I bought this IW skirt on a whim because it was cheap and I really liked the flower print. The problem is that I find the base color to be very difficult to coord. It's not exactly dusty pink nor is it purple, it's like something in between? I think I might need to take advantage of the yellow flowers. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be super happy.

The only thing i can think of is very plain block colours for anything you pair with this.
Pale yellows might clash with the browny pink and make it looks like a bruise. I'd suggest maybe a white blouse, and daisy themes accessories.

I'd call that a taupe, and you're right that it's bloody hard to coordinate. I could see it going well with cream and pale lemon,so cream blouse/tights/shoes with pale yellow rose shoe clips and yellow roses in your hair. I'd also think about pairing it with a muted dusky pink, or periwinkle blue.

The beret and socks seem to be a bit lighter than everything else. It's a shame because i love that outfit anon! I hate it when colors don't match, sometimes you don't know until you have all the items in front of you. Maybe some chocolate tights would look good, or the Loyal Rosette OTK's, they are a darker brown than those socks. Good luck!

Honestly with brown I think it looks better when you have different shades so you don't turn into some brown blob. What you have to worry about is undertones. If the majority of items is cool brown and you have one or two items in warm brown that can look really bad. It's hard to tell from your picture, though, because of the yellow hue. Could you take another one in natural lighting?

Okay, I was able to get hold of a better camera. I also did my best to pick out the darkest browns in the pieces with photoshop (the skirt is a bit washed out). Threw in the beige otks as another option for contrast? I feel like this coord looks better worn color-wise; I actually need to take in the jacket a bit. I'm still at a loss with this. The bonnet looks a bit beige given that it looks like you've gone with off-white and gold for the rest of the outfit, it'd be better to have an off white bonnet or change the blouse and tights to be more ivory-beige. I'd like to see more brown accents in it, maybe replace the bow on the blouse and think about brown shoes?

The collar isn't wide enough to hide completely but it doesn't stick up too much so it's not off-putting. The material is chiffon so it matches the JSK nicely. (Construction isn't great though.)
I'm size US0-2, I think, and this blouse fits me fine, but it's almost tight though, so this blouse might not be a good option for everyone.

The photo has three different reds on it, with the beads looking more orange-red and the tulle frills looking more purple wine. It's possible it's just the photo, if you have the dress in hand and are fairly confident about the red blouse matching, go for it.

Personally I'd go with a black blouse to try and avoid potential clashes with the reds. The gold shoes sound cute.

Looks really cute so far, I say go for either the white/pink tights with blue TPs, or the blue socks with pink TPs, but I'm just a fan of shoes matching bags haha. If you go for the former then try to get some more white accents in there, like with your blouse or wristcuffs, small hairbows, etc.

Have this dress, and it annoys me because for some reason it's a cooler pink, making all my other AP pinks look salmon. So I wouldn't go overboard with too much pink, just to keep the clashing to a minimum.

Blue socks with blue shoes looks bad, imho. Be careful the white tights don't turn sheer on your legs (you'll be fine if you have really thin legs, otherwise, get white socks instead of tights).

If you look up a lolita skirt recipe you'd be able to do it easily. It has a really obvious separation at the waist. You'd just have to undo the seam and then you can use the top part to make waist ties or a waist band and headbow.

It could work for casual I guess but the blouse is way too plain and low cut for a proper coord. The colors have a more otome feel and with such a plain blouse a big cupcake poof would look really off with this outfit. So something more light volume petti is going to look better. The bright reds, the blouse and overall casual feel make it look much more vintage to me and not lolita at all.

I just recently acquired Bodyline L444 (probably the only Bodyline skirt I've ever actively sought out and really like), but I seem to be having a bit of a mental slump when it comes to coording it. Since that JSK is halter necked, I don't think either jacket would work to well. Maybe get the skirt version instead of the JSK? Then you could maybe wear a wine coloured blouse instead of one of the jackets, which I think would look nicer.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I've already ordered the dress in the op version, I just used the jsk picture since the cream color was easier to see, and the designs were mostly the same anyway.

