Feeling pretty hyped due to ssb4 on wiiu.

I'd love to see more Fire Emblem cosplay, especially Awakening.

I love these threads.

I'm currently in the process of Lucina for next June. Want her done earlier for a shoot though since my friend has yet to wear her Chrom. Also got Samus variants planned, Fox slightly humanised due to bad weather here and the Awakening Bride class dress.

I've done quite a few Nintendo cosplays; but none I feel I can self post and be really proud of due to imperfections.

Braving a self post. I am really proud of everything about this costume save the breastplate. I'll probably re-make the breastplate eventually since it was my first time using worbla and I had no idea what I was doing at the time.
This year I plan on doing Palutena since ssmbwu really does give damn good references

props on the wings, shoulder pieces, the arm socks (which most people sew like ass and make ill fitting) and the boot covers and the paint job on the shoes

staff looks well constructed but rushed, some black high lights and distressing would have brought it up to the quality of the rest of the shit

Thanks man. Like I said, I had no idea what I was doing with the worbla first time using it. I agree distressing on the staff would have gone a long way though. And yeah the boot covers and dress were something I really wanted to make sure came out good so I'm actually glad you noticed. Not sure if more talented than jnig is a complement or not cause I don't think she makes her armor?

SDCC did a thing these last 2 years, last year was an uncut sheet of modern masters foil to first place, think it's valued at somewhere near $15,000.

standard and legacy are your fav formats?
most people view legacy as SCG amateur competitive and modern as competitive and standard as the entry level format

legacy pretty much = vintage out here on the west coast.

star city only goes about as far as vegas once in blue moon.

so the 1-2 big legacy events a year fire about as often as the one or 2 big vintage events in the midwest (guessing you're out there since legacy fires often for you)

Not sure if selfposts, but can we honestly just agree to stop posting these in every single even vaguely nintendo themed thread? I can't really say for the others, because I didn't really follow up their work up to the costume's completion. I think that the Sumia used worbla for hers.

But in my own armor-part, I used the craftfoam-worbla technique for the pauldron of my Chrom cosplay. I didn't sandwhich it though; I cut my worbla with an extra 3/4 inch allowance and folded the extra in when I covered my pieces.

If you're interested in tips for specifically a pegasus knight armor, I made a set for my girlfriend. I only used worbla covered foam for the chestpiece and the belt buckle, otherwise, I used 1/4 inch EVA for the shoulders, the elboes, arms and etcs.

As for tips, there the method that I mentioned earlier about folding in your worbla instead of sandwiching it, because that'll cost you twice as much to make an armor. In terms of "finishing" the worbla properly, I'd say use gesso but mix in a bit of modelling paste. It should make your gesso thicker so you dont need to brush in as many small layers and sand easier. Dont use anything under 100 grit or else the gesso might rip off while sanding it.

For my Falchion, I used a wooden base and glued into it the raised details with misc materials. Only tip I can give is that when you pattern it, only do half of a Falchion and just recopy it on the other side. It guarantees symmetry.

Imo, the thing I see most Pegasus Knights struggling with is their shoulder armour slipping. In Kamui's armour book she discusses making a 'mini' pauldron on the inside of pieces like this on a column, which we did and it works pretty well. You can sort of see it on our Cordelia here >>7979312
We fasten them under our armpits with flesh toned leather string, along with the functional straps. Velcro keeps all the different sections of the arm armour together.

I also think good glue works the best for finishing worbla, and the 'fast dry' stuff is great because it dries almost... plasticy in comparison to the regular stuff.

My hair clips are half-pearls I glued to a strip of curved worbla, which has clips on the inside that keep it in place. I couldn't find round hair clips anywhere online in stock.

For the boobs, I used large clear plastic balls I had laying around from other costumes to form the shape and lots of patience. I recommend looking up some breastplate tutorials, there's tonnes of em online!

In all honesty, ssb4 is pretty shot and boring. Don't get me wrong, I love the ssb series, but this lacks the single player potential that the last two had loads of. If the multiplayer had proper matchmaking and dedicated servers, it wouldn't be so bad. Currently, though, it's a lag-fest and enraging to play if you're not very good.

Actually he is holding a shield, it's just the angle of the picture that was taken makes it flat and therefore invisible. (Also there's no handle on neither Blue or Purple's, so their stealthy/not so stealthly holding them from the bottom.)

The whole purpose was the try and create our costumes using as little money as possible. It worked. The most expensive thing were the wigs. Also our black friend has cosplayed as Dark Link many times before we decided to do this, he just likes the character.

This was last year at Matsuri.
