In a home with slovenly parents, it is easy to grow up thinking this level of squalor is normal. I grew up in a house that looks just like the house in that picture, with shit in piles everywhere. It took me years of being the messy roommate to realize it was not okay. People become so acclimated to filth that they can't even fathom what it means to live in a clean and orderly home. I grew up in an unkept house like that as well. Actually it was pretty nice when I was young but now in its current state I joke that it looks like a crack house. It was a combo of not needing to use this house to host holidays at, and then my grandparents passed away, so I guess my mom just completely lost the motivation for house maintenance after that. Not to mention the lack of money for renovations. It's pretty sad. My room has always been kinda messy though. I try to keep it ok but I'm the type to forget shit if it's not right in front of my face.

Sea shells, driftwood, and I think I see an antler in there. Driftwood is good for fish that need soft water (goldfish don't like soft water), but that much calcium leaking into the water from the shells and bone can make her goldfish sick. Goldfish do need hard water as opposed to soft water, but there is such a thing as too much mineral leeching into their water supply.

Also, by the looks of the water's color, I doubt she boiled a single one of those decorations before she put them in. It's especially essential to boil driftwood, it brown the water if you don't.

I feel really bad for those goldfish. I wish goldfish weren't treated like trash pets, they're actually difficult to keep well.

I made the mistake of wearing SNK merch inside of an Applebees and a neckbeard approached out of no where and started talking about what complete trash SNK was and would not stop telling us the plots of "better" anime even though I told him I didn't care and my friend vehemently told him to leave several times. What eventually got him to leave us alone was a drunk girl walked by and grabbed onto him and he followed her back to her table. Speaking as someone who is somewhat keeping up with this comic it has turned out to be the craziest fucking shit. Not exactly Watchmen, but nonetheless impressively entertaining from the joke of a plot the games have and the complete dumb silliness of the early issues.
I recommend picking up Sonic Genesis, and the occasional new issue. If only to see how wonderful they write Eggman.
