I have friends that are moving to NYC this weekend, but I'd feel so terrible hitting them up for lodging so soon after. Besides, it would be pretty pricey for me to travel from FL to NYC just for the grand opening of one shop. Unless I found some other girls from the area to travel with me, I don't see this happening.

I'm glad that NYC is getting a physical lolita store back with corporate backing from BTSSB. Unfortunately, my lolita friend is leaving the City soon for work and I don't have a reason to go right now. I was there last March for Springfest.

Anyway, plenty of New Yorkers love cuter, more modest twee/modcloth/etc shit that isn't sexy or revealing. But it's usually the more boring type of 'retro-looking dress with one pop colored shoe/bag and a ponytail' stuff.

If their store ends up still being Village/Soho or somewhere downtown where most college age/tumblr-esque kids hang out I'm sure they'll be interested enough to pop in too, and honestly I can't really see it in mid/uptown... >I'm assuming they just got too lazy/broke to continue running it.

The head director had a falling out with the other two and tried to force them to resign from the convention. Her reasoning was that they were self promoting their own indie brands, though they were just 2 indie brands among multiple at the convention. She then decided to shut down Frill entirely and closed down the organization bank account... before the hotel and vendors could cash their checks for the payment owed to them. Because of this people had checks bounce, the hotel was having to go after her for money. Also people who had stuff sold at the boutique or shown in the fashion show had items returned damaged or not at all without hassle, there was a Japanese brand (was it Atelier Pierrot? I can't remember) who had fashion show items either lost in the mail or damaged because the director who sent them back sent them with uninsured SAL, etc etc, basically a giant clusterfuck that pretty much made the people running it lose whatever integrity they had left.
