Saw this on facebook and just kind of made a very wtf face....
Isn't the /point/ of cosplay trying to look as much like the character as you can?

Always wear makeup. Even if your character doesn't have any defining makeup features, always at least do foundation/contouring/highlighting
Cosplayers who don't wear makeup will always look like shit, especially in photoshoots.
But at the same time, don't go all Yaya Han.
Do makeup that will match the character. You could have the greatest cosplay in the world, bad makeup will ruin it.
What's their cosplay quality like anyway? The person you posted?

I hate when people wear lolita with barely any makeup. It just doesn't look good. It looks gross.
Tired of seeing shiny skin and red spots. Wear make up.

This so much. I hate it when people do the same make-up for every cosplay even when the characters look nothing alike. If you're going to spend time and money on make-up anyway might as well be accurate to the character, no?

Do you have any tips for contouring/highlighting? I mostly cosplay young characters and I find most tutorials don't really cater to a youthful-faced look.

I'd look for ulzzang makeup tutorials, they usually contour and highlight in a way that makes them look young and innocent.

Looking like a character is exactly what cosplay is about. That's why you buy wigs, make costumes and wear contacts instead of taking a photo of yourself dressed like you do normally and saying you're so and so.
Some people are so stupid.

yeah but don't do the eye makeup, that just looks horrid

Her cosplay sucks, but her skin looks nice from this picture. She definitely should use make-up to bring out her features/ the characters features though

I'm not sure which I hate more: people who don't wear any makeup or people who wear waaaay too much.

>> No.7668263

Anyone have any general makeup tips for beginners? I've never bother to wear any before but now I want to so my skin will look better in photos.

I'm okay with no or very little makeup loli, but not with a pastel wig like that. You need some makeup with an unnaturally colored wig or you'll look super washed out and weird no matter how good your skin is.

That said, not trimming the fucking bangs on a wig pisses me off way more than makeup issues especially when they're held in place with a plain black bobby pin (I've seen this on many people, not just her).
