So I've noticed in the last couple of Lolita threads that there's been discussion about whether it makes a difference on what "type" of fatty-chan you are. Some seagulls say it does and others say fat is as fat does no matter how much. Lets settle this debate once and for all, so gulls what's your opinion on this? Are their "tiers of fatness" that can make or break how a fatty looks in Lolita? Do fatty-chans only look good in Lolita if they're short? What about tall fatties? Do low end "chubby" fatties such as size twelve to fourteens look better and can even be cute than the ones on the ham-planet two hundred pound+ spectrum? Or do they all look equally awful and anyone that hits plus-size should give up on Lolita until they can lose some weight? What about those low-end girls that can actually fit some brand but only fully-shirred ones, does that make a difference?

Let's hash out this fatty-chan issue once and for all~

It's all about how you cary thr weight. Im 5'5 148 lbs but I also have a 26 inch waist. Honestly you're probably not what most rational people would consider "fat". But there is a fitness board where you can discuss and debate all that.

>> No.8013461

167 cm, 73 kg, 97 bust, 74 waist.
I'm definitely a plus size in Lolita. Deep down my heart I'm a brandwhore though; I usually wear shirred brand (though no fully shirred stuff because that looks ugly as fuck). IW, Meta and some Baby stuff is very forgiving with sizing. Thankfully I'm more hourglass-shaped so at least I have a waist and don't look like a rectangle box of cereals like many plus size people (or OP's pic) do.

I know I need to lose weigh but I am just way too lazy to work out so I honestly don't give a fuck if people call me a fatty-chan; there's some truth in it. But I have yet to be posted to cgl with any kind of insult (not that I am anywhere near as popular enough to get posted here though).

I considered starting a diet and exercise more in 2015 but only because my inner brandwhore wants me to be able to wear more brand. I'm okay with my weight and just annoyed with my boobs so I am mainly losing weight to achieve smaller boobs...

>> No.8013464

Fatness is only tolerable if they can keep the silhouette. If your gut protrudes farther than a petticoat or two (or three) can manage, it's not worth it to be in the fashion yet.

>> No.8013466

>>8013464
I second this. If you weigh more than the average Jane it's so important to make sure you wear more petticoats than your average lolita too!

>> No.8013471

But doesn't their fatness already give them more then enough poof?

>> No.8013473

5'6", 163 lb, 37 in. bust and 29 in. waist
Most of the weight is in my hips, butt, and thighs, but I'm probably borderline fatty for this fashion. I fit comfortably into partially shirred Baby. Honestly I find that my shoulder and bust measurements are more of a problem than my waist, since it still falls into the larger end of brand sizes often enough, but forget about any OPs and many JSKs and blouses for me. I don't really have any plans for losing the weight though because it's hard to feel like something's off when I look so good in normal clothes. I guess I'll probably end up naturally shedding a few pounds once the holidays are over and I'm not eating Christmas feasts every other day.

I never got the whole "fully shirred stuff looks ugly" I mean sure if you're massive and are trying to fit your fat ass into the dress and are busting at the seams yeah, but other than that scenario I really don't find any difference????

Besides Lolita was always concentrated more on the lower, print part of a dress where all the poof flows through, not the bodice part.

>I never got the whole "fully shirred stuff looks ugly" I mean sure if you're massive and are trying to fit your fat ass into the dress and are busting at the seams yeah, but other than that scenario I really don't find any difference????
It is just a personal preference. I don't like how fully shirred items look on me; on top of that I'm afraid to look fat in an "obvious, too fat for normal burando"-way. As long as I can fit half-shirred brand I won't wear fully shirred pieces.

>Besides Lolita was always concentrated more on the lower, print part of a dress where all the poof flows through, not the bodice part.
I wear mostly Classic and don't own prints. And as said, since it is a personal preference of mine I'm more paranoid about shirring looking ugly or being considered as an obvious fatty.

>> No.8013492

>>8013426
I do think their are tiers of fatties yes. Lolita in general is a fashion that very much emphasizes shortness and petiteness so while the short fatties might be able to get away with wearing some stuff the taller ones should really just forget about it, as they have both their weight AND height against them, at least the short fatties still have their height in their favor.

