People have snapped photos of me in lolita when I'm out. Sometimes they ask but usually they try to do it all sneaky-like. I don't care, I ignore them if I can. I've never ended up posted anywhere. But for everyday outings, I wear good coords and follow the rules and don't weat OTT anything. Just regular Classic or Gothic. I have cultivated a combination of concentration/bitch face that keeps people from approaching me if I want to be left alone. Its a good thing.

I've only ever seen silk, leather or canvas flats with elastic and ribbon for pointe; I'm guessing ribbon was used for flats before elastic was invented? Flats offer more freedom of the foot, leeway to flex and show the contours of the feet so any issue with the point can be easily corrected. Elastic ensures a snug fit and no sag

I wore lolita out skating with my boyfriend a while ago, and these DMMD (i think that's what the acronym is? The yaoi game with awful character design) closet cosplayers wouldn't leave us alone. At first they just kept staring at me, and trying to take pics and whatever, but then they full out followed us, and approached me asking to take cosplay photos with them. They got really uppity when I told them I wasn't cosplaying and didn't want to take photos, one of them told me my boyfriend was too good for me (???). I told them to stop embarrassing themselves and my boyfriend just laughed. There wasn't even a cosplay skate or anything going on. I really wish I had have gotten a photo.
