Hey, so i was curious for all you cosplay folks out there, how many of you actually get involved in the running of a convention?

Ive been offered a position at a local con as apart of their committee and i was curious if anybody could tell me about it. Ive volunteered before but never done stuff like this before, mainly because i think the Committee only accepts those 'socially acceptabe' of COURSE the assholes are the ones running these things.

tell you about what specifically? what committee are they wanting you to join? what con? you aren't really giving us any information.

It can be hell. Depending on the con and their set up, you could be required to do a hell of a lot of work for free. Wanna enjoy the con? Too bad, you are busy running it. Like I said, it really depends on your con.

If you're on the west coast, avoid SPJA at all costs. If you're in the midUSA, tough luck. If you're in Florida, I'm sorry.

lol, pretty much this
volunteering is ok if you get a free $50+ badge for 8-16 hours of mostly sitting around and waiting
becoming STAFF is usually a mistake

volunteering for a $50 badge is only okay if you have no job
now a comic con badge, yeah, i can understand that one because it's a war to get one period

Give it time. The SPJA is going to be cleaned up in time.