Of course there comes a point where even a short fatty-chan gets so fat that it doesn't even matter anymore cause she can't even any Brand anyways and ends up looking like a oompa-loompa, but I find that's more of the very extreme, morbidly obese case and not the norm for most fatties on the short side.

I think shortish girls with a small frame who are just a bit more squishy than usual can look fine and may even look extra cute. Once you're so big you no longer have a defined waistline, you have a problem.
Tall fat girls probably have it the worst with things not fitting vertically AND horizontally and tall fat girls in sweet unfortunately tend to look like enormous babies. It's not a nice thing to say but IMO if you're both tall and fat you might still pull off an elegant historical look in classic or aristocrat but you're never going to look 'cute'. That one tall apple-shaped girl who dresses fairy kei is probably the best example of a body type clashing horribly with a chosen aesthetic. I feel really bad for her because she can't help it, but there's just no way she's ever going to look good in her favourite style.

I think this (fitting comfortably into partially shirred burando) is the upper size limit to looking good in Lolita. Once past this, things start to look weird and distorted. Even if things are made to size or come in 2-8xl, that doesn't mean they look acceptable. You can't simply size a pattern up and expect it to look the same as on a slim or normal weight person, it just doesn't.
It's about the aesthetic too and I don't think obese or upper level overweight people fit the aesthetic no matter what they wear or how it fits. I don't like full shirring at all.

Anon we might be the same person! I've generally been eating healthier and that's what got me down to 160~lbs. At one point I was at 154 lbs but I was training like a beast three times a week in a boot camp program, but I had to stop because their strict scheduling no longer worked for me once I started college and had classes at all sorts of times in the day and a new schedule every semester. If there was a boot camp around here that could accommodate an irregular and changing schedule I'd so go back to it.

But in the meantime, when I eat healthy and maintain portion control, my body stays at around 160 lbs. I might be a fatty for this fashion but honestly I don't feel like one, and medically I'm at no risks for anything so I try not to worry. Though I should at least start walking every day. Actually, I think I'll go do that now. The weather is nice and there's no reason not to.

I'm 170 (5'7) and have muscle from ballet so my weight needs to stay at the lower border of normal on a height/weight chart to keep my waist measurement in line with IW and JetJ size. I think anyone 5'4 or taller should just throw out the scale and rely on measurements and fit. And over 5'6, pay attention to length as well. Yes, I know that advice is not the most useful for fatties but it may be inspiring to not get fat or for fatties to get fit.

>> No.8013799

>>8013792
You can actually look up the routines that real boot camps do and build your own. It takes roughly an 45min to an hour of intense exercise and the main, steadfast rule is that there are NO breaks and no stopping. Keep a steady pace that allows you to finish, but barely.

This is excellent advice, especially on the issue of height.

A related top tip would be to try and get bodice measurements of dresses before buying them. If you're tall, busty, have a large ribcage, or just have a long torso, you're going to want dresses with longer bodices.

I have, in the past, tried on AP JSKs only to find that the waist of the dress sits on my ribcage, a good few inches above my natural waist. I find that JetJ + Haenuli are the best for my body; AP and, weirdly, bodyline, are absolute demons for having short bodices

I think after a certain size it just doesn't look good. Like super obese won't look good.
I think this pic is the biggest you can go and still have it look good. And this is assuming you're actually wearing an outfit that looks good on you and not ill fitting.

But girls with apple shaped bodies, no matter the size, unless they wear some shape wear or something to slim down the waist, I think they'll always look bad in lolita.

Some people treat it that way. There's some comic that shows a chubby, a little over plus size, facing a skinny woman and fat woman in two different panels both shouting "How dare you wear OUR clothes?!" or something like that. Can't find it. I hate a lot of "body acceptance" and "fat shaming" shit because they tend to just bash skinny women which kind of goes against "all bodies are beautiful."

if they see people who are able to maintain a healthy weight through a healthy diet and exercise it ruins their notion that there's nothing they can do about being the size of a small whale. This results in a lot of anger directed towards people with restraint.

