Honestly if you're gonna make a staff, I feel like resin isn't going to be your best bet. Pink foam, Expanding Foam or wood might work better. Kamui has an excelent tutorial for the basics of working with expanding foam!

Anything in particular that anyone's looking for?

I'm looking for a tutorial on making collapsable/expandable/retractable wings. After getting whacked in the face by a bunch of cosplayers with full wingspans, it's something I'd like to research before proceeding with Masked Man's wingpack.

Anyone got any good special effects makeup tutorials that don't need latex? I'm wanting to be something really gory for Halloween, but I'm incredibly allergic to latex, and it seems like all the good extreme makeups require it.

I used gelatin last year for my costume, but it was impossible to get it exactly how I wanted it.

Requesting any tutorials for lightening/colouring eyebrows that work. I've tried all that I can find and none of them are having any effect on my black brows. There's no makeup thread right now so thought I'd ask here.

>> No.7626861

>>7626852
I have black eyebrows. Just get a white eye pencil (I use Nyx's white jumbo eye pencil), go over your eyebrows with it and be sure to comb through with a little brow comb for even coverage. Then cover it with eyeshadow or lipstick, whatever you can find with a color your want, and comb that nice and neat. Done. Super simple, and I'm positive I've seen at least three tutorials for this exact method.

Dude, you don't want to use resin. You want to use 1:1 epoxy clay (most common brand is apoxie sculpt in the US). You can sculpt it like clay, smooth it with water, and then when it's hard you can sand or dremel it, and you can go back and add to it, and it takes spraypaint well. There's no reason to do it in resin because you'd need to make an original, then a mold, then pour the piece, and since you're only doing a single piece, it's not worth it.

The buttplug looking thing there is sculpted with epoxy clay over a ring of PVC pipe with a nail running through the long end and a bolt so it can screw in to the rest of the staff. It's also been primed in gray, but you can see it's smooth enough that the metallic spraypaint made it look properly metal (which I don't have a photo of at this point)

Not sure about the whole shoe pattern but to make them stick up pointy you could stuff them with fluff or add something pointed and curled inside, like a thin piece of wood or something.
