on a restricted calorie diet. In 6 months I dropped back down to 110; I started eating normally again and never gained back the weight.

Switch birth control or talk to your doctor about a restricted calorie diet that is safe for you.

Have any of you girls seriously actually ever TRIED losing the weight? I mean actually hitting the gym, getting a personal trainer, hell going to /fit/.

I hear this excuse a lot and it always translates too, "I went to the gym for like an hour once, but then didn't go back for like 2 weeks."

I'm sorry, but speaking as a girl, it's really not that hard to lose weight. Guys pack on and take off way more than the average girl does when they are bulking and cutting, and yes, y'know what, I get bodies are different, but they're really not that different.

I see a lot of girls post complaining, and I'm always like to myself, "You know, 5 months of good effort and she'd pretty much drop all of that."

Seriously, you girls should check out /fit/; they are surprisingly helpful.

The only way I've ever been able to be skinny was in middle school when I was on so much Adderall I had no appetite so I was essentially anorexic. Then after I got off, I slowly gained weight and was eventually around 185lbs at 5'2". I tried working out twice a week for a half a year year and nothing happened. So I tried dieting but the only thing that worked was alternate day fasting which made me absolutely miserable even though I was 40lbs lighter. Once I got off that and started eating normally, I gained back all the weight and more and now I'm stable at 225.

The way I see it is, being skinny won't make me happy and happiness is what I strive for in life. I like being lazy and eating yummy food. I'd rather be fat and able to do anything I want, than be skinny and unable to do the things I enjoy. Other people may not like how I look but I don't mind it and my boyfriend loves it.

But really, it's not anyone else's business. I don't tell skinny girls they need to eat more and I don't tell fat girls the need to eat less because I'm not a huge asshole.

I was much happier then, but then there was a lot of shit that went on and I gained a lot of weight for a lot of stupid reasons.

I'm guessing you've maybe never had to lose a large amount of weight so while this seems obvious to me, I'll say it anyways. Weight takes time to lose, often more time than it took to gain it, which for some people is lifetime. I'm working on breaking 21 years of bad eating habits and little to no exercise routine. We can't just hop on the treadmill, run for an hour, eat some salads for a week and magically drop fifteen pounds. >>8227394 We have checked out fit, but you can't lose 100lbs in 5 months, and if you do that's just not healthy. This takes years. And if you read anything about the previous posts in this thread, you'd see that it's a fairly unhealthy thing to hold all of your happiness back until you're skinny. When you learn to love yourself as you are, it actually makes it easier to get up and go to the gym, to do better things for your body. If we want to look cute on this journey than gosh, we'll be cuter and cuter every day!

Lower your intake of carbs. I find dropping out refined sugars (sweets, breads, pastas, potatoes) helps a lot. I do have sweets on occasion though but I've been saving them for special occasions. I had good luck with dropping my carb intake to under 100 grams a day. I get a little weak if I don't have any, but I found sweet potatoes tend to be a good substitute. I also react well to strength training and rely on that rather than doing a lot of cardio outside warm-up excerises. I found BC just makes me want to mindlessly shove food down my pile hole and I get the munchies a lot. Healthier snacks does help with this. Also keep tabs on your calories and also pay attention to nutrition. Eating a lot of proteins will help you feel fuller longer as well as drinking a ton of water. That usually curbs my desire to eat junk between meals. I've been on bc for 5 years now and manged to drop 50lbs. Not to say that I haven't gone through periods where my weight does go up. Though it tends to do so based entirely upon physical activity and the amount I'm actually moving around and lifting things.

Though if you fit into unshirred btssb/ap, or even comfortably into partial shirred, I don't think you would really be considered plus when it comes to lolita. Usually it's about 98cm in the bust and over 78-80cm in the waist, as that's the general point when you need to be a lot more picky about cuts and things of that nature. Anyway that's roughly about a L-2L, (US M-L or about an 8-10). That's not to say that you would probably look the same as say, someone who is taller who weighs more.

Oh of course, I'd never do an order under like $80! I'm planning to get some custom stuff from the store Miss Point soon, so I'm looking for other things to fill out the order and make it worth the fees.
Also I'd love to see any cute aliexpress finds!

I don't understand. I've been on BC since I was 13, basically because the hormones helped to regulate my cistic acne, and I had complications with my periods so a specialist prescribed it for me.

All we (me and my mum) had to do was ask for weight neutral pills, and after I tried a few I found one that works for me and I've been taking it ever since (I'm 24 now).

Is this a lack of education thing or is it that it's apparently an uncomfortable talking point even with doctors that people don't find out the options available to them?

I am plus sized and own marine bear and wouldn't recommend it (well the OP version anyway). There is no bust room to speak of -IW standard- and the sleeve cuffs are uncomfortably tiny. Additionally there is no zippers so you have to pull it over your shoulders and if you are larger or nearing the max measurements this might be hard!

Just out of curiosity, do plus-sized people in japan get bullied as hardcorely as they do in the west?

Pills are different than depo shots in terms of weight gain statistics. Not to mention worse medical risks if started early and done over a long period of time.

Parents who put teens on depo must be morons.

Ah! I was looking for a thread like this. I'm 5'3" and currently 190lbs. I've been losing a lot of weight and have been feeling a lot better about myself, so now I want to cosplay with my friends.

However does anybody have any tips for plus-sized cosplaying? None of the characters I want to cosplay are plus-sized, and I don't want it to look awful.

Pic related is one of the ones I plan on doing.

Shapewear is your friend, don't go for crossplay unless it's a chubby guy, MAKE SURE YOUR COSTUME FITS.

Alright, thank you!
I did have one character I was going to crossplay, but I wasn't too terribly attached to him, so I'm certain I can do another character from that series.
