Has anyone here ever used glitter spray for fabric? I need glittery fabric for a cosplay and all glittery fabric I can find is cheap Halloween shit. I was hoping I could just spray the skirt and bodice panel when they're finished (needs pleating, so I wouldn't spray it before ironing all the pleats in).

If so, does anyone have any recs? I already assume the aerosol ones would give a much better finish than the pump-spray bottles they sell at Michael's. I don't mind if it makes the fabric super stiff, that would be a positive effect.

eddie is going to be a zentai with latex body suit. plan on having his chest and eyes with LED's. /fit/ enough to fill it out. Heads from scratch. Might upload it in a progress thread one of these days. But I did the whole "ah, this two parter has one easy side and one hard side....lets ignore the easy side till the last minute!". The latex came in, and its now just the long process of coat after coat after coat (useing the predetor muscle suit as inspiration/direction). I got a nice new air brush set for xmas and have been waiting to use it.

For Zato's blind fold I am making a one way mesh in the 'belt' on his eyes to see through. The pants and boots are all set, and his arms, they actually have some cheap arm compression gear at a place nearby i can alter.

Have any of you guys made wings with ostrich feathers before?

They're the only ones I have available here in the color and number that I need, but I kinda feel like they might make the wings look too fluffy. I'm sure they'll be fine for the coverts, but I feel like they might look weird as flight feathers.

Pic related, left ones are for coverts, right ones would be the flight feathers. I know the colors look different, but since they're from the same company they should be the same.

Well, outside of machining the studs yourself out of some cheap nuts/bolts, you could try duplicating them in the size you need with other materials. It just depends on the degree of accuracy you're going for. Some people are bigger sticklers for accuracy than others, going so far as to count stitches (as in replicas of movie costumes). I mean, if you can't really justify the expense, you could always go with the cheaper studs, and then do another piece with the larger studs later on. Idk how permanent they are, or how they're applied, so I don't know if you can take them off and replace them or not, but that's what I'd do.

So I want to make a leather mask for a cosplay. The problem is that in the anime, the mask does not behave how leather would in the real world (much like hair).

So I want to make the mask out of something hard (like clay) and still get it to look like leather (liquitex? I don't know).

Does anyone have any ideas for alternatives?

You could use clay, but it's heavy, fragile, and hard to mount. Craft foam would work just as well. I made a 'leather pauldron' from craft foam for my Armored Vault 13 Suit. If you just barely singe it with a heat-gun, you can mold it or make it more rigid, and it gets the appearance of hardened leather.

How serious are you about the cosplay and accuracy?

A few things
- His coat is extremely tailored. Most regular coats and coat patterns will be relaxed fit and make you look fat, if not roomy.
- Proper fabric color and weight. It's a heavier coat and a subdued burgundy.
- The mini stud details on lapels and pocket cuffs
- Minor make-up. Yes, he is supposed to be scruffy, but that doesn't mean you go out with an unwashed/unshaven face.
- Proper shoes.

Do you mean expanding foam? Because you could make expanding foam work. Basically the way it works is you spray out the foam and it puffs out like solid shaving cream. She was spraying water on it. I don't believe you sand it (I haven't had an opportunity to try expanding foam yet), but I do think you have to seal it. Some of the comments were talking about a later tutorial where Kamui uses paper mache on top, looks like, so you could look through her videos. If she does use paper mache to finish it, then you would need to sand it. Another common choice as a general sealant is gesso, but I don't know if that's good with expanding foam. Are we talking of the same paper´? because I would never used it to trace a pattern into fabric because it would stain the surface.

The greater the density of the foam (if used), the better will be the surface to trace it :)
if you are going to used wood, try not to use that kind that comes with varnish on the surface, the ink wont stick on it

While making my prop out of insulation foam, I taped the pattern onto the foam then traced with a ballpoint. When I lift the paper off, there are indentations from the pen. I then go over these indentations with a thin marker. There are probably faster, more accurate ways to do this but my method worked well enough for my needs. I hope it made sense!

Hey guys. I was wondering what type of fabric I should use for the black(/maybe navy blue?) parts of this costume. I'm worried about what would work best as the top, shorts, hat, gloves, and bootcovers, since I'd like to have some continuity with the fabric. It also looks kind of sleek but I don't want it to look too adult so I'd happily use a more toned down fabric as long as it looks clean in the end.

