I'm not going to Närcon. Second year i arow I skip it.
I'm not even sure why, I guess I just need a really good reason to go. I live pretty far from Linköping so I need to pay for traveling there, traveling in Linköping, hotel (because fuck sleeping halls, seriously) and the con itself. Spending a lot of money on a week where I'll just hang out with the same 5 people I usually do and bad eating/sleeping habits just isn't worth it.

Soon done with my Gene cosplay. I'm happy to cosplay as my favorite video game character but also a bit sad since I know no one at Närcon will recognise it. Also cosplaying as Wolf from Payday.

I'll be attending some workshops and meetups, especially the Monster Hunter one.

This is my second Närcon summer I'm going to and so far I can't say I found anything to dislike about it, except that it takes place when it is the hottest in Sweden.

SNK, pretty 99% the con will be filled with SNK cosplayers.

I will be in the cosplay contest for the first time, with a warm cosy cosplay. Did the last touchups today.
Was gonna do it together with two friends but they had to drop it so it will not be as fun, especially since the process it so long! At 13 it starts for the contestants so it feels like I'm missing a day.

I wanted to go to the armour panel but it will be during the contest process. Other then that I might go to the gamshow, otherwise I haven't planned any events.

There's a kebab-shack just next to one of the sleeping halls. The food tastes fine, but the people working in there were kind of rude and they ran out of veggies but we had to pay full price anyway.
Way nicer having a walk to where the nearest atm outside of campus is and just getting some groceries. (remember to get your cash beforehand. The atm-machines ran out of money)

After the lasy Uppcon Närcon bought/took the logo (I think it was something like "come get it away from us and it's yours") and then did a joke for NC 2012 that they were "switching up their brand" to well, everything uppcon. I suppose they still have the logo. No idea what they're doing with it though.

Then I was probably both. The first two days I went without makeup since I don't know how to do that stuff at all. On the Friday evening I went to the Metal Gear Solid meetup in my Venom Snake Cosplay and I found out one of the people in the meetup was one of the people who took care of the makeup workshop, so we decided to meet the next day to give my Venom Snake a beard and a few scars, which turned out awesome in the end since she was really talented. I liked the makeup so much that I decided to keep the beard and scars as well as my eyepatch to make my Quiet cosplay all the more fun to do. I got inspired by that picture floating around on the internet where Snake wears Quiet's outfit.

Any thoughts about the more split up con area? With the key-house, D-house and the stage away from the C-house?

I personally found it annoying that the food was so split up, I was very glad that there was a cafeteria in the D-house but corson was a disappointment and it was annoying to try and eat with friends and have to split up. What I did eat in the resturant was good, though, so I hope they keep that up and make it better.

Ended up not even visiting the stage, and I'm sorry they moved the small stage from the area behing the C-house because it was really well placed there for more casual activities and I ended up missing the manliness contest.

I was a little disappointed over the cosplay contest. The prejudging was badly organized and after waiting for it the entire day I was in there for 30 sec. I felt like I wreaked my chances since I did not elaborate/explain enough. On the info site it said that they would look closer at the costumes as well but they did not.
And because they fucked up, (I do not blame the organizer, he did try his best to fix the miscommunication but still) I did not get any time of to go and eat but fortunately had a friend to call so she could buy me food.

And as a contestant I was not a fan of the acts.

My friends told me that is was too bad that they did not say what series people were from and I now saw that not even our names were on the screen. And I think it was a shame that there was no peoples choice. I feel that it sorta takes away the point in going up on the stage. Felt to much like a walk on.

Yeah! The cosplay contest was just ech this year and I ended up withdrawig due to the information arriving like three days before the con. I got no response to my email and when I talked to the cosplay team about it they were like "well we had like hubdereds of mails" and I can't help but feel OBVIOUSLY. If you're not ready for >100 ppl telling you that you're late as shit with info and that they need to work things out or are simply asking for info because it haven't arrived yet then don't send out the info so late jfc.
