there wasn't a thread and i guess the show came back while i was still in japan. the animate! episode is on and more than half the cast is gone? holly, jessica, and yaya survive while riki, becky, and victoria got the boot? i know becky and victoria are a pain, but they're a lot better than holly and jessica on screen all the time. the new guy seems even more useless than jesse was. chloe is... chloe. i don't expect much out of her coattail riding.

Just watched it.

Daaaaa HELL was up with that The Mannequin cosplay. Could he have gotten ANY further from what it was it was supposed to look like? Not one thing was was right, not the skin color tone, the heads' make ups, the angles or thickness of the arms, the blood splatter, the pose...and I know all the girls do the "drama" thing of fake freaking out and finishing a costume last minute in their rooms, BUT, how did he think it would workout by trying one a multi-armed puppet-like costume for the first time the day of the con? What. We laughed so hard when he tried to give the judges one of the heads and he dropped it. What a fucking nerd.

Wargraymon wasn't shabby. I actually seem to like that guy. Cosplayed a fairly well Kill la Kill cosplay, made a cosplay with a helmet so he didn't have to shave (coughMegaManJessecough) and seems to show some skill in the armor area. A little surprised he didn't win anything, not even a fan favorite? It wasn't the BEST Digimon I've seen, but not bad!

I see that Yaya's new shtik is going to be "I need to 'revamp' this already made cosplay" instead of pretending it wasn't made years before hand and then magically being complete within a day without showing any progress on it. She's on a fucking TV show about cosplay, why can't she show/make anything new for it? You think she would??

I'm just all sorts of confused with the Dragon Age ladies. The one in the dress went with purple, when the art/game it's clearly a dark red. She didn't make the costume and she won? Huh? The armor was good, why they genderbent it when they could have kept it the dude is whatever. But God DAMN was it irratiating to hear that ASSLOAD OF BULLSHIT about "these multibillion game companies make their characters based on if people can cosplay them." As a computer animator IRL, I literally yelled at my TV screen "NO." , but as a cosplayer I just rolled my eyes. Can you REALLY be THAT vain? Disgusting.

I was at that con from the latest episode. Animate Miami. It was January 2014. My god, one of the worst con experiences I've ever had and its because of the show being there.

The contest was the worst. Cosplayers who entered had to wait like, 5 hours just to get everything to work because I think last minute they told the staff that music cannot be played during the contest due to copyright reasons. Really boring cosplay contest and everyone looked tired. And just sitting down and eating was impossible because they made everyone move from their seats and tables just because its a good spot to record.

If Heroes of Cosplay is going to your con, don't bother going. It will ruin the con for everyone.

As far as we know, the only "rigged" contest was the finale last season where the con neglected to mention in advance that the costume contest was suddenly a masquerade and needed prepared audio/skits. Honestly I felt like that was more on the con for being shady than it was the show. It's not up to the production to announce on the con website that the costume contest has gone from craftsmanship to craft + performance. Unless of course the production told the con NOT to announce it in the hopes that only a team from the show could win. This so hard. Wizard World as an entity sucks in general because they are one of the money-grubbiest conventions out there. Why else would they not care about a reality show coming in and turning the contest into even more of a joke? Anyone who enters these contests and gets pissed about the reality show element is a moron because they were crap to start with.

If you're oldfag enough having skits is new. But even I'm not that oldfag. Masquerades really honestly used to be just costume contests, and any kind of presentation beyond a walk-on was a bonus. This is still more true at comic and scifi cons. But presentation helped people win, so now nearly everyone does some level of performance. At anime cons especially I've noticed that people are totally about the presentation and less about the costumes for masquerades, especially since China started selling cheap cosplay online.

The New Orleans episode will have three skits. Three only. We were told we could do skits, (a first for Wizard World.) After making us wait six hours to go on stage, we were told that there was no time for us to do skits. Except for the Heroes, a Last of Us group and a walk on with Snow White and Seven Dwarves. The two girls in front of me asked a crew member if they could do their skit and he avoided the question. So not really that fair that they were gonna judge on skits. When we went on stage they played super loud music and told us to just walk and pose. The heroes and the two skits others got mics, music and smoke effects. So yeah, the Heroes win because they really put the odds in their favor.
