Well, there are a lot of varying shooting locations where I live, so I guess I got lucky. Perhaps keep your eyes open for possible shooting locations whenever you walk through town? Or simply go scouting for some. Like.. at the edge of the city or in the next city over or something like that.

If you go rural areas (like Idaho) there are a ton of abandoned houses nestled in the hills. My stepmother goes there and shoots a lot, if there's a house nearby you ask them. She's only been chased out by the cops once and that was at a cement factory being torn down. There are also a lot of good sites for mountain/nature shots. I've always wanted to do an onsen shoot at the hot springs. If you want large buildings or live in cities, research "urban spelunking"
