Best petticoats, fluffiest, best for casual... what's your favorite petticoat?

Also, I need a bit of help- I just got the petticoat in the pic, but when I put it under CDC it looks more A line than cupcake. I want the shape to be similar to how RinRin wore her CDC. The petticoat is 50cm and perfect lengthwise. What do?

which petticoats do you guys use for casual wear? my old one deflated after two months, i'd love to have one that lasts longer.

I have a Victorian Dress Girl petti and for the $25 I paid it's awesome. It's a line but is full enough that it looks decent under both a line and bell skirts. The only problem is the elastic on the inside recently curled, and it's a bit tight even on me and I'm tiny. I also think it might be slightly longer than other Lolita petticoats but I'm not sure because VDG is the only petticoat I've ever had.

I'm looking to get a new petticoat soon because as much as I like my VDG petti, I got a colored one (I thought I was going to be an OTT sweet when I first started) and would now prefer to get a white one. I'm also having troubles with the elastic, I tried to loosen it a bit and ever since then I've had trouble with it. So I'm trying to learn about my different options.

Is there a good petti that can work with both bell and a line dresses? All my dresses are bell shaped, but I have a few that are an older style that can't hold that much poof so they look better with an a line. I don't have room in my wardrobe for both kinds so, yeah!

Price for value, what do you think is the best petti out there?

Do you think it's ever worth it to get one of those cute decorative petticoats? Like the colored ones, or ones with bows or laces? I'm currently not in the market for one, but I think they are adorable!

I'd like to know what a good daily petti is to use. I think for most occasions, as much as I love the poof, a smaller one might be better for everyday use, and I should save the big poof for parties and special occasions.

Clasical Puppets, for example, has their big bell petti and a daily bell petti, do you think it's worth it to get both kind? Or is the difference minimal enough that it's better to just get one kind?

>> No.8196427

Hey guys! I don't know a thing about petti-coats. I'm hoping you could point me in the right direction, or offer some advice. I have a tiny bit of experience with cheap crappy pettis.

I'm going to be putting together a Rainbow Brite costume soon. When I made the sketch of what I wanted, I didn't realize it at the time, but it has a lolita-ish aesthetic to it.

I'm hoping to find a rainbow colored petti to put under my skirt. I've not seen any I'm keen on yet.

Should I try to make my own? Is that hard? Open to any suggestions at this point. Thanks!

Price for value, stick to taobao brands. Brand petticoats aren't that good, and bodyline is well known for having bad petticoats.
There are really no petticoats that work for both style of dresses. You can mess around with the waist band, but honestly, it's better to just get the separate petticoats. It'll save you in the long run.
The cute decorative petticoats are usually used in fairy kei or decora. If they are in subdued colors, it's easy to slip them on over tights or leggins. If they are pastel and bright, you might want to pair them under another skirt or dress so that they peak out and add a cute finish to an outfit.
For daily petticoats, I think Classical puppets has a nice one. The difference between a daily and a full petticoat is huge, so if you have the money, buy both types. If you like the decorative petticoats though, you can just buy two decorative ones from bodyline, milklim, etc. for the aesthetic and then pile them under your dress, though it may be uncomfortable to wear because of the layering of bands on your waist.

Thanks anon, I've been considering the Bunny House petticoats, that looks really great

>> No.8197189

VGD is shorter than most petticoats, I believe - mine was 17" long and typically most pettis are 18-20". What did you do to loosen the elastic? I undid the buttonhole elastic and took it out, and although the elastic in the waistband does curl over itself it should be pretty easy to keep it flat.

There is no one petticoat that works well for both A-line and bell unless you want to go to the hassle of pinning the top layer up/rolling the waistband every time you wear it.

Price vs what you get - it's hard to say which is the 'best' and experiences vary.
I personally like melikestea, but the only true bell-shape pettis she has in my opinion are the PT-09, PT-10 and PT-12. I love my Bunny House petticoat but was unimpressed by classical puppets because every petti I've bought from them came apart at the seams at some point, plus I like huge amounts of poof so feel for the price I can better spend my money either on a huge square dancing petticoat or another brand.

Cute decorative petti - well, for some people it's worth it (seems like if you wear fairy kei then it's practically a wardrobe staple), for me I hardly ever have anyone seeing it so it's not.

In terms of what you should get, I think a small bell-shape petti is a good idea. Your older style dresses won't be better with A-line if the A-line petti is too poofy, you should be looking for a smaller petticoat overall. Since you already have the VGD which is A-line, use your new petti by itself for the old school dresses and layer it on top of the VGD for your bell shaped ones. I guess the obvious options for smaller bell shaped pettis are classical puppets (although I can't speak for the bell shape, their daily A line petticoats are significantly less poofy than the big ones) or melikestea. Basiclove does a medium-poof bell petti as well, but I think is slightly more expensive.

I took the elastic out and was going to completely change it out for a longer piece, but I ran out of elastic so I just added a small piece onto what was already there. It's way more comfortable on my waist now and can't be seen from under my longer dresses, but for the shorter ones it always slips a little and shows. I don't know what the deal with that elastic is but it just refuses to pay flat at all for me.

Just measured my VDG petti and it is indeed 17" long. It seems like its so long it almost peaks out fro under some of my dresses, which makes me worry not that if I get a better petti it's going to stick out. It doesn't help that I have trouble with pettis and stuff on my waist, it's really uncomfortable for me so the looser or closer to my hips, the better.

I love petticoats but they are trouble at times.

I tried to roll the waistband once and had a bit of trouble with it, but I planned on trying it again the next time I dress up. I'm just now making a goal to dress up more often this year, before hand I only wore Lolita once or twice a year to parties, so I'm very unprepared for daily and casual wear right now.

How much space do people normally think is good to have between the end of the petti and the skirt? I had always been told it should be one or two inches above but it seems to me if I don't have it at least four inches above my petti shows quite easily, which I guess I'd mind a little less if it was white and I had deco bloomers to show off.
