OP, if you go up to a professor and say "I'm confused, explain everything to me", you'll be kicked out of the office. You have to approach the question with a background that shows you did a little research. Give us specific questions we can answer. For instance, "I want to avoid looking like a hot mess, so I'm going to start lolita with some simple items. I like xx brand and was thinking of xx skirt. What else could I pair it with that would look nice?"

Don't use your own hair or a natural coloured wig. Bright colours with twin tails are the norm, especially with contrasting split colours like orange with green. Then to style it, stick as many things to the top as possible, including gigantic bows, stars (fuzzy stars if you can find them), maybe a small stuffed animal or two.