Also, if anyone can help me out with either a pattern or a term I can search for as far as the top goes, that would be really helpful!

Unlike human hair, wigs can't always be turned in a different direction. Oftentimes, the wefts will only go one way, and if they are spaced out a lot, as most long haired wigs are, then pulling it up will just reveal the spaces between the wefts and it will look awful. If you are set on using this wig, then save all that you cut off, and add in some new wefts yourself to fill in the gaps. it may not be enough though, which is why many will buy a second wig just to use as filler.

Why don't you try hypo-allergenic makeup? Or does that still give you problems?

Homemade animegao masks always look really bad to be honest. If you want to wear a mask like that, you might just want to invest in one. And if you don't want to do that either than honestly I think you will be fine if most of your face is covered up with a black mask like that anyways, unless you plan on getting photos done with like, hi-res closeup shots of your face. If you're just planning on wearing it to a con and letting random people walk up and take your pic as per usual I think you'll be fine going makeup-less. Sorry but I can't tell, is the person you're cosplaying a dude or a lady? You could probably do something to make yourself look more like the character like getting your eyebrows done, at least, and practicing how to gaze with your eyes + contacts (looks like they have red eyes).

I'm not sure this will work on stretch spandex. Maybe covering florist foam in a fabric will work.

From the picture, it doesn't seem like she has princess seams at all. Your prototype looks really pretty, but is missing the gathers at the top. I would simply draft a long a-line or circle skirt but 3x, maybe more, your underbust size (it's going to be a HUGE amount of fabric), then gather it to the size you need. This is what a lot of people do just for the Sailor Fuku. That will give you all of those 'lines' at the top and a decent amount of fabric at the bottom. If you make an a-line pattern, cut the pieces on the bias so it will drape and gently cling around your body. As the other anons suggested, it looks like she has 3 or more layered tiers of chiffon with rolled hems. Good luck and please post your progress!

So my brother bought me this DIY Majora's Mask from Etsy, and I need some advice on what adhesive I should use on the individual pieces. I'll need some help on the eyes later, but let's do this step by step, eh?

What are your recommended tutorials for eyebrow coloring? I see a bunch of methods online, but which are your tried-and-true?

Not exactly sure on the material, but I'm guessing it's some sort of synthetic... wood? At least it has the texture and weight as such. My bro said that epoxy would help, but I dunno.

cosplaying Trish Una relatively soon. base wig is about 17in in the back, with bangs coming down just over the eyes. I've styled wigs before, but only minor changes, like spiking and trimming.
question is, how the hell do I achieve that little flip on top? will I need additional wefts, or a better wig (the one I bought is admittedly cheap, and I'm open to picking another one), or anything like that?
any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey /cgl/, hoping you can help an anon out and answer this survey for a college class of mines. It's kind of unrelated but I'm looking for some girls to answer and add some diversity to the results, right now it's all dudes.

Sorry, this is the only place i know there's a large concentration of girls.

Nigo I'm assuming?
Nice choice!
Worbla may be too expensive for a simple chest piece job like Nigo.

Try eva floor foam mats, You could either Fabric wrap them or go for plastidip and spraypaint if you want a less time consuming method

Here's some AWESOME tutorials by Evil Ted, his Patterning and Construction are stellar and hes a great teacher. If you dont have a dress form try and get somebody to trace your torso on butcher paper for a close idea for the right size, or make a duct tape dress form. If you don't have contact cement you can use Hot glue as well but Ive recently experimented with the stuff and holy shit I'm not using hot glue again unless I need a quick fix, the contact cement stuff is amazing.

Also I did a post over on Henshin Justice with some Ichigo pepakura files a few years ago. Feel free to use them, links are in the post.

Two questions:

1. How do I go about cosplaying characters with 'unrealistic' body proportions? eg. Elins from TERA are literally 12 year olds with the thighs and ass of Nicki Minaj.

2. The dress in pic related is fucking me over. How would I go about making it? Is it a dark dress with the white stuff on top or a white top with a black skirt underneath?
