Haven't seen a thread for ouji/dandy lately. Anyone in?

Mostly looking for ideas in terms of head wear aside from top hats and tricorns.

There's a few others, but I don't know their Tumblr/blog account names.

Where do you go to shop for your ouji outfits?

I was thinking about getting this:

I haven't worn any boystyles for a while now but this was what I'd do with offbrand in the past. It's definitely not what I would call ouji but kodona (yeash I don't know if it's a viable term anymore to use)/boystyle to some extent? Lately I've been wanting to get back into it as lolita has been more on the fence for me.

As far as where to shop, I find that investing in a good jacket or vest helps make a statement. AatP, Boz, BPN (RIP qq), h.Naoto and Ozz are my Japanese brand picks I'd recommend mostly because they both cater in men and womens sizes. If you don't mind shopping around on the 2nd hand market or waiting out some sales, at the price of what you've got there, I was able to pick this piece up from AatP. I have nothing particular against F+F but the only thing I've ever gotten from them was pretty bleh and back over 5 years ago so I can't really say much in terms of their quality now.

I can't even begin to comprehend what you just said. AatP is.... Alice and the Pirates?

Boz - wot.
BPN - wot
h.Naoto - wot
Ozz - Ozzy Osbourne? What about him?

I apologize, I just don't know that much about Ouji/Dandy/EGL and while I like the dresses offered by lolita....
It messes my inner masculinity. So I'm looking into Ouji and trying to learn what I can. Can you take me through what you meant please?

Is there anything that you think I should know about those brands (buyer beware)?

>> No.7663186

>>7663169
They're aimed at Japanese size M for the most part (some pieces come in multiple sizes, but it's rare), so if you're a manly man or super tall, you might have some issues fitting. Also beware that Atelier Boz and BPN both have "men's" and "women's" lines (AatP does as well at times). You can usually tell by which way the buttons are facing, but auctions sometimes have inaccurate photos.

Basically, be cautious and double-check measurements.

As far as quality goes, they're all pretty good. h.Naoto is more goth/punk style, so it may not work for what you're wanting all the time, but they have tops that make for nice wardrobe filler regardless, and the occasional deconstructed frock coat.

Alice and the Pirates = mens are indicated with an extra tag that has a spider on it.

Boz & BPN = I don't know if there's a way to tell directly on the tag but be aware that there exists mens and womens versions of the same thing and like AatP, the difference is in stuff like the darts for vests/jackets and so on (pretty much make things to fit better that gender's body type). But by far, I think these two brands do a lot of good jacket/vest work and really clean and crisp as far as their designs go.

h.Naoto and Ozz can be a bit all over the place in terms of style and some people might think it's more 'fun' because they work with prints more. I know both have mens but for the life of me I can't remember if their jackets have men/womens version or not.

Dayum that looks hawt.

I guess I have only one final problem, and that's in seeing things that match. Since this isn't a video game so there's no simulator, and I can't go to some store to try these on.

Is there some sort of simulator I could use to see how these would look together, or am I just going to have to brain it myself? Do you think it'd be /cgl/-related enough to post potential outfits here and get some critique?

I don't think everyone needs to bind nor is binding comfortable for everyone. There might be a different interpretation between people as a fashion and possibly cross dressing.

Wearing a sports bra and have a less waist-conforming shirt (be it blouse, long jackets, vest with waist ruffles) that help make your figure move away from the hour glass shape and look more rectangular.

You sound either cry moar or was not able to make sense what's going on but I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt so I'll break it down for you:

1. I did not say "be the rectangle" just ebb away from the hour glass shape and CLOSER to a rectangle. I'm not telling you go box or go home. It just reduces the impact of BOOBS being there. What does this mean? Give something like sailor-boy style or something baggier (at the waist) a try. Or even jackets that have waist ruffles that distract the eye from that shape with ruffle butts (like the image here) or a stiffer vest/vest parts that does not start buttoning under the bust.

2. I made no claims that sports bra minimize. If you want minimize than you're back to square one, go bind or compression. What sports bra help is make your boobs 'loaf' a bit and less 2 singular cup things on your chest and flattens out the area between your boobs so that when you wear something, it will be 'flatter' there not the whole torso.

3. 34" bust - 12" difference = 22" waist, giving yourself a few inches isn't going to send you packing to look like hamtown unless you're super duper petite. You can dress in more uniform in color (going all black/white/...) to hide the curves/ not draw attention to that.

If you don't think it works trying to do these things then hell, maybe you are SOL.

>>7668286
I disagree entirely. Clothing follows the general public's idea of what should be masculine and feminine and are made to appeal to people of those genders. In other words, we, the people of those certain genders, give clothing the genders. I WILL agree that people of all genders wear Ouji and that people of all genders wear lolita. But you have to consider the purpose of the fashion styles and you'll see that while people of both genders wear lolita, it was in the opinion of the people making the clothing to appeal to females. Similarly, it appears that the people making the Ouji fashion are appealing to females while making it appear like a male-oriented style.
