Off topic but a pet peeve - please stop saving photographic files as .png's, save them as .jpg. The file size would decrease by 75%.

Png's are for flat vector/transparent images which it is far better at optimising, not photos. Thank you.

PNG is a lossless image format so your photographs come out at a higher quality if you save as PNG, with a much smaller size than any other lossless format.

I feel like these are sort of false equivalencies a bit. With a replica, you're paying someone else for a cheap knock off, not just stealing it like downloading something illegally. Neither is particularly great, but if you're stealing something, you just might be hurting the main company, whereas buying a replica is paying someone else to steal an idea. There is no reason to save a high res lossless photographic image to upload on an image board as a .png. Hell, you could even save a high quality lossless jpg with a much smaller file size. Artifacting only occurs if you keep re saving it over and over, or you are saving it as a low-med quality jpg. Jpgs are GOOD at maintaining photographic quality and minimising file size.

Pngs are best for web and mobile assets (buttons, icons, gradients, etc) with few colors which they can output incredibly small compared to other formats. Png's are not made for saving and optimising photographic images for web or in general.

If you want to save large high res photos in a lossless format on your computer, go ahead - .tif's are ideal. You'll find if you purchase stock photography they provide photos as high quality high res jpgs or tif's, and maybe sometimes a raw file, but never ever in .png format.