It's not that bad. Dump the two tone contacts. Get a pink blouse rather than the teal cardigan. The accesories aren't my style but IMO they'd be fine with this. The necklace is cure but everything else is a bit bright so try to find some pastels! I don't really like the shoes/socks. The silver glitters aren't visible from afar, you should be fine.

If you're super super worried and have some small resources to spare, try to add just a few pieces that's gold and clear, the beads should preferably be sparkly, really shiny or have a high refractive index or something. It sort of emphasises the crystals theme so the silver sparkles in the skirt would read more as sparkly crystals instead, if that makes sense.

Like others have said, the socks stand out so much because of how bright they are compared to the rest of the coord. I'd opt for ivory or black tights with some kind of patterning on them. idk what your options are since you're on a budget, but since the dress doesn't have any black or brown in it (from what I can see) I'd say either go with black tights and black shoes and a black blouse (white would stand out too much) or maybe go with white tights brown shoes and the white blouse (depending on the shade of brown the booties are). Personally I just think black and brown together clash and look pretty bad most of the time.

I agree with the other anon that it depends on the style of shoes you have, but I'm not a big fan of that coord. I'm concerned with balance/color matching. And I think it would be better to have white blouse, white tights, and black shoes, than just three different color things. Especially since it can be hard to find the right shade of red that matches. If you look at pic related(some random pic from google images), you'll see there's black and white on the top half of the coord and black and white on the bottom half. I was thinking of how the hats worn with Victorian riding habits are smaller than your head and sit on top of your hair, instead of going down and sitting on top of your ears. Compare the engraving on the left, versus the woman-in-a-man's-top-hat on the upper right and the universally scorned thing on the lower right.

newcomer here, I've been trying out making mock coords with stuff I find on lacemarket as practice before I buy anything and I'm not sure how it's going, anyone care to critique?

I was aiming for navy, white and gold sailor. Couldn't figure out how a blouse would go under the OP but guessing you'd wear a cutsew or something invisible so it doesn't directly touch your skin? Also I know that the shoes don't match the dress perfectly, couldn't find closer ones.

That OP will take a fair bit of washing, so don't worry about putting anything underneath. I'd drop the brooch, it's not the best match - but a more nautical one would be good. Plain white tights would probably be better than the socks too - sailor lolita mostly deals in solid blocks and those socks are far too fiddly.

I am pretty new to Lolita fashion and I am a bit confused about matching things. For example, by the end of the year I may buy a lilac sailor dress, and I am thinking about using white tights and lilac shoes, but in the bag I am not sure. Would it look too much with a lilac bag, right? If so, can bags be the color for example the wig or accessories?

Colored wigs are hard to pull off because they're just simply not neutral. If your wig is a warm pink but your dress is a cooler pink, it's going to clash. They're not very versatile.
It doesn't help that there are way too many cheap, shiny wigs being used for coordinates. Finding a unnaturally colored wig that doesn't look like party store crap for cheap is hard to do.

If you're just starting out it's probably better to stick with basic colours for pieces like bags and shoes. A white bag will go with several outfits, but lilac is a very tricky one to match to anything else. There just aren't a lot of lilac pieces around, and even within sweet there's a bunch of different purples going on. Brown might be a good colour for you to think about - a matching brown leather shoes and bag set, maybe with a watch as well, can open your co-ord possibilities right up. Accessories are great to use to to tie together the main piece to the outer pieces of an outfit.

I love this! But a non patterned chiffon blouse could work?I think that blouse was a bit expensive for my budget.The only gothic lolita coords i like are a bit tacky or going into punk/creepy cute territory rather than the usual gothic lolita with crosses or church theme. Oh man, I'm actually planning on doing mahou kei with that dress, but with it in the pink/purple colorway. I'm going to be getting Pinkly Ever After's Queen Serenity Peignoir to go with it and some cute tights.
