What does country lolita consist of? What do you think divides it from other substyles? I don't see it posted a lot so it'll be interesting to see what people think.

You do not see it much because it's one of the least popular styles and few like it much. There are several tumblrs dedicated to it though. Straw hats and bags, ankle sock, braids and gingham, floral prints, sometimes aprons or boots. It's not so interesting, really.

I think it's a little too simple for most people since OTT is super right popular now. And it's so close to sweet and classic that a lot of people throw it by the wayside, but I really like country.
I agree with what >>8157289 said, except the "not very interesting" part.
I kind of feel like if there isn't a straw hat/boater then people just call it sweet.

I love country Lolita. I feel like it's more about a "feeling" than it is the look itself personally. I always thought of it as the mori girl of Lolita, if that makes sense. I wish it was more popular, but I guess I'm just nostalgic for the days when I first got into Lolita. I don't like how OOT Lolita is now and miss the older sweet look. I rarely see a country coord and when I do it's usually just average sweet with a straw hat, I think the trick to the country look is to give your outfit a prairie vibe and use more natural themes and colors and stuff.

I think some kind of boots would be cute, even slightly clunky boots might be fitting depending on the coord. Since my idea of country lolita is casual and natural, I'd say to try a simple, comfortable shoe. Maybe basic mary janes with a low heel, or maybe something a little bit quirky, like a wedge sandal? There were some wedge sandals with a wicker basket look to them that were popular several years ago, I though that would be cute with a pair of lacy ankle socks in a summer country coord.

They are the closest I have to boots. I hate wedge sandals. My mary janes are all black, clunky and ugly.

Here's an outfit I would consider an example country Lolita that doesn't make use of the straw hat, though people might argue it's not Lolita (I argue it could be both Lolita or natural kei and the dress is meta I believe). The floral print, earthy colors, apron and shoes, and the casual hair are what gives it a country vibe to me.

This is a country coord that I think could easily still be country without the straw hat. Some braids or a bonnet would still keep the feeling I think. I'd maybe change the socks to something shorter and with lace tops.

Nah I don't think you're being annoying, I mean the original thread poster might, but I like talking about clothes to almost everyday so I don't mind trying to help. The outfits in your pic are cute even though they aren't my style. Not sure who Miss Marple is but after looking the name up on Google she appears to be fab.

A prairie skirt is probably the sort of thing you want to go for then and maybe pair it with a looser blouse that has some kind of older feeling to it, like a lace collar maybe? Or a longer flowy sun dress with a lightweight cardigan or vest or something on top would maybe be cute.

By nature-y stuff do you mean like that boho look or do you mean something more like mori girl? Mori girl is out there compared to what I think you are looking for but you might find some good ideas. I like to wear mori and the cool thing about it is that it can go from SUPER casual to super outlandish really easily.

I don't actually know who the bottom center girl is, it's a coord I've had saved in my mori folder since forever. No idea what the top middle and left girls are from, found the pic while searching on google but they seem to be shop pics.

It took me a long time to figure out what "prairie" skirts were called. I think they're not so popular since they're so old fashioned looking.

Glad I could help, hopefully you have a better idea of what to look for now. If you're trying to find a prairie skirt try looking at thrift and vintage stores of there's any in your area, or department stores right now might have a few in. I got one at Kohls a few years ago and the other two I own I found in consignment stores.

You should keep an eye out on Akane&Alois releases. They do a lot of country lolita.

Personally, I tend to think of country lolita as lolita with prints you can easily find in something like "Little House on the Prairie." Lots of calico, gingham, and other prints you might see in an old time shop.
