I'm a little nervous self-posting for any reason other than to receive concrit, but I'm pretty happy with this outfit...I know it needs improvement and I'm working on the biggest (pun intended) part of that, but still... sorry for how...conceited...my face looks, too.

I'd really appreciate any kind of drawing, sorry for the messed up hair, it was very windy that day.
It's a really boring casual coord I wore to go to an art museum.
I'll probably wear this dress completely different the next time.

I would really love a drawing if anybody fancied drawing me, I have never been drawn before!
This was the first time I wore Lolita out in public and the first meet I ever attended last year. It was so great to properly get into the fashion after following it on and off for a number of years.

In regards to >>8162136 I had a bit of a conundrum when choosing the fabric. I had either this slightly more stiff chiffon that's nearing organza or a more flowy chiffon, which is what I used first. The flowy chiffon hung very limply and I preferred the body of the first chiffon. However, I have a lot of the cross fabric left and was thinking of making a skirt, so I'll try the flowier chiffon overlay for that and see how it works. As for the hem ruffle, what would you suggest I add? There's already two foldover ruffles, that combined with dress makes for a five-layer hem, which is already a lot.

Oh for the hem ruffle, I meant not enough as in it needs more fabric to gather. It looks like you skimped on the material. Also how did you finish the ruffle? Did you double the fabric and fold it over? It looks like the ruffle is too stiff to lay properly. Maybe you can test a piece of the fabric with a small finishing seam and double the length to see what amount looks best gathered before you have to redo the entire hem.

Right arm is off at shoulder, but mostly elbow. Nose is awkward, I would tug the change in line direction down a bit. Eyes are a tad too far apart. You need to look up refs of people wearing glasses, they're not glued to your face.

Otherwise it's fine, I think.

That's kind of the point of drawthreads. A lot of boards have them and usually there isn't an issue. They're kind of a newer thing for /cgl/, though, so maybe the culture of drawthreads hasn't quite sunken in yet.

It helps to have sort of a copypasta of rules/expectations for each drawthread, that way they can continue to be a regular sort of thing and people know how to not shit up the thread. I think we used to have a copypasta for it-- definitely remember seeing one in past threads.

In general, it's a good rule to only post fairly polished coords. As a draw anon, I personally really dislike when people post half assed or bad coords requesting drawings, because why should I put effort into a drawing when you couldn't be arsed to put effort into your coord?

Also, don't self-post on /cgl/ in general if you're not open to criticism. If you have a questionable coord and are asking for advice, that's one thing, but if you have a low-tier coord and are going to be a shit about receiving "unwanted" or "uncalled for" criticism, then just don't post.

I've had a lot of fun with these threads, but I feel like as more time goes by they just turn into loads of obviously non-seagulls posting for free drawings and attention, to which the comparatively high level of emoticon usage and hurt fee fees attests.

I'm actually glad you didn't take my initial comment in the wrong way, because I think you could dress really cute if you polish your ideas a bit more. To be honest, it looks like you got too excited and threw two different outfits together and it clashes and makes you look a bit frumpy.

I think your sweater long enough to throw some cute lacy or crochet shorts underneath to peak out and maybe play up the layering on top of the sweater with a cute jacket or big vest.

This will be a little blunt, but I don't intend to sound particularly mean:

The best way to get decent at drawing hands is by just trying to draw them and not lazily hiding one or both of them. Go look up how the shapes of the hand work and do some studies and it will become easier. There are many stock photo references you can use to draw from "life" and a plethora informative images (pixiv, tumblr and dA have some surprisingly good stuff) to help you understand if you take them with a grain of salt, as many are drawn by other amateurs. Pic related is something I'd pulled from an general artist reference tumblr some time ago.

The right hand is holding her hat on so it doesn't fall off/blow away while speeding around the ocean on the back of a whale, but I get what you mean hiding hands is a bad habit, I admit, Im pretty damn lazy and do it all the time. I shouldn't have hid/lazy-draw the other hand as well.

I'll definitely work harder on drawing hands, I know its my achilles heel (and it doesn't help that its really late at night now and Im tired). I'll try draw more tomorrow though. Thanks for the advice.

add on to wat anon said, the best thing for a beginner in drawing is to understand expressing 3d forms on a 2d paper.

What I mean by this is that you gotta understand how to make something that is technically flat, but visually 'round'. This is why people say 'hands are hard' it is because they don't visually understand what 3d elements make it up, (a box palm + 5 rectangular prism fingers) a face/head is easy, as long as you can translate that its just a simple sphere with two eyes mouth and nose you are fine.

AKA art is simply a translation of real life, keep this in mind as you do your hand studies.
Whether you wanna go google translate and have hyperstylized cartoon hands or actually studying the language of bones + muscular anatomy for more naturalistic hands its up to you.

tbh I found that understanding the theory behind this crazy bullshit helped me more than mindlessly drawing shit I don't understand.

I'm good at the reverse of that, translating 2d into 3d models. I'm a programmer so I do those sorta things, I wish to improve my drawing though. Traditional mediums are difficult for me but digital is a breeze.
