The trouble I've found with gothic room decor is that unless you actually live in a huge victorian-era house, a lot of the really cool stuff like huge ornate beds and dressers look out of place. Then when you try and tone it down to make it fit a smaller house, you end up in mallgawth territory

Get some nice prints or something for the walls, they look bare as fuck. Nice posters or whatever will do, but if you want it to look less tacky get framed prints, wallscrolls, or those big canvas prints

I would rearrange a bit, the shelves and stuff look really scattered especially with the too-high-to-be-a-bedside-table filing cabinet thing by the bed and the random gap between the chest of drawers and the shelf. The low shelf under the window doesn't look like you really use it, I would consider moving that, the shelf by your bed, and the shelf/drawers at the end of your bed and rotating your bed 90 degrees to be against the wall with the windows...the actual reconfiguration after that is partly dependent on what you're using the shelves for.
In terms of actual redecorating - I like the idea of a greyscale palette, so would get a bedspread of some sort that reaches to the floor, maybe a charcoal. This will hide the fugly crap under the bed. Uncovered corkboard is very high school/start of college kid, I would find some decent craft paper or black fabric to cover it with, which turns it into a feature rather than an eyesore. Stuff on the wall is all sad and peeling off, bin it. Placement of things on your wall will depend on whether you move your furniture, but I would think leaving the wall behind your TV/computer blank is reasonable, and framing/mounting any images you want onto black or grey card and then putting them up on the wall is fine for the wall without so much furniture on it (which will either be the one with your closet or the one your bed is currently against) I'd go with one large poster in the middle, and smaller ones to the sides of it. Get some curtains to match the bedspread to hang over the windows + the closet 'door' as well.

Personally I would rearrange the furniture. Centering the bed between the two windows and moving the big ass desk diagonal from where it is now. A rug under the bed would be nice, maybe pick a color scheme for some curtains, rug, and bedding. Also like other anon said, framed posters or canvas ones are nice.

There's a huge pile of stuff underneath it, I've got some boxes I've been meaning to use to just give all my old shit to the neighborhood kids.

As everyone pointed out, my walls are fucking barren.
They used to be decorated, but I was afraid of ridicule after my old friends in middle school made fun of it.
I took all my posters and shit down and at sophomore in college haven't bothered to do anything yet.

I can probably install shelves again, I have a disabled brother who broke off the shelf below the existing one that prevented me from doing so before.

I've got some other posters and shit as well as stuff I've been meaning to frame that can go up for now after I magic eraser the fuck out of those walls.

Go to a craft store and get a couple of those floral garland things. Wrap them around the frame, then wrap the lights around that and arrange them so the bulbs just peek out between the flowers and petals.

I had that on my bed when I lived at home because it was an ancient canopy bed from when I was small. It was really nice. But sadly I ahve no photos and Google is just giving me garlands with lights built into the flowers.

A secretary desk is not a great idea for sewing. I have one and the inside is not big enough for a machine, and even if you have it open I don't think the slant down shelf is sturdy enough to hold a machine/sew with.

In my experience, it's 50-50.
It kept some out but then at others times, I would find a few crawling on the inside of the damn thing.

And that was when I had tucked it in securely around the mattress to keep it from touching the floor. Now I have it taped to my bed including the bed frame which makes it look awful, but beats having spiders crawl across your face (especially since we have brown recluses)

How discreet do you want it to be? You can use the tiny transparent 3M hooks, or you can get T pins (the kind you use for dissections in high school, sort of), depending on whether you're willing to put holes in the walls.

T pins are small, but strong enough to hold up things like fairy lights easily, and leave a smaller hole than nails.

You could have a bunch of neutral shades but then accent with a bright colour like red. And I'm picturing vintage art on the walls - posters and pop art, old advertisements and stuff like that. Thank you, this is just the bottom floor wit living room and kitchen as well, in the top floor we have bedroom, computerroom, sweingroom and walking closet / guestroom. Going to be great when it's done.

Going for a lot of grays in the livingroom, antique and brown in the bedroom, white/beige in the closet and darker colors in the computer room.

I just realized i need to take up more of the wardrobes for my dresses.... its a bit crowded.

White is better than anything else though. I would go craycray at Ikea since they have a lot of good stuff (but I am a Swede so I'm bias).

Get a few good laps for the light, Dunnes at Henry street have a nice pick of crap that can make your place a more "feeling" if you like that kind of stuff. Also there is some kind of sticky pillow things (called Häftkuddar in swedish) that is sticky on both sides and can hold up pictures and paintings that are not to heavy without drilling into the wall.

Oh, I know of those but they leave marks on the wall. I once used some for my toilet hooks but they wouldn't even hold a towel for an hour and would just flop to the floor. Not entirely. They're just not as popular elsewhere because of different styles of beds. The UK calls them divans instead of box springs, too. So maybe other countries have different terms for it too?
