I think Hotaru Tenshi is a bit too heavy to be called chubby. She's fat, not chubby. That said, she's also insanely hot. Like, I normally don't go for heavier women, but holy fuck does she do it for me like few others.

As to your question, OP, I think of chubby cosplayers the same thing I think of fit cosplayers, or skinny cosplayers, or tall ones, or short ones; it varies from person to person.

One of my greatest pet peeves is when ham beasts decide having huge tits means they are perfect for thin, but busty characters. Cosplay who you want, but if you chose a thin character who's supposed to have a lot of sex appeal (Stocking, Junko, Lala Deviluke, Sonico, Yoko for example) you're going to look ridiculous.

One of my friends used to be a big fat bald guy. He went through a diet program in the last year and lost something like eight stone (110 - 120 lbs). But I digress.

When he was a big fat bald guy, he'd cosplay as certain characters.

One was Dr Robotnik from Sonic. Another was Unlce Fester from the Adams Family.

He won prizes for both.

I'm always of the opinion, cosplay what you like, but be aware of your shape and the clothes to suit it. Bigger girls can wear bikini's if they want too. What shouldn't happen, is plus sized girls squeezing into size eight clothes. Thats when I have a problem.

As you do just simply look ridiculous. Have fun, cosplay whoever and whatever you want. Just make sure your clothes fit you.

I think they're fine as long as they choose a cosplay that is flattering.

This, for example, is not flattering. Spandex and satin make fat cosplayers look worse.