Its very rare for there to be times when a healthy diet and exercise don't work. The conditions that promote weight gain despite this are rare. And the solution is to eat less and exercise more. Best diet I ever did was Dukan. I'm not going to go over all the deets here but it's basically Atkins that won't kill you. From a fattie to a thinnie Minnie: it's easy as shit to maintain. Losing over a hundred pounds when you've grown half your life with the weight and having to learn and educate yourself on what to do to lose it is very difficult. If losing weight were as easy as "TRY HARDER FATASS" then a lot more people would be thin and there would be no such thing as dieticians, bariatric surgeons, emotional counsellors, or physical therapists who specialize in helping big folks. I think you're minimizing the problem because you feel you've been through something that you feel you've "conquered" and can't see why others struggle. You can literally sit on the couch all day and lose weight. The solution is easy, even without advanced education. Use simple math to calculate the calories you eat now. Decrease that number until you begin to lose weight. Continue until desired weight met.

Weight loss is not as complicated as people make it out to be.

It's much harder to maintain than to lose. Statistically, people succeed at weight loss but slip back into their old habits and re-gain the weight. This is a documented phenomenon. Don't pretend to know what you're talking about.

I don't see girls with my figure doing Lolita, and I don't know if it is worth the effort. I feel like I will come out looking goofy and spending lots of time and money modding clothes. How it looks on you depends on how it fits and which styles you choose which is why you start with sizing and go from there. At your measurements and height, not everything will fit or be long enough so you have to sort through by size and length then take into consideration anything like a long waist, big boobs, etc, then you might have a better idea looking at the actual things that fit you. I think some style or other of Lolita can pretty much look good on anyone but fatty-chans if it fits correctly and is styled well. Nice try.
Having fatties around is a pita because they are sensitive about weight topics and it's often discussed, how things fit, what we wear, you know, fashion concerns. It's weird discussing how you are pushing to lose 2 more cm to wear your Moitié when Hippolita is sitting 2 chairs down.

Nah, the whole poor-fag thing is just a coverup and I doubt most people even really give a fuck if someone's designs are being ripped off. Let's just face facts, the replica market is there to mostly appease fatties and let them wear the cute prints they otherwise wouldn't be able to and THAT'S why everyone is so butthurt about it, they hate anything that gives fatty-chans a chance in this fashion. I mean think about it, why else do Lolitas get just as horrified and mad when the fatties alter their precious burando? Remember the Tifaret and Cat's Tea Party incident? Everyone was all crying on here "muh dream dress~" when really shouldn't have they been grateful that at least she supported AP and their designer instead of supporting to replicas? They didn't give a shit though and still gave her as much grief as they would if she would have worn a replica, which should tell you something about how much the replica debate is really about "replicas"

>TD;LR: Lolitas just want fatties to stop being interested in the fashion and will do whatever it takes to kick them out and deter them from wearing it.

>>8014632

She's on the lighter side by female body building standards. The bikini is fucking ugly on its own and unfortunately, it seems to be a standard cut in body building competitions. Also, I think that is just looks weird with the way her breasts look in comparison to the rest of her body. I'm going to assume that they're implants. It's actually not all that uncommon for female body builders to have breast implants to make themselves look more feminine while bulking up.

Chubby is a kind euphemism that is used for fat people when you don't want to say fat. There are degrees of fat, fat, fatter, fattest but fat is fat.
You can think she's cute, but I do not. To me she is overweight. To me, she's fat.

Well, people excuse and pussyfoot around it too much, I think. Why nothing be direct? We are anon here to speak plainly, honestly. I'm tired of people's excuses and delusions when measuring tapes and scales are everywhere. This is not primarily a fashion for fatties, they are the fringe and I'm sick of coddling them over their weight and the realism of the fit of this fashion. And yes, in before 'it's for Azn fatties' I know many men and gyaru giggle and say 'debu-chan' when Rori is mentioned. That just means western fat is even more off the beam for being suitable, into left field.

It's not really about kicking them out or deterring them from wearing it. That doesn't stop fatties from buying replicas and dressing in a fashion that doesn't suit their shape whatsoever.

People hate on fatties because they're a fucking eyesore. That's it.

Being fat is something that's solvable.
