Does anyone have experience with lace front wigs? The one i bought from Arda was extremely tight on my head, and i also looked like shit, maybe i'm just uggo?

The wig i got was a Dany during the Black friday sale, i plan to fix the hairline so it's good for fef.

The wig is going to be for Feferi, also is there any Feferi's that used goggles and didn't look like weenies?

Pure black wigs look like shit without makeup and especially lace fronts in my experience. With that said, I do think the final result is great. Just make sure your hair/wig cap doesn't show through the lace. Also, cutting the hairline to look more natural really helps. Lace tight to the hair and whatnot.

Also, ardas LFWs have much tighter lace than what the first one I bought, so that may be part of it, that it just looks unnaturally thick.

I have two short lace fronts, one from the sale Arda had in november because they were disstatisfied with the lace quality of that batch (wrong colour or something) so they sold them all for like 30 bucks. I also have one I bought off of ebay. Arda's lace is definitely finer and softer, but that might just be that batch. Even then, with the ebay wig which is clearly plastic, I can't say it's particularly scratchy at all. At least not when the wig is fit snugly and the lace glued.

On that topic, best way to glue lace fronts without bunch of grey getting stuck on the back of the lace?

Also to answer your other question, in the Arda video posted up-thread they show that there is double-sided wig tape, so instead of great getting on the lace it would get on the tape.

But i've never tried it so i can't be sure. Either way i hope you find a solution to your problem.

A have friends that wear lacefronts and have both the bad batch and the regular Arda lacefronts.

Lacefronts in general tend to be a bit scratchy. Especially ethnic ones, it makes them easier to add spirit gum to and glue into place for a long period of time.

Softer lacefronts tend to not last as long because when they are cleaned they rip.

Arda' bad batch was made with a super soft lace, but its very peach and the mesh is farther apart, which makes it easier to see if you are up close and try to cover it. It also makes hair knots (which is how the hair is put onto the wefts more noticeable)

The regular Arda Wigs lace that is scratchy is pretty much what a high quality ethnic wig would be made of. Again because its easier to clean spirit gum off of.

Guess what time it is.
That's right, time for the ~Crunchy year review 2k14~

So a few notes before I begin, first off, the year isn't quite over yet, so I reserve myself for the fact that new statements or cosplays may show up.

Due to the reoccuring discussions about quantity I also want to point out how few cosplayers reach the output that CBC&;co has. The average is around four or five cosplays from what I can see so far, and asking more than a finished cosplay every twice months is actually asking a lot. This also ties in with the appearance of people on the list appearing in the tags. Please remember that there are people behind these names, with real life stuff to do and real feelings and whatnot.

Shit, I like this. My main nitpick is that the splatters on her shirt aren't explosive enough and seem more like random daubs of paint, but gore makeup is weird to apply without experience. The photography and editing are great on this (excepting the blurry edge on the lopped-off arm). Wig and horns also look really good.

Just for starters, she's not a "safe" character to cosplay since she invites aggressive flirting and can also provide a cover to be aggressive under the excuse of being in-character. As soon as troll symbols were introduced and associated with their caste system and blood type it became a thing to treat cross-hemotype cosplay as at least mildly appropriative. It's been a thing on Tumblr and to different degrees all over the place. With the introduction of Calliope's and then Jade's trollsona, it got sort of renergized. Since, in the setting, a trollsona is easily something compareable to blackface.

I think little touches like that are cool if done well, but a lot of people in the Homestuck fandom probably don't have the skill in making prosthetics to pull it off. Gills are cool (pic related is a PETA ad but is nice for inspiration), but webbed fingers may be incompatible with some characters. I don't think Eridan would be able to get on all of his rings if he had webs, unless they were really short and vestigial or something.

I posted a few threads back asking if this length was too big for Terezi horns but didnt post pic. Posting again just to get a better opinion because you cant really tell without seeing them. Also I was in the middle of painting them during the photo, hence the crappy paint job.

A lot of the complaints were about their big amount of Humanstuck cosplays, and I stand by my statement that they still do it much better than most. Still has a high shot output and a lot of fun and interesting gifs (something I’d love to see more of among cosplayers in general, making usage of tumblr’s photoset function) and in that sense and with the cosplays they put together they’re pretty creative. I would love to see some proper shots of their Eridan and Cronus, though.

i use ben nye under.
i use this opaque eye shadow pallete and use the dark grey colors, cant remember the brand lol.
i used several brushes... tbh im pretty sure they werent for contouring. ive used a kabuki brush, and this other smaller brush.
i try to blend as much as i can.
i just rub the brush on some of the powder, blow on it gently, and shade the eyes, jawline, and the temples, im really only having trouble with my cheeks.
i dont have any pictures of me at the moment.

Cheeks need a lot less powder than you'd think they do. If your face is really round, try experimenting with how far towards the center of your face the dark part comes.

Kabukis are for blending and large application, aren't they? try a blush brush.

Elf is a really hit or miss brand, i have some of their brushes and they're pretty solid for the price but i stay away from their eyeshadows.

A good cheap brand i like is BH Cosmetics.

Another thing is if your contouring is coming out to be too dark try going over it with translucent powder (Ben nye neutral set is pretty good)

One thing that helps me find where to contour for my cheekbones is to suck my cheeks in and make a fishy face. Apply shadow in the depression going from your ear to the corner of your mouth, or a little bit higher if you want a stronger illusion of cheekbones.

Also, are you contouring for a male or female character? If it's for a girl, you can draw attention away from the contouring on your cheeks by having dramatic eye makeup.

i was actually the one who unintentionally started that drama mentioned up thread if we're thinking of the same situation.

all i had had said was that i didn't get why she was being posted every thread because she's pretty mediocre. someone (possibly her) replied that her work is clean and she adds so many unique touches. i'd pointed out she adds the same touches most roxys add (i actually found less sticking to canon while googling), and her faq lists where to buy every piece of it, and another anon pointed out her wig is barely styled.

that's when she freaked out on tumblr. as far as i know she was never "ripped to shred", another anon and i had pointed out she's very average and not worth reposting every single thread. someone might have suggested that it was selfpost, but i don't remember for sure.

I think everyone except maybe neokalugova compares to other pretty tiers like kitty-maru or fromglibo. It doesn't make sense to hold everyone to a higher standard, otherwise we'll keep running into the same problem we've had all year where old people aren't removed and new people aren't added.

If we want to make special exceptions and add a few people with one hit wonder showstoppers that's one thing but the whole point of crunchy'a review is to find new, good cosplayers.

I didn't mean "making room" in the literal sense so much as keeping tiers grouped with like peers so to speak. If pretty becomes a more introductory category, then we should bump the more established cosplayers already on pretty tier up to the next level. SS should be promoted no question. I could support crowmunist being promoted too. If kitty-maru has future HS cosplay plans I'd bump them as well. Since cancerously made it there's no reason to keep them off.

As for Kisbe and Dei-Sandvich, it has previously been a matter of lack of tutorials. I do think thir craftmanship warrant a position on God Tier, but I'm afraid they're not the types to stick in the same fandom for very long and am worried that they might not cosplay Homestuck for much longer. Of course, that alone isn't a very good reason to hold them back, but that is my personal bias and thus I haven't really said anything about them.
