Didn't see one in the catalog, and I'm a bit stumped about what base wig to buy for my current project. Been commissioned by a close friend to make her a wig for Impa from Hyrule Warriors. I want to use a base wig with a lace front that already has a widow's peak, as we both hate the look of widow's peaks created with the caulk method. Arda's Tauriel wig looks like it would probably work, but then again, Impa's hair seems to be quite thin, not to mention a great deal shorter. It seems pretty dumb to buy a wig only to chop off close to 2 feet of fiber. However, Arda's shorter wigs with widow's peaks have lots of choppy layers, which I absolutely cannot have, as they would make the braids in the wig look like shit. Looked on WigFashion, as they have a decent selection of inexpensive lace fronts, they don't have anything in white or silver with a widow's peak.
Other base wig suggestions? I'm located in the US, but open to overseas stores. If nothing else is viable I'll just bite the bullet and get the Tauriel style, and re-purpose the fiber into wefts or something.

Any ideas on how to make the twin tails for this look like it's blowing in the wind like this? I don't want it to be as high up as the figure, but I was hoping I could still capture the effect a little bit.
I was thinking maybe using wire and covering it with the hair, but how would I attach that to the clips and what would be the best wire to use?

Isn't red-cluster a gal, not a guy?
Anyways, op again. That is a really nice wig, but it also uses a caulk hairline, which is a technique I'm not interested in using. I need a wig with a lacefront. Using a Jeannie wig would be more trouble than it's worth, tbh, because I'd have to as in lace and hand ventilate the entire hairline, which I don't have enough time to do before my friend needs the wig. I think what I'm going to end up doing is getting an Imaldris and do a combination of very tiny amounts of hand ventilation, and trimming away at the existing hairline, as there's about 1.5 inches to work with. Her widow' speak isn't super pronounced the more I look at it, and that way I can get all the little variations in her hairline in a way that looks semi-natural.
Also other anon asking for reviews of the fit of the Jeannie wig was not me.

And then i had this weird crimped/ semi melted area on it, like the general area where you would put on a head band if that makes sense?

And then the back was so bare that when you held it up, you could clearly see out the back of it.

Honestly i'm hoping that i just got a bad wig because everyone else's experience with them seems to be nice. I might try and order from them again someday, but man that was the first bad wig i've ever gotten and it was just so bad.

I'm making the same thing with my group anon! Attach wefts to a base (a oval shaped foam piece with a small hole in the middle is what we were using but anything that is stiff and holds it shape while not being heavy will work).
Just layer the hair on it and glue or sew them into place. Stub your wig and fit your buns over (or onto) the stubs and pin them in place. Use extra wefts to make the hanging twintails.

It would be possible, it'd also be pretty cost prohibitive. The sort of wig you'd need to do that would probably be entirely ventilated and made of human hair, with baby hair around the hairline.. Those sort of wigs start at $300 and only go up from there. I'd recommend using your own hair. It's a hairstyle that was made on real hair, so it will look more natural and like the original if you style it on your own hair.
Live action is my main exception to the "always wear a wig" rule. A lot of times wigs look pasted on and awkward for live action characters.

I'm concerned because I have bangs and also my hair is a bit shorter than hers? I was looking at Arda's Matilda.
I know the hairline would be less accurate with a wig, but I'm nervous about using my own hair and it being bad looking or not holding the shape for long? I guess I can try styling my own hair in advance and see how it looks... I don't really style my own hair beyond my bangs...

Always work with felt for the moment if you lack experience with big hair. What you can do for an antenna is stick a weak string of metal (ex: the ones used in a guitar) into the same shape of your felt. They are strong enough to stay up but not enough to pierce through your skull. You can also start beneath the wig cap for support/firmness.

I have lots of wigs from them and I adore the brand, but when I got one of these I was actually surprised I had to redo the ponytail because the wig cap was insanely small. Thank you both! My hair goes around my shoulders, but it's stupidly thick. And dark (I'm using a light coloured wig). So every little baby hair that shows is too obvious. I was thinking of using styling gel on the sides of my hair to keep those baby hairs in place? They're kind of hard to keep under a wig cap or in a braid, although I never had a problem with them because all my wigs are... well, normal wigs.

>> No.8060608

Didn't see a hair thread, and this question is too dumb to start a new one.

I really want to go blonde and eventually pastel, but all of my friends tell me not to. I don't know if this is because they're just used to dark hair on me, or if it's legitimately ugly. Even the hair stylist said that it would be too much work to go lighter. Should I just try it at home and keep a box of dark dye handy in case it goes bad?

>> No.8060615

>>8060608
Ignoring your friends, the hairstylist probably thinks your hair is too thick to handle dyes. Some dark hair can only be lightened to a gross orange, any more risks severe breakage.
Try seeing what a different hairstylist says though. Go for one of those punk/teenage places, they're used to handling weird dyes.

>> No.8060648

>>8060608
If you have to bleach your hair more than once to get it light enough to go pastel, the upkeep is going to be hell, because you're going to have to bleach your roots twice. Which means dealing with orange roots for at least two days whilst your scalp generates enough oil to stop you from getting chemical burns during the second bleaching.

As someone who had pastel hair and faced these problems, your hair is going to look shit a lot more than it's going to look good.

Also if you lighten your hair you can't just stick a dark dye over the top to re-darken it. Hair lightens in stages and the colours are lifted in a certain order, you need to replace the colours you've taken out in the opposite order when you darken lightened hair.

An friend posted thinking of ordering a wig from Lucaille. I was thinking of ordering a couple of their love Live wigs (Eli and Nozomi)

Ugh, Lucaille is such a hit or miss with the colours. I have four wigs from them and they're really nice quality, but the colours were never as expected (except for a black wig, but that's not exactly a colour hard to get right). I got a pale blonde wig and received a dark yellow one (much like Eli's hair colour). It wasn't /radioactive/ blonde or anything, still pretty, but not the colour I was looking for.

I wish I could recommend them more because I really do think the quality is super nice, but I tend to be really picky about colour accuracy. But if you don't mind risking it, go for it! They're not going to send you a green wig if you asked for a red one, but keep in mind the tone will probably be different from the one on the picture.

This one is slightly off-topic, but hear my out.

I have short pink hair, and my sister is getting married. I'm the maid of honor, and my sister has very respectfully asked if I would wear a brunette wig to her wedding, which I believe is a perfectly reasonable request.

However, she wants all the bridesmaids to have updos. (pic related) and that's where I'm having issues. Beyond simple pigtails and ponytails, I have no idea how to find styles like this. So far the closest I've found is Anna or Elsa from Frozen, but she really would like me to be a brunette because I'll match the other girls.

I know I can do basic wig styling, but nothing of this caliber, so I'd rather try to find something that starts close to these. The style itself isn't super important, so long as it is brown and vaguely intricate looking.

I'm sorry for the poor quality image, I'm posting from mobile. Anyway, this will be the first wig styling attempt I've done that's more than just fixing bangs.
I've picked a colour I like but can't decide a style. Should I get a long wig and tie it up in a ponytail style and make the bun from there, or should I get a short wig plus wefts and do it as two separate pieces?
Also, IF I do it as two pieces, how do I firmy attach the bun to the base? I have seen some tutorials (including a few posted above), but the more opinions I can get the better.

What's the best way to attach horns directly into a wig?
