Outfits like these, with frilly arm-warmers and leg-warmers and so on, they have me wondering... Was this ever a legitimate trend? Was it ever a real part of lolita style, or is it something that's been bounced back and forth between itas and "manga-kas"?

Seems to me like it exists in an isolated bubble, synonymous with ita and yet believed by itas to be proper lolita. Where did it COME from?

As for weebs/itas (I admit my bias here is mostly an estimation of fat weebs. As I have known many over the years.): 1) super feminine and romantic "when can u go wrong with lace guise? :^) totally Lolita" and 2) allows them to cheat and feel like they can forgo (is that really how it's spelled autocorrect?) a blouse and save cash, or in many cases I've had told to me, beat the heat.

I've literally had girls tell me that somehow all kinds of weird leg and arm warmer like monstrosities were worth it because they "felt less hot". Do fat people feel the heat more keenly or was it just those weebs?

I think that's taffeta in the picture, if i'm not mistaken... interesting texture for the parchment aspect but I would want something probably printed to look fibrous.

Is it bad if I say I really like this? I love the idea of a LOTR/The Hobbit coord and I think this was pretty spot-on... except that wig needs some work. I think its really more of a gender=bend with lolita influence then straight-up lolita though.

I suspect that the arm warmers originate somewhere with kimono sleeves. You keep the iconic look of tiny hands peeking out of wide draping sleeves but with the added sexy factor of exposed upper arms. Maybe the leg warmer things are just an extension of that, like when lolitas decide to put wristcuffs on their ankles for extra kawaii.

the problem is that we're too nice. Just wear a shitty replica with ugly flats and you will be accepted because "ita is a bad word don't use it, everyone can make their own lolita style blah blah blah" and poof , none of us even look lolita. Sometimes even the brand-wearing ones , even if not dressed bad , just look like they're from another fashion. And we don't give a fuck , and every group pic looks like shit. I hate it so much when people are just too lazy to buy items that are made specifically for lolita and try to cater to normalfag tastes because they just want people to call them elegant (as in, casual definition of elegant) rather than focusing on the actual lolita elegance. They can't balance with the cute elements and look either like grandmas or weaboos. Classic lolitas are too elegant , same for gothic lolitas and sweet lolitas look like they were mixed with fairy kei.

We're spoiled rotten with lolita events and we even have a Baby shop. Why do we still look like shit ? Also we need a suitable replacement for Josca. The amount of good lolita vloggers we have is a bit too close to zero.

Have you actually been attending any of the French events this year ? Everyone (less than 5 exceptions) was pretty nicely dressed at the Garden Party and Following Alice. The FB groups are sometimes pretty bad/hugboxy but the itas don't come to the 'expensive' events.

Granted, we don't have good vloggers (Libellule's not making videos anymore, Estelle does it to be popular, Charlène's a drama queen, etc) but we really don't need Josca (and the RT or whatever). I wasn't in the comm at that time but I heard she just disappeared without saying anything to anyone ?

I've never sold any of my lolita and definitely don't plan to in the near future. I wear the same , boring , old-schoolish coords every day because I'm obsessed about everything matching and all. I have the absolute need of having perfect wavy long blonde hair with a perfectly structured headdress on top , and the same babydoll blouse with the same baby socks , the same wristcuffs and the same rhs. no jewelry , no other accessories. everything matches , the outfit doesn't need anything more nor anything less.

Lolita is all I'll ever want to wear so when I see someone with something wrong in their outfit , even a small thing , I feel extra offended like someone actually used my headdress as a period pad. Piercings in lolita are my pet peeve. Not because I dislike piercings in lolita, but because I dislike the jewellery the majority of lolitas choose for their piercings.

If you're going to have multiple holes in your face, make sure that they're a) cohesive and look like a matched set, and b) wear something fancier than a plain ring or bar. Having a bunch of mismatched jewellery makes you look like an impulsive dumbass kid. And having boring jewellery just as bad. I know changing new piercings isn't something you do for weeks, but pleeeease. There are so many options out there and a lot of piercers carry fancier designs to begin with. So shell out more than just he minimum and get something nicer.

FFS. Why choose the simplest/ugliest barbell available when you're wearing such fancy clothes otherwise?!
