any good tail/ears patterns out there?

>> No.7879808

>>7879806
All I can offer is that in another fur thread, a fursuit maker said it was better to do horizontal strips connected every so many inches to make the tail than making it one big tube.

>> No.7879867

Out of curiosity, why do fur suits use that material thats practically carpet material instead of say, fake fur?

Some of the fake fur is really realistic now, i have a blanket made in it and it's AMAZING feeling against skin.

>> No.7879875

>>7879867
The better quality/more realistic the fur, the more expensive it is. Furries are notorious for not wanting to pay a reasonable sum for their fursuits. It makes sense that the suits end up made out of cheaper materials if the person making it isn't getting paid enough for their work.

>> No.7879902

The 7cm fur from this taobao store is pretty good and probably cheaper than buying locally. http://jintujj.tmall.com/

>> No.7879920

>>7879875
Really? because i hear fur suits go for $4000 on average... Thats not cheap to me

>> No.7880321

>>7879867
If you're talking about the backing of the fur used to construct the suit, it's just the standard backing. If it was lined with fleece or similar soft fabric, it would be hot AND become dirty and smell very quickly if you're only wearing it over your bare skin.

When wearing a suit, your main concern is staying cool, so extra layers are usually not a good thing.
Suiters usually wear UnderArmour underneath their suits to keep as cool as possible.
Basically, it's a bad idea to have the suit touching your skin at all. Getting sweat all over a bodysuit? It's VERY time-consuming to wash and dry a suit and keep it looking nice.

>>7879920
That's a very high price, not an average.

Usually, a good fullsuit goes for anywhere between 1k and 3k, the on average, good suits sell for about 2000$ or so.

Obviously, some can get up to 4k, but that's a higher estimate, not an "average" price for a suit.

I've ordered from them maybe once a few years ago and it went okay, but after hearing about recent events and the attacks they made on a customer [was it a suitmaker?] who gave bad reviews, I'd think twice about giving them my business.
However, I did pop on over to their site and saw they have new Tissavel furs.. I'm not sure how long I can withstand not buying any.. it's preeeetty..

Fabric.com has been nothing but a pain in my ass, though. Sending me kinked fur that I can't fucking use.

Soo... genuine curiosity, mostly because furries are one of the most male dominated nerd cliques i know.

Are most of you guys, or girls? I apologise for it being an awkward, weird question.

I guess Fur Suits give you a sexual ambiguity that might deflect unwanted attention.

>> No.7893702

>>7893432
I'm not a furry, but I have strong ties with the community, and I can tell you right now that the majority of furries are dudes.
I think, like, 80% of the community is male.

I'm a girl, though, and have made it a point to not reveal my gender in the furry community.

>> No.7894071

>>7893432
I'm female, but saying that around furries is like saying "Hate me for having a vagina." Most "female" furries are men pretending to be women, transgenders, or actual females. Hilarious enough most drama in the furry fandom tends to stem from females as quite a bit of the popular fursuit makers are female.
The furry community is VERY male dominated, primarily gay or bisexual men. Most females are of the underage sort (Tumblr has been helping with this) while most men are... In the older range.

I've been stuck in this community for ten years now.
It's a pit, a disgusting filth pit. At first you're all "oh cool, everyone is so nice and accepting! Look at all these friends I'll make!" A year later you'll find yourself trying to escape all the drama (it doesn't matter if you don't want to be involved, you'll be dragged in) and the horrible stereotype attached to the furry label. Not like all of them you say? No one on the outside is going to really believe you. You can almost escape it, but as long as you have close friends in it, you're fucked.

Something like that! Anyway I'm actually excited. I recently traded fursuits with someone, a fursuit of Pabu from Legend of Korra! I'll get to entertain, which I've always been fond of.

Questioning and have been for a few years. When I first got involved I was female, though.

I think it says something when the boards are male/gay, female/straight. I can only think of one prominent lesbian furry artist. But there was a while since I was involved in all fairness.

>> No.7894839

I've liked furry art for ages, and kinda skimmed the online side of the community. But i've never had the nerve to get involved with it, I guess i don't want to be too furry. And despite liking the art a lot of it creeps me out.

I don't really play by the hug box rules too, and tend to say inflammatory things when people act like retards instead of cooing and saying it'll be alright, everyone else is wrong.

Plus if i go to a meet and they take photos and tag me on Facebook i'd literally kill myself. Fuuuuck.

Furry cons are one of those cons where A) You're going to want someone to be with you, or you'll feel lost and B) Being alone can result in either easily make friends, or being horribly creeped on depending on if you're fursuiting or if you're a cute guy or girl. Here's a cow head in progress. All that yellow shit is contact cement. The pieces all get stuck together over time. The eyes are fucking ghetto; they're made out of acrylic cabochons with hole punched white stickers for the eyes, then the black is painted on acrylic and the white is shellac.
The nose is plasti-dip, the black parts are actually plastic canvas vents.
(Which reminds me. Doing a foam head? Fucking ventilate that shit. No one does this! It's so much easier to breathe in a head with goddamn vents.)

The kid cow heads are the closest I've made to a fursuit currently. Nose vision though. The black mesh on the front is this neat shit called veraform. So, this is going to be one of those horrible inappropriate questions.

Ever made a fursuit with boobs/sexholes... ever used a fursuit with sexholes?

>> No.7908719

>>7908627
SO, I'll try to answer this. I have never and I can tell you that sexual fursuits aren't really... Appreciated. Considering people can spend thousands of dollars on fursuits, it's seen as a waste if you just get bodily fluids all over another's craft; Even if you can clean it.
Fursuits that do feature breasts are uncommon as the construction can be somewhat difficult depending on the size you're going for and your skill level of sewing. You'll never see a fursuit with SPH (strategically placed holes) for the breasts, either. Breast shape will usually be made if A) the person wants to emphasize that a character is female (or herm. Many furries tend to have hermaphroditic characters), B) As a joke, or C) If the wearer is female and the suit is too tight. This does happen on occasion.

A murrsuit (term for sexual fursuit) is a rare, very rare site in public. You'd have to go out of your way to find these as 4-9% of fursuits, maybe even less, use them. Little to no fursuit makers actually make sexual suits, and if one were to edit a suit for sexual relations, many makers would deny them repair as it breaches contract (most makers have a rule relating to the alteration of suits).
There's about three or for admitted in the fandom that you can commission. Other than that you have to make it yourself.
Murrsuiting, despite how "sexual" the fandom is in the artistic aspect, is commonly looked down upon or disagreed with. These fursuits would/will be around children at some point, considering how active furries can be during special events or during outings.
There are several blogs that out these kind of people, wanting nothing to do with the suits themselves at least (and the people if they have a good reason to; drama, bad rep, etc.)
Some have two body suits, one for public and one for private, but this isn't too common.

TL;DR No never will. I fursuit to entertain others. Fursuits themselves are a craft/art, no artist wants to see their art ruined.

>> No.7908728

>>7908719
And if you do want to do something like that, that's your own personal business. Just don't take it out in public, or at least have a public body suit.
And take care of it. One of the worst mistakes fursuiters (especially murrsuiters) make is not tending carefully to their suits.

http://dirtygrimyfursuits.tumblr.com A good blog with care tutorials that really help with fursuit care. They also showcase some unkempt fursuits.

http://publicmurrsuitwarning.tumblr.com Not safe for work of course, but shows who to avoid in fursuit (or find if you're into that, can't recommend it though). Some may have doubles but I don't know.
